Reynard Notes:
Will Sutton hauled hogs to market Monday.

Walter Wilson took a trip to Appleton City Sunday evening.

Grandma Deihl sent her large flock of turkeys to market last Saturday.

Rev. Puckett filled his regular appointment at Hooks Chapel Sunday.

Earnie Browning, our tax collector, was busy collecting taxes Thursday.

Prayer meeting Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, with Ira Brown's family. Everyone invited.

Mrs. Ed Britt is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Alice Montgomery, of Henry County.

Elve Brown has built a room to his house, which will be used for a kitchen.

The Reynard School will have a Christmas tree and a short program Wednesday afternoon after which school will be dismissed one week.

Carl Witte of Pleasant Gap passed through here Sunday evening after spending Saturday night with relatives near Panther Creek.

As this will be the last issue of The Journal before Christmas we wish the editor a happy Christmas with plenty of turkey and fixings.

Joe Wix and wife are happy over the arrival of a ten-pound boy, which came last Thursday night to claim his board and clothes of Joe for twenty-one years.

Oscar Durand attended Church at Hooks Chapel Sunday. Oscar has lately returned from a tour around the world. He is lecturing and giving Magic Lantern scenes of pictures, which he made while on his trip.

Miss Gracie Hughes returned home Thursday from a week's visit in the Hudson neighborhood.

Mrs. Steve Pointer is on the sick list.

Mr. and Mrs. Stabe from near Spring Grove, visited Thursday with Oliver Crowder and family.

Artie McGlade's little daughter had the misfortune to fall and break her arm Thursday morning.

James Cook returned home Friday, from a two week's stay in Kansas City.

Quite a number from this neighborhood attended the pie suppers at the Potts and Moore Schoolhouses Friday and Saturday night.

Miss Lucy Adams spent part of last week in Appleton City.

Rev. Kliver of Montrose filled his regular appointment at Mt. Carmel church Sunday morning and night.

Oliver Crowder and family spent Sunday with Chas. Beard and family.

Jake Johnson went to Roscoe Tuesday after his sister-in-law, Mrs. Elgin Cooper, and children, who will visit at his home during the week.

Mrs. O.K. Wishard spent Tuesday with her sister, Mrs. Joseph Wooden.

Miss Delta Graham was shopping in Lowry City Tuesday.

Mrs. Glen Walker and sister, Mrs. Bratton, visited Mrs. Magruder Tuesday evening.

Quite a large crowd attended the Ingles sale Tuesday.

Miss Bessie Johnson spent Wednesday night and Thursday with her cousin, Mrs. Ashley Park, in Lowry City.

Mrs. Ive Mount spent Thursday with Mrs. Adam Johnson.

Mrs. Sherman Witty from Lowry City visited relatives in this neighborhood the past week.

Noah Johnson transacted business at the county seat Thursday.

Miss Ila Davis from Appleton City spent Saturday and Sunday with her friend Minnie Johnson.

Quite a number of the Ohio people attended the pie supper at Potts School Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kast, and little daughter Cleo, visited relatives in Clinton from Friday until Sunday.

John Perkins and wife from Clinton visited the past week with his parents and other relatives in this neighborhood.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Borum of Ladue visited at the homes of Pat Borum and Odie Williams the latter part of the week.

Mrs. Oscar Clayton and little son Murl from Lowry City spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Clayton.

Jas. Wishard went to Osceola Saturday of last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Warner from near Lowry City spent Sunday with his father, John Warner, and attended his grandmother's funeral.

Mrs. Barrett Biles went Sunday to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Pointer, near Appleton City to care for her mother who is sick.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dunning and baby spent Sunday with Mrs. Dunning's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boots.

The hearts and homes of many relatives and friends were made sad Saturday, when word was received Grandma Shafner had passed to the great beyond. While she has been spared many years to her loved ones, parting was oh so hard. She was taken from the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Warner, to Westfield Church, where funeral was preached by Rev. Nichols, and was laid to rest in Westfield Cemetery, Sunday evening.

Saturday night, December 13, quite a crowd of neighbors and friends gathered at the home of Alfred Magruder and gave him a surprise, it being his birthday. The ladies soon were very busy preparing the table, which soon looked very nice. Alfred in that time had recovered from his surprise and taken his place at the head of the table. Those present to enjoy the evening and wish him many more such birthdays to follow were: Messrs. and Mesdames O.K. Wishard, Jas. Ray Johnson, Will Johnson, Frank Johnson, Bob Peabody, Bryan Park, Billie Johnson, Onie Wishard, Fred Lillard; Children: Orvel, Charles and Chester Wishard, Howard and Mildred Francis, Lester, Charles and Dorothy Reasoner, Maude and Rosa Rise, Lenora Ditty, Clarence Dorward, Opal and Lola Hearn and Keith Fairman.

Upper Monegaw:
The rains we had last week brought quite a change in the weather.

This week has been a hog killing time in this neighborhood.

Grandma Thompson is reported some better this week.

Mrs. Chas. Dines and sister Bessie Thompson were visitors at Mrs. Holmes' the last of the week.

The sale at Wm. Tucker's Wednesday was well attended.

Walter Pickerell and wife have moved on the Coleman farm.

Ernest Crowder left last Sunday for Pittsburg, Kans., on a visit with relatives and friends.

Beuford Thompson and Bessie Snyder attended meeting at Monegaw Sunday night.

Mrs. Sidd Kinyon visited at E. Coleman's Sunday.

Ben Ridgway and wife were Sunday visitors at John Fitches'.
