Rev. Anderson filled his regular appointment at the M.E. Church Sunday.

Miss Maude Parker who has been visiting home folk has gone to Denver to practice her vocation of trained nurse.

Misses Ruby and Mildred Bennett who have been attending the Normal at Springfield have returned to their home north of town.

Robert Evans of Franklin, Ky., who had been visiting the past week with his cousin John Evans, left Sunday to visit relatives in Kansas. He was accompanied as far as Kansas City by John Evans.

Miss Opal Jarvis closed her music classes at Schell City and Rockville the past week. Her Class at Rockville numbered sixteen and Miss Hilda Kamm received the gold medal for making the most improvement during the term. Miss Audrey White received the medal at Schell City.

A very enjoyable afternoon was spent the past week by the following young people at the lake, at which time they took supper in the woods, which the ladies had prepared and taken along: Misses Veva Meyer, Kate Skillman, Pauline Sheen, Sarah Bradshaw, Odessa Gragg, Elizabeth Wolf, Pearl Ridgway, Della Brinkman, Esther Rush. Messrs. Fred Skillman, Estel Powell, Ralph Shoern, Mrs. Watt Trail, Mrs. R. Brown, Mrs. Gragg.

A large number of our young folks spent Sunday at Monegaw Springs.

Miss Alma Garling left the past week for an extended visit with relatives and friends at Bolivar.

John Houck of Leroy, Kans., who spent picnic time with friends have returned home last week.

Wallace Taylor of Independence, Kans., has been spending some time with the J.E. Powell family.

Walter Durand shipped his household goods from this place the past week preparatory to moving to Wyoming.

Mr. and Mrs. N.A. Ritchie, Mrs. E.R. Wells and Mrs. Pratt of Appleton City spent Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Powell.

Robinson & Railey and Clarence Parks, each shipped a car load of cattle to St. Louis Monday. Josephus Robinson and Mr. Parks accompanying the shipment.

Mrs. Chauncey Porter and daughters, Mrs. Stanley Dean and Miss Cora Porter recently attended the funeral of her mother, Mrs. A.F. Cope at Harwood; which was held at the Harwood M.E. Church. Mrs. Cope with her family came from Illinois in 1866 and settled in St. Clair county near Johnson City. She was well advanced in years at her death.

Mrs. Clarence Hough visited at the home of C.N. Hough last week.

Mrs. Grace Hough spent Saturday night with Mrs. Pearl Fitch.

Dan Moore is opening a coal bank on Billie Allison's farm.

Mrs. Jno. Nunn is quite sick with rheumatism at this writing.

Mrs. Jim Hoover was on the sick list this week.

Jno. Barnett was working the roads the last of the week.

Jno. Dark and wife visited Sunday with Herschel Hoover and wife.

Mrs. Jno. Dark and baby visited at the home of Ed. Larkin in Taberville Friday.

Miss Gladys Carroll is taking music lessons from Mrs. Moody Carroll.

Mrs. George Allinson and daughter and little son were visitors at W.S. Ridgeway's Thursday.

John Barnett was working on the phone line Wednesday.

Anderson Morton of St. Louis was visiting his sister, Mrs. Charles Mead the first of the week.

Misses Alma and Golda Allinson spent Wednesday night with their grandmother, Mrs. J. Bass and attended meeting at Taberville.

Mrs. Carlysle Douglas and daughter, Miss Corrine went to Monegaw Springs Thursday for a week's outing.

Quite a number of people are having to feed their stock on account of pastures drying up. Some have been feeding two or three weeks.
