Appleton City, MO 15 January 1920 Monegaw Marie Wilkerson spent Sunday with Effie Bean. Jimmie Lewellen is visiting his mother, Mrs. Geo. Bowdle. Mr. Wagner, who has been quite poorly, is some better at this writing. Bro. Hassman spent Sunday with W.L. Smith. Mrs. Sagaser has returned from Appleton where she has been visiting her son. Marie Wilkerson and Effie Bean visited Sunday with Alma Inskeep. The protracted meeting was resumed Sunday after having been postponed on account of stormy weather. Geo. H. Smith of Kansas City is expected Thursday. Everybody invited to attend. Clayton Jenkins and Muriel Smith attended church at Monegaw Sunday night. Marzie Moore of Kansas City is here for a visit with friends and relatives. Mr. Downer’s brother is here for a visit. Mrs. Sue Wilkerson called on Mrs. Ed Barker Saturday evening. Jake Barker and family and Burt Barker and family spent Sunday at Ed Barker’s. Mrs. Rowland and Miss Nora attended church at Monegaw Sunday night. Mrs. Pointer carried the mail of Route Two Saturday. Look! Bessie Barriscale at opera house tonight (Thursday) in “Satan’s Pawn”, adapted from “The Devil”. Prairie Home Mr. and Mrs. Curt Thompson spent Sunday with Mr. N.D. Lewis and family. J.D. Ross spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. J.C. Barnett and family. Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Thompson spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Armitta Mallicoat. Miss Hazel Moore spent Sunday with Mary Lila Barnett. A.M. Hopkins took hogs to Rockville Monday. Little Waneta Moore spent Sunday with Virginia Lewis. Ivan Lewis and family spent Sunday with his brother, N.D. Lewis. W.E. Moore took hogs to Rockville Monday. S.B. Davis visited a few days last week with J.C. Barnett. Mr. and Mrs. N.D. Lewis and Miss Hazel Moore were in Monegaw Springs Thursday. Harold Barnett is still visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rosbrough at this writing. Mrs. Woody and daughter spent Sunday with Melvin Woody. Alice Dain spent Sunday with Naomi Estes. Burt Dains and family spent Sunday with his father. Roscoe The farm sale of Irl Barnett’s was well attended Thursday, despite the snowstorm, and everything brought a good price. Spring calves sold for $54 a head and horses at $130 each. Dorothy Beaird spent Saturday night with Essie Coleman. Miss Marvel Wertz missed school last week on account of having an attack of tonsillitis. Joe Lusk and Bert Dain took dinner with M.J. Johnson Saturday. Walt Fullerton was out taking the census last week. Norman Coleman’s family are all sick with lagrippe this week. Bert Winningham, one of our farmers, is moving to Vernon County, where he will make his home. New sign posters were put up the first of the week along the new proposed State Highway that comes via Roscoe. |
