was born November 17, 1951 to Jack and Nadine Shockley in Prineville, Oregon. On October 12, 2012 at 4:59 PM, surrounded by family, Danny won his battle with cancer when he left his earthly body behind to get to walk the streets of heaven. Danny grew up in Sum-mersville, where he attended school and graduated in 1968. Danny served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1972 and was stationed in Vietnam. After returning from the service, Danny married Deborah Derryberry on August 27, 1972. Danny and Debbie moved to Branson where Danny finished his education degree at School of the Ozarks. Returning to Summersville as a teacher, coach and principal, he began a career that would span 30 years, allowing him the opportunity to touch the lives of countless students, teachers and staff. Danny had a deep love for his Lord and Savior and served as a teacher, deacon, and elder at the First Christian Church of Summersville, where he was used by his Lord to bring many people to the knowledge of needing Christ in their lives. Next to his relationship to the Lord was his love for his family. Danny and Debbie’s family included two daughters, one son, and nine grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by them: Michelle (Shockley) Miley and husband, Gilbert, with Zachary, Abigail, and Drew of Winona; Brad Shockley and wife, Katie, with Grace, Jacob, and Joshua of Cabool; and Angie (Shockley) Jester and husband, Richie, with Alexis, Tytus and Chloe of Cabool. Outdoor activities were on the top of the list of things that Danny enjoyed, and he enjoyed them most when they were done with family and friends. Deer season always meant time with family and friends gathered around the campfire telling old hunting tales. Fishing was always a special time with the grandchildren. Norfork Lake was often a destination where the Shockley clan would be found fishing, boating and camping out. Family vacations and group outings filled the years with special memories.  Danny was blessed by deep friendships with many people from his home church, local schools, and area communities where he was well known as a strong Christian, good friend and a man of integrity.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Shockley. Danny is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home, their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Nadine; brother, Richard and wife, Vicki Shockley of Summersville; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and special Aunts. Danny will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Summersville with Rev. Paul Hamm officiating. Interment with Military Honors was at Bethel Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
