Vilva Gover spent Sunday with Luella Copenhaver.

John Souther and wife, Lee Wood and wife and son, spent Saturday night at D.J. Suiter's.

Joe and Guy Wood spent Thursday night with their grandmother.

Walter Gover spent Thursday and Friday with his parents, J.B. Gover and wife.

Mrs. S.J. Wood and daughter, Lydia, spent Friday with Mrs. A.E. Poling of Corbin.

Frank Mathews, wife and daughter, Evelyn, of Humansville spent last week with relatives here.

Jewell Wood and Nell Jackson called on Mrs. John Souther Sunday afternoon.

Tom Moore and wife of Osceola spent Thursday night with the latter's parents.

Roy Gover, Ambrose Souther and Victor Copenhaver spent from Sunday until Monday evening in Fairfield.

Luther Gover of Osceola is visiting relatives here.

Miss Nell Jackson spent Saturday night with Miss Jewell Wood.

Harper Happenings

Myrtle Harper, Icle Wilson and Susie McClain spent Sunday with Josie Harper.

Geo. Breshears and wife of Avery spent from Saturday until Sunday with the latter's parents, Marion Mulkey and wife.

Several of the young folks gathered at Harper Saturday evening. All had an enjoyable time.

Miss Goldiene Wood spent Sunday with Leta Gaston.

There was a basket dinner at Harper Sunday, May 21. A large crowd present.

The surprise party at Lemon Wood's Monday night in honor of their daughter, Miss Goldiene, was well attended, about fifty being present.

Mr. Hamilton and family visited Mrs. Hamilton's mother one day this week.

Flo and Belle Paul rode horseback to Osceola Wednesday. They are having some dental work done at that place.

Mr. and Mrs. Born, who have been stopping at the Forest hotel, returned home Friday.

Mrs. Reed of Kansas City, a friend of Mrs. S.M. Jackson, was here visiting a few days this week. She returned home Friday.

A party of young people gathered at the home of W.S. Rowland Thursday night. The evening was spent in playing games. Fred Parks, wife and two children, Misses Flo, Mildred and Belle Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Rowland were present.

Russ Hardy an sister, Mrs. Lula Crammer, transacted business in Osceola Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Seymour and Mrs. Weber spent Friday at Mr. Spriggs'. They report having had a splendid time.

John Paul, wife and daughter, Mildred visited at Will Paul's Sunday.

Wm. Gillett was on the streets of Osceola Saturday.

Miss Myrtle Moree assisted Arch Cooper in the store Saturday.

Wesley Bray and wife left for Osceola Thursday where they will visit friends and relatives a short time before leaving for Oregon where they intend making their future home.

Mrs. John Foster is entertaining a daughter from Seattle, Washington. Mother and daughter had not met for fifteen years.

Oscar Clayton and wife were Chalk Level visitors Sunday.

Mrs. W.H. Dark called on Mrs. Frank Bidler Sunday evening.

The ice cream social at this place Saturday night was well attended. The proceeds amounted to $25 and will go toward repairing the church.

Mrs. Mary Lusk of Roscoe is the guest of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ira Garnett, and family of this vicinity.

After several weeks' vacation we are home again and will be found at our post as of yore. Oh sweet refrain "'Home again, home again"'.

James H. Reading and wife spent Tuesday at Osceola attending Decoration day services held by the Old Soldiers.

Corn plowing is now the order of the day at Three Corners. Wheat and oats look fine and everybody is wishing for a bountiful harvest.

Mrs. M.E. Hillegas and children and Mrs. Locke Boyles spent Saturday at J.M. Boyles'.

Charley Walker and family spent Sunday at Dan Snyder's.

Helen Artz spent Sunday with Lena Snyder.

Bro. Riddle filled his appointment at Landaker church Sunday.

Mrs. George Artz and daughters, Madge and Helen, were Tuesday callers at the Lawson home.

Marvin Thompson and family spent Sunday at David Parks'.

A surprise party was given for Miss Beula Akers last Saturday night by a few of her friends, it being her birthday. Delicious refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. An enjoyable time was had by all present and the guests departed wishing Beula many more happy birthdays.

Johnson City Notes
Farmers are so busy they are renting out their beds.

Henry Allinson delivered wheat to the Appleton City market last week.

Cecil and R.V. Shoemaker have been very busy at the carpenter trade the past two months.

R.H. Calvert, the public salesman of Appleton City, but formerly of Johnson City, was here last week combining business with pleasure.

J.D. Crowder of the Kansas City Dental College, was home for a short visit last week.

The storm-wrecked church at this place is at last receiving attention. Quite late about it, indeed; but a good example of "'What's everybody's business is nobody's business."'

B.R. Cosby of Sedalia was recently representing the Missouri Mutual Life Insurance Co., in this part.

Squirrels and fish are ripe now but must be harvested according to law. Such pie timber is scarce out on the prairie so we'll all take a hike for the woods.

A few prospectives from around Johnson City took the teacher's examination Friday and Saturday.
