Appleton City, MO 5 June 1913 Colepand Capers: Uncle Joe Baldwin visited at the home of E.B. Baldwin several days the past week. Wm. Bruce and wife were shopping in Appleton City Friday. Mrs. E.B. Baldwin and little daughter called on Mrs. G.B. Dorward Wednesday afternoon. Misses Nellie and Mary Robinson spent Sunday with Miss May Harbour. E.B. Baldwin, wife and baby visited Mr. Sapps in Henry County Sunday. Alec Dorward and Earnest Goodenough attended the picture show in Appleton City Saturday night. Marion Lewellen and family, and Martin Lewellen spent Sunday with H.E. Goodenough and family. H.E. Goodenough and wife transacted business in Appleton City Thursday. The Misses Rice at Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Noble. The well drillers who have been at work at the Louie Herring farm, moved to O.E. Rice's to drill a well deeper for him. Green Valley Items: Prayer meeting at this place was well attended Wednesday night. Miss Goldie Piepmeier was leader. Miss Leona Yonally who visited the past month with her aunt, Mrs. Dody, left Saturday morning for Brownington, where she will visit a few days with relatives before returning to her home in Kansas City. Dave Beauchamp spent Sunday with his friends Earl Brannon. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas and daughter of near Taberville visited with her sister Mrs. Al Davis. W.M. Earhart made a business trip to Osceola one day last week. Miss Grace Beauchamp spent Sunday with her friend, Miss Ola Dellar. Roy Brannon returned home one day last week from Kansas. He will visit for a short time with his parents and friends here. Mack Davis and father made a business trip to Appleton City Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Neale entertained Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. W. Neale and daughter Ruth, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts and daughter, Miss Clara, and Mr. and Mrs. S. Wenton. Mr. and Mrs. Kirtley entertained Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bock and Lula Sunday. Master Lloyd Duffey is visiting his sister, Mrs. Jack Walker this week. The Johnson City Band boys will give an ice cream supper at Johnson City Tuesday evening, June 10th. Everybody invited. Johnson City Jottings: Mrs. Jesse Perry spent the Sabbath with her sister, Mrs. Cantrell. W.R. Owens and wife spent the Sabbath with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dingus. T.J. Lisle and wife are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine boy in their home Monday evening. Mrs. R.N. Caton received a fine piano from Chicago last week. Leslie Smith and wife visited at the home of J.S. Hunter Sunday. Wilford Blendon and daughter left Sunday for Kansas City to visit relatives and attend to business matters. Dr. Smith's little daughter Mary is down with the measles this week. Another good rain will make one of the best "'tater"' crops we have had in this section for some time. The Osceola Republican reminds the farmers that wool is not so high as it was while Taft was at the helm, but we look for wool to go up before the end of Wilson's administration. That is the wool the politicians have pulled over the people's eyes. On Sunday evening, June 1st, 1913, Mr. Dowdy Shoemaker and Miss Elizabeth Beiser were united in the holy bonds of wedlock by Judge A.W. Allinson at his home. Mr. Joseph Beiser, brother of the bride, and Miss Alma Frisby came along to see that the knot was well tied. Mr. Shoemaker is one of Monegaw Township's prosperous farmers and a young man whose character is above reproach while Miss Beiser is a lady of refinement and has been one of Monegaw Township's leading school teachers for several years. They will make their home for the present with the groom's father, Robert Shoemaker. Their many friends wish for them a long happy and prosperous wedded life. |
