Appleton City Journal
Appleton City, MO Thursday, 26 March 1908 Ohio Mentions: The children of uncle Bobbie and aunt Sallie Williamson planned a surprise for their parents. Invitations had been given to special friends and Tuesday at 10 a.m., all at once and nothing first, the home of these dear old people was filled with joy greetings and a general house warming followed. At a proper hour everything that could tempt the appetite was brought from its incredible hiding place and while the physical strength was being renewed by those palatable viands, the mind layed up a goodly feast for future pleasures, each realizing that their souls had enjoyed a love feast from the association with this goodly household. Every heart was touched with the arrow of sadness when on last Tuesday the news reached our community of the death of our former neighbor and comrade, Mrs. J.W. Arnold who moved with her family to Mounds, Oklahoma two years ago. Though so very frail in body, her loyalty to righteousness was a strength to her soul and a guiding star to lead others heavenward for she ever looked unto Jesus the author and finisher of her faith. Mrs. Arnold was a true and tried white ribboner, a member of the Ohio W.C.T.C. for a number of years. The husband and eight surviving children have her life work to be a guide and a solace in their sorrow. Taberville News: Mrs. Will Reed is reported on the sick list again.
