St. Clair County Courier Iconium: A birthday dinner was held Friday, February 15, in Grace Souther's home in honor of Mrs. Oga Turk's birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Harper, Mrs. Lula Hudson, Mrs. Joyce Souther, Mr. Simon Haste and Mrs. Grace Souther. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garrison and Mrs. Amy Cleveland visited Thursday evening in the home of Doris Murray. Mrs. Doris Murray visited Thursday with Mrs. Jerry Shelby. They visited Mrs. Maude Hooper at the Care Center. Mrs. Zelpha Sagaser and Mrs. Ruby Prince of Appleton City spent Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cary. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Murray, Sharon and Jon entertained with a five o'clock dinner Sunday in honor of Mrs. Roy Murray's birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shelby, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Vaughn and Jamie, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Shelby, Brett, Jerri Lynn and Brandon, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Murray and Doris Murray. Visitors in the Doris Murray home Wednesday morning were Mrs. Joyce Souther, Mrs. Audrey Murray and Mrs. Roy Murray. Afternoon visitors were Mrs. Ester McLerran, Mrs. Inez Corbin, Mrs. Anita Hartley, Mrs. Helen Blackwell and Nelda. Evening visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Murray and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Murray and family. Visitors Wednesday afternoon in the Doris Murray home were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hooper and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cary. Eric Moore spent the weekend with Barney Souther and family. EDWARDS COURT: We are happy to have Ethel Mitchell home from the hospital and also Archie Redinger home from the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Patterson from rural Stockton and Bill Lyons came to see Pearl Tandy last Thursday. Her company went to Lowry for dinner at the Nutrition Center, where they like to eat. Ruth and Van Waite came Friday evening and visited Pearl Tandy. Zelma George and Addie Williams also called on Pearl last week. Zelma George ate supper with Cecilia Arent Friday night. They had pizza and salad. Willis Aldridge from Independence came to see his mother, Emma Aldridge this past week. Francis Lack has been keeping an eye on her mother since she got the intestinal flu. At this writing Emma is feeling better than she has felt in weeks. One of our new residents, Mrs. Velma Haynes is in the hospital. She was sick all last week and the neighbors were taking her cooked food and looking in on her. Eva Barlow was in Springfield at Cox's Medical Center and had her second cataract operation performed by Dr. Prater. She came home Saturday and is feeling fine. Jack Piccoli took Mrs. Barlow to Springfield and Tom and wife and children brought his mother home. Lillian Sherman visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crocker Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Atherton and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tierney came Saturday and took their uncle and dad and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crocker, to the Old Plantation for dinner to celebrate an early birthday for Frank Crocker, who will have a birthday Tuesday, February 26th. Mr. Roy Othic from Weaubleau came last Wednesday and visited his uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crocker. Addie Williams went to Roscoe Saturday night to the soup and pie supper. She reports that it was very good and she saw lots of old friends and even some of her children. Jim King came home from Germany last Friday. He has been to see his mother, Bea King. He has finished his hitch in the Army and is trying to decide on a job for the future. Jeff and Iona Large had supper with Edith Hawkins Saturday evening. Edith Hawkins went to Warrensburg last week to see her granddaughter and husband, Keith and Angie Arrudda. Idene Suiter spent the weekend at Quincy, Missouri with her eighty-five year old mother, Mrs. Lennie Weaver. Lee Weatherly enjoyed having Dave and Lou Ann Weatherly and Jimmy from Nevada come see her Saturday. Dave is Mrs. Weatherly's grandson. Nellie Hostetter has gone to Tulsa, Oklahoma to visit her daughter. Zelma George visited a while last week with Martha Bond. COLLINS: Anna Lee and George McBride stopped to see Ray and Bea Peterie for a while Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Linnie Bishop was happy to see her grand nephew, Charles Richard Hutsler and wife and children Thursday. Charles Richard is a chaplain in the Air Force and is stationed in England. He has about a year and a half yet to serve before returning to the States. BEAR CREEK: Visitors in the Mary Baxter home Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Baxter of Joplin, Mr. and Mrs. David Baxter and family, Mrs. Dale Roberts and family, Mr. and Mrs. Flint Nickel and Tom Chambers. |
