NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS:
John Pharis and daughter Opal, Miss Lelah and Miss Rusha Rains and Miss Ruby Cook went to Clinton Saturday to see Mrs. Clarence Raybourn, who is at the hospital there. She is improving nicely.

Miss Christie Sargent and brother spent Sunday with relatives near Ballard.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rains and daughters spent Sunday with the former's brother, Mr. Daisy Rains and family.

PRAIRIE HOME:
Silas Carpenter has been real sick. Dr. Taylor was summoned Monday and we are glad to say the patient is improving.

Jim Keeton and family visited at Frank Smith's Saturday night and Sunday.

Jim Barnett and family and Miss Armitta Thompson were visitors at Chalk Level Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Curt Thompson were Sunday visitors at Dan Waters'.

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Morris and daughter Russie, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Grass ate Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Lewis.

Mr. and Mrs. John Rosbrugh and children spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Page.

TABERVILLE:
Mrs. Heath visited her daughter, Mrs. Addis Allison, Saturday night and Sunday.

Mrs. Masterson spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Davidson.

Will Cotrell made a business trip to Appleton City Monday.

Miss Irene Heath visited with her cousin, Miss Beatrice Heath, Saturday night and Sunday.

There will be a pie supper at the Taberville school Thursday, November 9. Everybody come.

The speaking Saturday night was well attended and Mr. Baldwin and Mr. Wihema gave good talks.

There will be a pie supper at Rich Valley Saturday night, Nov. 11.

PLEASANT GAP:
A large crowd attended the revival meeting at the Apostolic church Sunday night. Bro. Humbard is the preacher.

"'Grandma"' Nafus spent the latter part of last week with Mrs. R. B. Wix.

Miss Ethel Culver spent Thursday night with Grace Fennewald.

Mr. and Mrs. Burt Harktrader and son Virgil attended preaching at the Apostolic church Saturday night.

A large crowd attended the funeral of Leonard Hegnauer of Appleton City at the Reformed church Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Sutmiller, of Hansen, Nebr., are visiting at the home of her son, J. H. Fennewald.

D. B. Sweezy, and old resident of Bates county, passed away Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sweezy, of Kansas City, were home at the time of his father's death.

Mrs. Tom Handcock and family attended meeting at the Apostolic church Sunday night.

"'Grandma"' Bellomy visited at the home of Ed Adams a few days ago.

I. H. Fennewald and family and Rev. A. R. Humbard and Henry Diehl took dinner at E. E. Sutton's Saturday.

MOUNT HOPE:
Walt Payne spent Friday night with Charles Holland.

The Mount Hope community was well represented at the Democratic rally and speaking at Montrose Saturday night. The auditorium was filled to its capacity and the audience was entertained by moving pictures, excellent music by the Clinton male quartette and Clinton orchestra and by speeches by two prominent men.

Mrs. Sarah Winbigler and Miss Ola Williams spent Wednesday night at the home of Frank Holland near Butler.

Mr. and Mrs. Rod Ingles, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Richards and son Winston, and Miss Bertha McElhaney were guests in the Charles Richards home last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ellis and sons visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holland last Sunday.

Rev. Oswald of Montrose preached an excellent sermon at Mount Hope last Wednesday evening. While in the community he visited with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Turner.

James Hughes, of Gallatin, Mo., visited with his sister, Mrs. Wesley Clark the first of the week.

Mrs. Gus Erhart has been entertaining her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lenora Bornhauser, and little son, of Boonville.

Miss Estella Johnston spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. Holland.

Ben Baskerville and Travis Payne delivered some fine calves to Montrose lat Thursday for shipment.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Fairman spent Sunday afternoon with Alfred Magruder and family.

Mrs. Bert Goodenough called on Mrs. Bruce Monday.

Several from the neighborhood attended the temperance lecture at Mt. Carmel Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Morlock's baby is very sick at this writing. Their many friends hope for its speedy recovery.

Mrs. A. L. Loach spent Tuesday with Mrs. Lester McConnell.

Jake Baldwin made a business trip to Clinton Thursday.

Mrs. Weichert visited her daughter, Mrs. Russell Williams, last week.

Mrs. N. Gwin and daughter, Lucy, visited Roland Gregg and family, Sunday.

Lester McConnell was on the sick list for several days last week.

Several of the adjoining schools are closed on account of Diphtheria.

Mrs. Chas. McConnell and Edward spent Sunday with Mrs. Russell Williams.

Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Casperson visited Charles Brownfield and family Sunday.

Mrs. Lewis Hollister has returned from a few days' visit in Johnson county.

Miss Minnie Neale is visiting relatives in Warrensburg.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Douglas of Taberville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Al Davis.

Sunday being the 63rd birthday of Mrs. J. B. Ditty a number of her relatives and friends gathered at her home with well filled baskets and many presents to help her enjoy the day. At present Mr. and Mrs. Ditty are entertaining their son Joe's wife and J. B. Jr. from Dillon, Mont., and are expecting the son soon. A very pleasant day was spent by those present, who, together with many friends, wish "'Aunt Henry"' and "'Uncle John"' many happy returns of the day. Mrs. B. F. Majors went to Oklahoma to visit her parents last week.

Ernest Crowder visited home folks near Iuka Springs over Sunday.

John Kotri is preparing to build an addition to his barn.

Chester Carpenter is helping Jas. Nevius with his fall work.

Mr. and Mrs. John McEwan moved to their Appleton City property last week, leaving Leslie and his bride in possession of the old home.

Ethel Jones visited with Lora Plympton Saturday and Sunday.

Joe Morgan and family spent last Sunday with Mrs. Morgan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell.

O. K. Crowder helped Bert Dines get logs to the saw mill last week.

Arthur Calhoun and family, who now live near Hook's Chapel attended Sunday School at Spring Grove and visited with the family of Joe Ditty last Sunday.

Clem Thralls and wife and Olive and Frank Nevius were callers at Mrs. Campbell's Sunday.
