Appleton City, MO 4 December 1913 Mrs. G.W. Robinson in her genial and hospitable way entertained a few friends at a noon dinner Saturday in true Missouri style. Mrs. Fred Egger served the sumptuous meal in a very gratifying way and the day will long be remembered by those who surrounded the festal board. Covers were laid for nine - Mesdames Robinson, Jno. Baldwin, Flora Van Buskirk, Mary Van Buskirk, Mary Barnes, Bettie Dodge, Stout, Hilton and Katie Bowman of Sedalia. Prairie Home: Mr. and Mrs. Wilson called on J.F. Nunn and wife Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Grass, Mr. and Mrs. Tobe Morris and Will Moore and family spent Sunday with L.A. Morris and family. A crowd of Prairie Home people attended the Box supper at Sweet schoolhouse on the other side of Oyer Wednesday night. Those are as follows: Misses Almee Sires, Russie Morris, Perna and Roxy McKinley, Mrs. Tobe Morris, Mrs. Alfred Grass, Mrs. Hugh Beard, Messrs. Tobe, Shirley and Willie Moore, Dan Thompson, Hugh Beard, Louis Dunham, A.L. Moore, Clay Heath, Laughlin and Alfred Grass. All report a good time. Johnson City News: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walker spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Calvert spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Flowers and family. Miss Beulah Murphy spent Saturday night and Sunday with Miss Helen Lillard. Mr. and Mrs. Hays and little daughter visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith. Miss Ethel Crutchfield visited a few days last week with relatives at Walker, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dingus entertained Miss Olive Nevious, Pearl Majors, Audrey Clarice and Master Joe Beard the latter part of last week. Miss Minnie Johnson spent Thursday night and Friday with her brother Victor Johnson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Beard and family spent Sunday with Chas. Dingus and wife. Louis Ditty spent Thanksgiving with James Ditty and family. D.O. Short and wife of Mindea Mines returned home Sunday after spending a few days last week with his sister Mrs. C.G. Carroll and family. Ohio News: J.H. Bryant who has been visiting at the home of his father, C.H. Bryant, left last Wednesday for Oklahoma. The Pie Supper at Ohio Friday night was well attended. The pies sold well and they cleared something over $35. Mr. and Mrs. John Perkins and baby spent Monday with Fred Kast and family. Miss Katherine Heusel spent Thanksgiving with home folks. She left for Warrensburg Sunday. Fred Kast and family spent Sunday with Wm. Perkins and family. Guy Wilkins spent Thanksgiving with home folks. East Appleton News: Oliver Crowder and family spent Wednesday and Thursday at David Crowder's near Johnson City. Miss Leona Ingels spent the latter part of the week with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Baldwin of Clinton visited Thursday at M.T. Baldwin's. Misses Lucy and Donnis Gwin visited relatives near Ladue Thursday and Friday. R.T. Ring and family spent the past week with relatives in this neighborhood. Thanksgiving visitors at Mrs. Mary Ingels were Mr. Max Galt of Shawneetown, Illinois, A.H. Deweese and family, Ben Baskerville and family, Mr. J. Galt and daughter Louie. Barret Biles and family and Amos Pointer and family visited Thursday and Friday at Steve Pointer's. Dick Batchelor and family ate Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. John Batchelor's in Appleton City. Miss Birdie Warner, who is teaching school in Kansas, spent Thanksgiving with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Warner. Miss Ida Payne spent Thanksgiving with her cousin, Miss Martha Payne. Pleasant Gap News: Mrs. J. Fennewald entertained quite a number of guests last Friday.

Oscar Durand will show pictures of the Holy Land Tuesday night at Prairie City; also a pie supper for the benefit of the Sunday school. Miss Blanch Baker was the guest of Alma Link Sunday evening. |
