New Year Greeting
January 1, 1920, was the beginning of another year, and also a day that was pleasantly spent at Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Hill’s, by a few friends and relatives. At the noon hour they all gathered around the table to enjoy the appetizing dinner that was placed before them. The afternoon was spent in conversation. The afternoon was only half long enough, as evening came all too soon, when everyone had to return to their homes, wishing Mrs. Hill and family many happy New Years in their new home, as they will soon leave our neighborhood.
Those present during the day were Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Lough, Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Smith and daughter Nevaleen, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hill and daughter Hazen Lenore, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. A.W. Wood Buys Farm
Through the efforts of R.S. Woodridge, one of Harrisonville’s best known real estate agents, a deal was closed this week for the sale of the Frank W. Richardson farm of 282 acres, three miles south of Freeman to Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Wood, who have lived a few miles northeast of Harrisonville for some six years past, and who recently disposed of their farming interests in that community. The cash consideration in this transaction was $36,000.00, and possession will be delivered to the new owner on March 1, 1920, after which the Wood family will occupy the place as their permanent home.
Mr. and Mrs. Wood are well known in this county, their former home, Mr. Wood being a son of W.H. Wood, and Mrs. Wood is a daughter of the late Wesley Griffith. She has won extensive popularity throughout the country as a “woman farmer”.

Katy Trains To Change
A change in the time card of Katy passenger trains is announced to go into effect Sunday, Jan. 11th. What the changes are have not been made public as yet and it would be well for those expecting to make trips to look into the new schedule. Possibly the only change will be to run the trains on time, which would be a big improvement.
