Appleton City, MO 27 April 1933 PRAIRIE HOME: Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Mistler and family visited the latter part of last week with home folks. Mary Alice Grass who had the whooping cough is about over it now. She has had it nine weeks and still coughs some. Miss Esther Moore visited Saturday night with Misses Melba and Wilma Capps. Several of the young folks met at Virgil Mistler's Saturday night and held an egg roast. All present seemed to enjoy themselves. Mrs. Hazel Mistler and children visited Friday with Mrs. Alfred Grass. Herman Higgins visited a few days last week with his grandfather, John Higgins. Virgil Mistler and Mr. Jones were shopping in Taberville Saturday. The P. H. S. C. met with Mrs. Alfred Grass Wednesday, April 12. Members present were Ada Higgins, Mae Capps, Annie Hopkins, Opal Higgins, Kate Moore, Fannie Grass. Visitors were Mrs. Bob Wilkerson, Jessie Lee, Esther Moore, Claud and Hubert Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Curt Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Morris, Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Morris, and children, Mrs. Brown Higgins, Mrs. B. D. Mistler. The day was spent in quilting, and a worsted quilt was completed. At 3 o'clock the regular meeting was held. Roll call was answered with a Bible verse. Mrs. B. D. Mistler won the prize in the contest. Next meeting will be held with Mrs. Iola Dains. MONEGAW SPRINGS: School closed Tuesday with a big dinner and a nice program. Haven't hired a teacher for the next term yet. Mrs. Downey went to Osceola Tuesday with Mr. Guffey to see about her new teeth. Mrs. Haynes and two children spent Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Paul. Several from here attended the last day of school program and dinner at the Motley school Friday. Mrs. James Reese and little daughter spent Wednesday with Mrs. Lawrence. About one hundred friends gathered Sunday with well filled baskets in honor of Aunt Mary Rosbrugh who was 84 years old Thursday, April 20th. A long table was spread, among the many other good things to eat were 13 large cakes, and 28 pies. All enjoyed themselves at the feast and the afternoon was spent in visiting. At departing, all wished Aunt Mary many more happy birthdays. We were glad to see Aunt Nancy Knight who will soon be 94 years old, able to be at the dinner. Frank Mallicoat has completed his new house and will move into it this week. Bina Lee Parks, Lucille and Letaruth Keeton, Juanita Jane and Marjorie Cook called on the Paul girls Sunday. |
