Appleton City, MO 11 May 1933 Neighborhood News: Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Sands were callers Sunday eve at the J. E. Piepmeier home. Essie Margaret Chambers spent a few days last week visiting in Warrensburg. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Michel and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Michel were Sunday visitors with the John Doerflinger family. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Tillery and son, and Mrs. Jane Pierce, of Oklahoma, spent the weekend at the Carl Compton home. Mrs. Pierce remained for a longer visit. Mrs. Chas. Hunt and family called at the J. T. Donnohue home Sunday afternoon to see the Symes family. PRAIRIE HOME: Mrs. Iola Dains, who has been real sick for two weeks, is some better. Little Keith Pace, who has been ill with pneumonia, is also better. Samuel Grass and Mark Barnett visited in the Alfred Grass home Sunday. There was a nice crowd at church Sunday night. Rev. Clapp from Rockville delivered a good sermon. Lawrence Capps has been entertaining a sister and her family. Miss Jessie Lee Wilkerson visited Sunday with Marie and Irene Jones. Junior Grass worked two days last week for Rolland Frasure. Miss Lavern Dains visited on Saturday night with the Higgins girls. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Bowden and son called in the Alfred Grass home Sunday eve. Melvin Grass spent Saturday night with Muriel Capps. Miss Irene Jones called on Miss Ruth Dains Friday eve. GREEN VALLEY: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mock and daughter spent Saturday evening in the Arthur Gilkerson home. Henry Layher sold three truckloads of fine cattle last week, but we were unable to learn the name of the purchaser. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Brown of Jefferson City are rejoicing over the arrival of a little daughter born May 2nd. The little miss has been given the name of Bettie Sue. Dorothy Chappell entertained her Sunday School class at a party Sunday evening. Mrs. Albert Heiserman and daughter called in the Will Evans home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mock and daughter spent Sunday with Ed Gragg and family. We are sorry to report that Mrs. Grace Motts is confined to her bed suffering a nervous breakdown. Mrs. Roy Mock and mother were shopping in Appleton City Tuesday. Miss Frances Carter is helping in the Motts home. |
