BY ?? (none found). They are enumerated on the 1870 St. Clair County
MO census, Speedwell TWP as (note* my gggrandfather Herbert Whitley
was not born until 10AUG1870, and the census was taken on 29JUL1870):

Robert Whitley's parents were William Whitley and Celia/Sealy Duncan
married on 18SEP1828 in Shelby Co. IL. William was born in April 1806,
in White County TN, and died on 17JUL1860 in St. Clair County MO.
My gggrandfather Herbert Richard Whitley was born on 10AUG1870 &
died on 07APR1955 in Independence, Jackson Co. MO. He is buried at
Woodlawn Cemetery as is his brother Elmer, and his adopted son Alba
"Sam" Whitley, and his daughter (my ggrandmother) Allene
Whitley Tetu. My gggrandmother Marjorie/Margery Alphadrine Whitley
was born on 01MAR1847 in MO & died on her 83rd birthday, 01MAR1930,
in Independence, Jackson Co. MO and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Here is her obit from the Independence Examiner:
DIED ON 83RD BIRTHDAY. FUNERAL OF MRS. MARJORIE A. HILL, 406 E. WALNUT.
TODAY, MRS. M.A. HILL, WIDOW OF ROLAND HILL (*NOTE-2ND HUSB.), DIED
AT HOME SATURDAY, MARCH 1, 1930. SHE DIED ON HER 83RD BIRTHDAY. SHE
IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER, MRS. SILAS BAKER, AND 2 SONS (OF THE HOME),
ELMER & HERBERT WHITLEY & A SISTER, MRS. JOHN HALL; 5 GRANDDAUGHTERS,
3 GRANDSONS, AND 4 GGRANDCHILDREN. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE AT THE HOME
BY REV. L.M. PROCTOR. BURIAL IN WOODLAWN CEMETERY.
I have not found the death info for Herbert's father Robert Whitley
yet, but suspect that he died in Jackson Co. MO. "Margie"
W. Hill applied for a widow's pension for Robert Whitley on 07JUL1897,
stating that Robert Whitley served during the Civil War for the St.
Clair County Volunteer Militia. I will be happy when I get the pension
file, although her app. was probably rejected unless for their children,
as she had already remarried.
