Miss Jessie Hovard Married
The marriage of Miss Jessie Hovard of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and Mr. Rufus Sparrow of Antwerp, Ohio was solemnized in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Lacy at Center, on March 1, 1942. The single ring ceremony was read by Rev. John W. Golden, pastor of the First Christian Church of Hannibal. Mrs. Lacy sang “Savior Lead Us” and played softly during the ceremony. Mrs. Sparrow has been employed the past 15 years in the Lincoln National Bank and Trust Co., at Ft. Wayne. Mr. Sparrow by the International Harvester Co. March 3 a large crowd charivaried the newlyweds in the home of Walter Penn and wife. April 4th a miscellaneous shower was given them in the home of Mrs. Kate Hovard, Lowry City. Nearly 100 of their friends and neighbors were present. Refreshments of coffee and cup cakes were served. The following gifts were received: Qt. blackberries-hominy, J.E. Lysinger and wife; qt. peaches, Otis Frasier and wife; granite kettle, Jim Lysinger and wife; vase, A.E. Armstrong and wife; vase of flowers, R.E.
