Chas. Dingus is on the sick list this week.

Mrs. J.B. Ditty visited last week with Mrs. Jack Zink at Appleton City.

Mrs. Dr. Smith and daughter, Miss Thelma and Miss Mary, and Mrs. Mary Walters of Appleton City, spent Tuesday evening with Mrs. W.R. Owens.

Chas. Ditty and family visited Sunday with Arthur McIntyre.

C.G. Carroll and family and Mrs. J. Short and Mrs. Chas. Lillard visited Sunday with A.E. Carroll and family at Deepwater.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Fitch and daughter spent Sunday with John Dines and family.

Mrs. Flora Allison of Appleton City spent the week end with Mrs. Frank Goff.

Mrs. L. Kincheloe is visiting this week with Mrs. Chas. Dingus.

Worth Ridgway had the misfortune to lose his barn and most everything in it by fire Monday evening. We have not learned how the fire originated or whether any insurance was carried.

Mrs. Nellie Brown and children and John Gilbreath and daughter spent Sunday at El Dorado Springs.

George Brown returned home after spending a few weeks in Ohio and Illinois.

James Routsong was a business visitor here one day last week.

Miss Bertha Frever spent Sunday with Miss Gladys Holt.

The McDavitt pie supper was a success. $45.00 being taken in.

Mrs. Icie Robinson has her new hen house completed and is now ready to carry in the eggs.

The meeting at Pleasant Gap still continues with several additions to the church.

W. Sutton helped Mr. Dickey top Paffir corn Wednesday.

Mrs. David Dickey spent Tuesday with Mrs. Frank Diehl.

Little Wilma Diehl has been quite sick with the whooping cough, but is better at this writing.

Those who met and helped Mrs. Dickey quilt recently were: Mesdames Fox, Wix. Sutton, J. Wilson, Diehl; Misses Lucy and Katie Diehl and Ethel Culver. The children were: Harlan Wix, David Sweezy, Grace Diehl, Billy Brown and Willie Sutton. It is needless to say that all enjoyed themselves, especially at dinner time, and the quilt was lovely.

Little Ralph Wilson visited Raynard school Wednesday.

Mount Hope
We are having ideal fall weather.

W.B. Stanford and wife were Appleton City visitors Monday, guests of Mrs. McConnell.

Alva Winbigler and wife returned Saturday night from a ten days’ visit with the former’s father near St. Joe.

The pie supper given at Mt. Hope for the benefit of Enterprise school was a decided success. $59.50 being realized from the supper. A good program was rendered after which Mr. Ben Lampkin did his best in auctioning the boxes at the high dollar.

Mr. Guterman, a pioneer citizen of Appleton City, was laid to rest in Union cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mr. Guterman was a resident of this community a number of years ago and was held in high esteem by all.

Bro. Nickell of Montrose held services at Mt. Hope Sunday morning and evening. A good crowd was out and expressed a desire to have Bro. Nickell come again soon.

E.J. Erhart and family spent Sunday at Grandma Erhart’s.

Le Lole McConnell spent Saturday and Sunday with her cousin, Marjorie Stanford.

Bro. Nickell and wife and Oden Blew and family spent Sunday with J.A. Erhart and family.

Roy Browning of Round Prairie visited Saturday night and Sunday with his brother, Lee Browning.

Dr. Hampton and family of Shawnee spent Saturday night and Sunday with Mrs. Hampton’s mother, Mrs. E. Lampkin.

Eastern Bates
Mr. John Wilson died at his home near Spruce last Tuesday at eleven o’clock in the morning. He had been afflicted with paralysis for over two years. He leaves a wife and four children. Two are married and two are at home; also a brother and three sisters. The funeral was held at the home at one o’clock. He was buried at the Union Cemetery Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ira Eads were pleasant callers at the D.W. Russell home last Sunday.

Meeting at Pleasant Home church was well attended both Sunday morning and evening.

Clyde Reggereis, who has been visiting friends and relatives in this community, returned to Arkansas Monday morning.

The protracted meeting at Pleasant Gap is progressing nicely and good crowds are attending.

Miss Mabel Sutherland, who is attending high school at Butler, spent the weekend with home folks and also to attend the funeral of her uncle, Jno. Wilson.

We had a couple of very cold days last week, but the weather is warm and fine again.

Copeland Vicinity
The supper at Herbert Kirk’s Saturday night for the benefit of the Missouri Movement, was well attended.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester McConnell and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Smith attended services at the South Methodist church in Appleton City Tuesday night.
