STELLA M. HICKS OAKLEY - Born August 15, 1924 at Fordwich, Virginia to James Edward Hicks and Annie Virginia Morris. She passed
away March 23, 2004 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Mo. at the age of
79 years. On September 23, 1940, Stella was united in marriage to Paul C. Oakley
in Fayetteville, West Virginia. To this union five children were born. Stella is
preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson and one sister. She is
survived by four sons, Paul F. Oakley of Ellis Grove, Ill., James Oscar Oakely
of Midway, Ohio, Johnnie Lee Oakley of Cahokia, Ill. and Robert Lloyd Oakley of
Eminence; one daughter, Ann Marie Copelin of Morrisonville, Ill.; one sister,
Maggie Kratz of Glen Carbon, W. Va.; 11 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren. Stella attended the United Methodist Church of Eminence and
was a member of the Eastern Star. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew
and loved her. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26 at Duncan
Funeral Chapel in Eminence with Rev. James Doyle officiating. Interment was in
Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona, Mo., under the direction of Duncan

Daniel Thomas 'Dan' O'Bannon was
born Sep. 30, 1946 at Saint Louis, MO, and passed away in Los Angles CA on Dec.
17, 2009 at the age of 63. He suffered from Crohn’s Disease. Danny, as he was
known when he attended high school in the early 1960s at Winona, MO, was the son
of Thomas Sidney O’Bannon, a carpenter, and Bertha Lowenthal O’Bannon. They
owned property just east of Winona on old highway 60, known locally as ‘Odd
Acres.’ Dan married Diane Louise Lindley January 18, 1986. She and a son,
Adam, survive. Dan achieved fame for his work in the
film industry, but not before many highs and lows in his career. Many
articles are to be found online by keying in his name in a search box on
Google or Yahoo. His career was quite impressive and he had a profound
impact on the world of science fiction and horror movies.

Robert Zeke Oberzalek was born
April 26, 1948 at Birch Tree, MO the son of Zeke W. Oberzalek and
Virginia M. (Denton) Oberzalek. He passed away September 15, 2017 at his
home in Birch Tree, MO at the age of 69 years. Bob was united in
marriage to Claudia Jean Brown on June 28, 1981 at their home in Birch
Tree, MO. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Zeke and Virginia
Oberzalek; a brother Stanley Oberzalek; and a brother-in-law Jack
Smotherman. Bob is survived by his wife Claudia Oberzalek of the home in
Birch Tree, MO; one brother Frank Oberzalek and wife Georgie of Tacoma,
WA; one sister Linda Smotherman of Mountain View, MO; his brother-in-law
Jim Brown and fiancé Lisa Nielson of Forest Lake , Minnesota; his cousin
Diana Knutsen of Lexington, SC; many nieces, nephews and a host of other
family and friends. Bob graduated from Birch Tree High School in 1966.
He attended SMSU in Springfield, MO and obtained his undergraduate
degree and later graduated from the University of Missouri Law School.
Bob’s first job after law school was working for a judge in Springfield,
MO. He later worked with attorney David Neal practicing law in the area
before he began his many years as the Prosecuting Attorney for Shannon
County. Bob later partnered with attorney Charles Cantrell at the
Cantrell and Oberzalek Law Office in Mountain View, MO. Bob enjoyed
being in the outdoors fishing and watching wildlife when he had the free
time to do so. He loved sports and following various teams. He enjoyed
keeping up with and discussing current events. Bob enjoyed the times he
spent with friends and family especially playing jokes and pranks on
them in good fun. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved
him. Visitation will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 from 1PM until
3PM at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree, MO. Memorial Services
will be held at 3PM at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Birch Tree, MO.

ZEKE WALTER OBERZALEK - Born December 20, 1910 in Chicago, IL the son of Zeke
and Frances CHERVENKA OBERZALEK and departed this life on February 21, 1992 at
St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, MO at the age of 81 years. He was united
in marriage to Virginia Maxine DENTON on May 29, 1942 at Tulsa, Oklahoma and to
this union four children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; and
one son, Stanley Gene. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Birch Tree, MO;
two sons, Franklin D. OBERZALEK of Tacoma, Washington; and Robert Zeke OBERZALEK
and wife Claudia of Birch Tree, MO; one daughter, Linda SMOTHERMAN and husband
Jack of Mountain View, MO; two sisters, Frances KNUTSEN of Ashville, North
Carolina; and Helen HARRIS and husband, William of Sarasota, Florida, one niece,
Diane KNUTSEN; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Zeke was a
member of the VFW post of Mountain View and a member of the First Baptist Church
of Birch Tree. “Sometimes the road to life seems long as we travel through the
years, and with a heart that's broken and eyes brimful of tears; we falter in
our weariness and sink beside the way, but God leans down and whispers, ‘Child,
there'll be another day’. And the road will grow much smoother and much easier
to face, so do not be disheartened, this is just a resting place. Until we meet
again, Dad and see your loving face.” Funeral services were held Tuesday,
February 25, 1991 at 1 pm in the First Baptist Church at Birch Tree with Rev.
Truman PULLIAM officiating. Interment was in Oak Forrest Cemetery under the

Avery L. O’Dell - Son of the late Edgar and Artha Mae Yates O’Dell was born
February 6, 1927 in Garwood, Missouri and departed this life December 11, 2010
in the Poplar Bluff regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He had
attained the age of eighty tree years, ten months and five days. Avery had lived
in Carter County all his life. He was a timber worker and worked for the Nichols
Stave Mill. He was of the General Baptist faith and was a member of the Mt. Zion
Church, where he was a Deacon for over fifty years. He was united in marriage to
Myrtle Jones on June 21, 1949 in Garwood, Missouri, to this union seven children
were born, she precede him in death on October 19, 1989. Avery then married Edna
Hughey on July 1, 1990 in Ellsinore, Missouri. Avery loved to travel, camp, and
play music, he would often travel to Arizona were they would stay for the winter
months at a campground for people who also loved to play music. He also enjoyed
hunting for coon and fox. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond
O’Dell, Rell O’Dell, and Dwain O’Dell; three sisters Edna Usery, Geneva Young,
and Gearlene Hampton, and one great grandchild Evan Potter. Survivors include
his wife Edna, four sons, Jerry O’Dell of Trinidad, Texas, Lee O’Dell of
Ellsinore, Mike O’Dell of Van Buren, and Gary O’Dell and his wife Sherry of
Fremont, Missouri; three daughters, Donna Crowley and her husband Jerry of
Ellsinore, Joyce Santhuff and her husband Steve of Centerville, and Patty Struyk
of Garwood; one step-son, Jim Coleman and wife Brenda of Prairie Grove, Ark.;
two step-daughters, Tammy Fisher and husband, Charlie and Dianna Deaton of all
of Poplar Bluff; two sisters Audrey Hampton of Laramie, Wyoming and Delphia Gair
of Byers, Colorado; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren;
eight step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren and many other
relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.
EUGENA LENORA 'GENNIE' COUNTS O'DELL - Born Aug. 29, 1923 to Albert and Dessie (Brewster) Counts on
Little Shawnee Creek. She departed this life on Dec. 17, 2003 at St. John’s
Hospital in Springfield, Mo., after a long illness. Gennie was preceded in death
by her husband, Gene; one son, Johnny Eugene II; her parents; her sister Flora
Bland; great-grandson Nolan Barkley; great-great grandson Brey Barkley; two
sons-in-law, Gerald Meade and Bill Chilton; and her mother and father-in-law.
She is survived by one son, Ben and his wife Peggy of Fredrick, Md.; four
daughters, Kay and husband Richard Fair of Desoto, Mo., Joyce and husband Jim
Barrett of Winona, Mae Ruth and husband Jim Bockman of Birch Tree, and Maureen
Chilton of Winona; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great
grandchildren; two step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren; one
sister, Floy Bowie of Winona, with whom she shared a very special relationship;
and three brothers, Carl and wife Jonell Counts of Fremont, Mo., and Clavin and
Burlin Counts of Fremont, Mo. Gennie worked over 30 years at Paramount Cap in
Winona, where she held a supervisor position for many years and was loved and
respected by all who worked for her. She was an avid gardener and grew an
abundance of both vegetables and flowers which she loved to share with family
and friends. She enjoyed feeding and watching the many birds at her feeders, and
was usually to be found, when not in her garden, surrounded by her many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved dearly. She was “Ganny
O’Dell” to many young people who were not related, but were a very important
part of her life. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22 at the
Winona Assembly of God with Darrell Jones officiating. Interment was in Bethany
Chapel Cemetery in Eminence, under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of

James David O’Dell was born
July 24, 1947 at Kansas City, MO the son of William R. O’Dell
and Josephine (Martin) O’Dell. He passed away January 22, 2017
at Poplar Bluff, MO at the age of 69 years. Dave was united in
marriage to Debra Sanders on August 23, 2001. Dave was preceded
in death by his parents William R. O’Dell and Josephine O’Dell.
Dave is survived by his wife Debra O’Dell of Birch Tree, MO; two
sons Robert Byerly of Eminence, MO, and Ronnie Byerly of
Eminence, MO two daughters Katrina Steimel and husband Adam of
Salem, MO and Jennifer Foster and fiancé C.D. Hall of Salem, AR;
eight grandchildren Shelby Byerly, Meagan Byerly, Austin Byerly,
Jacob Neal, Jeremiah Foster, Jordan Foster, Hunter Hall, and
Emily Hall; and a host of other family and friends. Dave served
in the United States Marine Corp as a Corporal during the
Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient and received many
other awards and commendations including the National Defense
Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal,
Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and the Combat
Action Ribbon. During his time in the Marine Corp he served as a
Jet Engine Mechanic. Dave lived in the Kansas City area for
several years after he returned home from the service. He worked
as a contractor and a carpenter in residential and commercial
construction. After living in the Kansas City area, Dave moved
to the Lake of the Ozarks and 30 years ago he moved to the
Eminence area. Dave was active in the community and spent the
last several years actively involved with the Eminence Volunteer
Fire Department. He served as a Board Member for several years,
and as the Chairman of the Eminence Volunteer Fire Department.
Dave enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with family
and friends. He enjoyed playing music and was a noted musician.
He played the guitar and sang with various groups in the area.
Many people in the area were blessed to hear Dave perform at
Flossie’s in Winona, MO, Winfield’s in Eminence, MO and at the
Music in the Park in Mountain View, MO among others. Dave was a
wonderful husband, father, and friend. He will be sadly missed
by all who knew and loved him. Interment at Delaware Cemetery in
Shannon County.

JEAN L. O'DELL - Age 73 of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away at his home on Sunday
following a long illness. He was born on May 30, 1917 in Ellington Reynolds Co
MO, the son of Oscar O. and Effie ROLLINS O'DELL. He was an account executive in
the women's ready to wear industry and was also involved in starting new
companies. He married Wilma LEWIS on March 12, 1939 in Greenville, MO. He
maintained an office in Minneapolis for many years before his retirement. He was
a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Iowa City and was also a member
of the University Athletic Club, Sertoma Club, Central Western Marketing
Association, past member of Rotary and was on the board of directors for the
Winona Savings Bank, Winona. He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Iowa City, IA;
two daughters, Kathy ‘Katy’ O'DELL of Iowa City, IA, and Maureen KEEFNER of
Boulder, CO., five grandchildren and a sister, Roxie KNIGHT of Springfield, MO;
and aunt and uncle, George and Gladys ROLLINS of Winona. He was preceded in
death by his parents. Memorial services were held Friday at 3 pm at St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, with the Reverends Mark MARTIN & Blake RICHTER officiating.

Stella Rea WIGGERS O'DELL and departed this life on September 10, 1990 at St.

was married to Thelma THOMAS on April 9, 1945 and to this union three children
were born. She preceded him in death December 23, 1981. He later married Fern
BERRY JOHNSON on September 16, 1982 at Winona, MO. He was preceded in death by
his parents; his wife, Thelma; and one brother, Paul. He is survived by his
wife, Fern of the home; two sons, Billy J. O'DELL of Harrison, Arkansas; and
Randy L. O'DELL of Eminence, MO; one daughter, Judy Ann OGAWA of Cerritos,
California; one step-son Donnie JOHNSON of Winona, MO; and one step-daughter,
Fernice SMITH of Van Buren, MO; one sister, Mae RUSSELL of Eminence, MO; three
grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Johnny was
a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Winona, MO. Funeral services were

JOHNNY EUGENE 'GENE' O'DELL - Born Nov. 20, 1922, to Isaac
Benjamin 'Ben' O'Dell and Ruth Hattie Mae Wright O'Dell at West Eminence,
Shannon Co MO. He departed this life on May 3, 2002, at St John's Hospital in
Springfield, Greene Co MO. Johnny attended Owl's Ben School on Current River and
the Horner School on Rocky. On August, 15, 1942, he was united in marriage to
Eugena Lenora 'Gennie' Counts, the daughter of Charles 'Albert' Counts and
Dessie Mae Brewster Counts. To this union six children were born. Gene was
preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Everett Williams; his sister,
Mabel Hunt; his son, Johnny Eugene, Jr.; great grandson Nolan 'T.J.' Barkley;
great great grandson Brey Barkley; two sons-in-law, Gerald Meade and Bill
Chilton; and his father and mother in law, Albert & Dessie Counts. He is
survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Gennie, of the home; one son, Ben and
wife Peggy O'Dell of Frederick, MD; four daughters, Kay and husband Richard Fair
of DeSoto, MO; Joyce and husband Jim Barrett of Winona; Mae Ruth and husband Jim
Bockman of Birch Tree, and Maureen Chilton of Winona. Also surviving are 13
grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 step
grandchildren and 4 step great-great grandchildren. Gene provided for his family
by working construction and for the National Park Service as Maintenance
Supervisor at Round Spring for several years until his health forced retirement
in 1985. His later years were spent operating his farm and tending his cattle.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors and spending time
with his many friends, but his greatest joy was being surrounded by his loving
family. Gene was a fixture at the cafe and stores around Winona where his quick
wit and stories would entertain for hours. His grin and laughing blue eyes will
always live in our memory. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May
6, 2002, at the Winona Assembly of God Church with Rev. Darrell Jones and Sonny
Koogler officiating. Interment was in the Bethany Chapel Cemetery near Eminence
under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home.
Mary Mae Daniels O'Dell
- Daughter of the late James Monroe and Bessie (Hill) Daniels,
was born July 1, 1928, in Van Buren, Mo., and departed this life on Jan.
12, 2011, in Winona, Mo. She had attained the age of 82 years, six
months and 11 days. Mrs. O'Dell had resided in Winona for the past few
years and was formerly of Van Buren and Laramie, Wyo., where she was a
waitress at the Chief Cafe. She was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed
watching television. On Apr. 20, 1978 she was united in marriage to
Raymond O'Dell in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by four brothers, W. M. "Bud", Lloyd, Ernest, and Noah
Daniels; and three sisters, Mae Cowin, Faye Cletcher and Ruth Boyer.
Survivors include four children; Charles L. Herrington and wife,
Margaret, of Van Buren, Charlene Stephens and husband, Pastor Dick, and
Wanda Kay Martin and husband Gerald, all of Winona, and Teddie Jo Boeh
and husband, Brian, of Eldridge, Iowa; two brothers, Willis Daniels of
Florida and Jack Daniels of Monrovia, Calif.; two sisters, Virginia
Miller of Azusa, Calif., and Ruby Ross of Buckeye, Ariz.; seven
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren
and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who mourn
her passing. The visitation was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15,
2011, in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Mo., with the funeral
following at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dick
Stephens officiating. Burial was in Gresham Cemetery northeast of Van
Buren.

PAUL O'DELL - Born April
7, 1920 to Oscar and Stella WIGGERS O’DELL at
Eminence, Missouri and departed this life on August 28, 1989 at the age of 69
years, 4 months and 21 days. Paul attended school in and around the Eminence
area. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On
August 21, 1970 he was united in marriage to Thelma WILLIAMS. He had three sons
by previous marriages: Jim of Texas, Jerry of Columbia, Missouri and Gary of St.
Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Following military duty, he worked for Brown Shoe Company in Steelville, Good
Will Industries in St. Louis and as a custodian at the Shannon County
Courthouse. Following his retirement, he kept busy cutting wood and doing odd
jobs for people. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; sons, Jim, Jerry and Gary;
one brother, Johnnie; one sister, Mae RUSSELL; grandchildren; nieces; nephews;
numerous cousins and friends. Paul will be sadly missed by everyone who knew
him. He was a friendly, outgoing man who enjoyed visiting and joking with
everyone. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 30, at 10 am in the
Duncan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Duane GOFORTH officiating. Interment was in
Munsell Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.

THELMA WILLIAMS O'DELL - Born December 4,
1909 at Gang, Mo. in Shannon County, the daughter of Dock Goforth and Malissa
(Mooney) Goforth. She entered into rest on July 26, 2007 at the age of 97 years,
7 months and 23 days. She was united in marriage to Otto Williams on November
21, 1926 and to this union one son was born. Otto preceded her in death after 43
years of marriage on February 16, 1969. She later married Paul O'Dell on August
21, 1970 at Eminence, Mo. Paul preceded her in death on August 28, 1989. Thelma
was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Otto and Paul; one infant
son; five sisters Gracie Prewett, Clara Wiggers, Elva Ferguson, Opal Dixon and
Lena Goforth and one brother, Raymond D. Goforth. Thelma is survived by her
beloved foster daughter Charlene Tweet; Charlene's two daughters LaReva Osborne
and Sharon Tweet; and her three grandchildren TaSheena, LaRissa and Shantae
Osborne; one sister in-law Pauline Goforth of Eminence, Mo.; four nieces Gladys
Hodge and Fern Hunt of Eminence, Mo., Reva Davis of Arkansas and Loudean
Knuckles of House Springs, Mo.; five nephews Curtis Ferguson of Cortez, Colo.,
Willis Ferguson of Colo., Leemon Ferguson of Cortez, Colo., Howard Ferguson of
Winona, Mo, and Duane Goforth of Republic, Mo.; and a host of other friends and
loved ones. Thelma and Ott were married in 1926 and their one son died at birth.
She and Ott loved children and they helped raise her niece Gladys Williams
Hodge. When Gladys married, she had a daughter Charlene Johnson Tweet. Thelma
and Ott took on the role of foster parents for Charlene and loved her like their
own. Thelma lived in the Eminence area for most of her life. She attended school
at Simpson school at Blairs Creek. She loved to garden and work in the yard
until her health failed. She always enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.
Thelma was active in service of her Lord and Savior from a young age until age
took its toll. She was of the Pentecostal faith and became a preacher at 19
years of age. She preached at brush arbors, schools and many places in the area.
Thelma pastored the Union Church for many years until it closed. She also
attended church at Winona and at Bethany Chapel until her health didn't allow
her. Funeral Services were held Monday, July 30, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Duncan
Funeral Chapel in Eminence, with Rev. Duane Goforth officiating. Interment was
in New Eminence Cemetery at Eminence, under the direction of the Duncan Funeral
Home of Eminence.
LAVADA K. WARREN ODOM - Born on March 13, 1923 in Eminence, Missouri to Jesse
WARREN and Rosland WOODS. She departed this life on January 16, 2005 at
Edwardsville, Illinois at the age of 81 years. Lavada was united in marriage to
Charles E. ODOM on October 31, 1942 and to this union two children were born.
Lavada was an employee for Central State Diversified in St. Louis as a piece
worker for 27 years. She retired in 1982. She was a member of the Emmanuel
Baptist Church in Granite City, Illinois. Lavada is preceded in death by her
loving husband, Charles E. ODOM, her parents, three sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her son Kenneth and his wife Erika ODOM of Granite City,
Illinois and her daughter Brenda and her husband Ken THOLE of Suffolk, Virginia,
also 4 grandchildren; Scott SCHOENHART, Brad SCHOENHART, Eric ODOM and Karen
SPRINGMAN; nine great- grandchildren, three brothers, Carmel WARREN of Denver,
Colorado, Joe WARREN of Winona, Missouri and William ‘Bill’ WARREN of
Springfield, Missouri. Funeral services were held at Irwin Chapel in Granite
City, Illinois on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, with Rev. Steve KENDRICK
officiating. Grave side services were held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 1pm
at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Winona, Missouri with Rev. Glen HAMPTON officiating.
James Arthur 'Jim'
Oldenkamp - Born on August 31, 1935, near Sanborn, Iowa. He was the
son of John G. and Anna (Vlaming) Oldenkamp. Jim lived his youth in the
Sanborn area and attended area country schools and the Sanborn Christian
Grade School, where he graduated from the eighth grade. He was united in
marriage to Laura M. Siedsma, of Melvin, Iowa, on January 22, 1960, in
Woodstock, Illinois. They lived and farmed in rural Archer, Iowa until
August 31,1996 when he retired. They lived in Winona, Eunice and Maryville,
Missouri, and Worthington, Minnesota, before moving to Geddes, South Dakota
to be near their daughter. In July of 2009, they moved to Sibley, Iowa. Tim
attended the First Baptist Church in Sibley. Jim was a handyman. He enjoyed
fixing anything. When he lived in Archer, Iowa, he enjoyed traveling and
enjoyed fishing at Silver Lake in Lake Park, Iowa and up north in Minnesota.
Jim was very outgoing. He loved to visit and took a genuine interest in the
people he met. He adored his grandchildren and will be remembered as a
loving husband, father and grandfather. He passed away on Wednesday,
September 9, 2009 at his home in Sibley. Those left to cherish his memories
are his wife, Laura (Siedsma) Odenkamp, Sibley, IA; his children: Kevin
(Kristen) of Austin, MN and their children, Kelsey and Kassidy; Kelly,
Lakeville MN, and children Caresse, Elisha and Tanner; Vonda (Chad)
Clements, Rowlett TX and children, Cody, Kayloni and Chelsea; Stephanie
(Jason) Meyer, Warrensburg, MO and daughter Mykalia; Theresa (Matt) Dykstra,
Platte, SD and sons, David and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his
parents, and one brother. Arrangements were made by Andringa Funeral Home of
Sibley, Iowa with services held Saturday, September 12, at 10 AM in the

Ella Lottie Olsen was born July 12, 1918 at
Chicago, IL the daughter of Robert Lincoln Sample and Ella (Simon)
Sample. She passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Birch Tree, MO at
the age of 95 years. She was united in marriage to Willard Raymond
Olsen on September 25, 1959 at Wheaton, IL. Ella is preceded in
death by her parents; husband Willard Olsen; and her twin brother at
an early age. Ella worked 17 years
for the Jewell Tea Company in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Ella and her
husband Will became acquainted with this area where they spent
vacations and made friends with people here. They lived in Chicago,
IL and when retirement time came they chose the Ozarks as their home
in 1963. They bought land on the Jack’s Fork River above Eminence
and built a home there. When Will’s health was failing they saw the
need to move into town. Selling their place on the river they built
a new house on school house hill. Ella and Will were very talented
people. Will made beautiful wood carvings and furniture and Ella was
a master quilter creating beautiful wall hangings and other sewing
crafts. The couple had no children. She was a faithful member of the
Eminence Methodist Church. Through the years she served as Sunday
school teacher, sang in the choir, and supported the church
financially. She would often give young people money for church
trips etc. She never wanted her giving known by others. Ella loved
to walk and would make visits to friends and shut-ins along her
path. Ella was an avid reader and a very accomplished person. When
Ella’s health began to fail, she could no longer live at home. She
lived in the Birch Tree Place until her death. Ella leaves a host of
friends here in the community. Graveside Service JUL 9, 2014,

LOUISE MARION KROGH OLSON
- Louise Marion Olson, 87, was born November 8,
1923, on a farm south of Regent, ND to Christ and Marie Ness Krogh
and departed her earthly life on August 4, 2011, at the Kabul
Nursing Home, Cabool, MO. She completed the eight year education
program at the rural school, Alden #2, near her home. On October 3,
1943, she was united in marriage to Lester Bud Olson. To this union,
four children were born. Louise was a full-time homemaker and
mother. She enjoyed cooking and baking delicious goodies for the
enjoyment of her family and friends, and was always on the 'look
out' for a new recipe to try. She also spent many enjoyable hours
tending her flower and vegetable gardens. In her later life, she enjoyed playing cards with
friends, walking to the store and post office and visiting with
friends along the way. She missed those walks and her friends when
she moved to Missouri to be near her son in Sept of 2003 due to
health issues. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Regent,
ND. She was baptized at the Richland Lutheran Church and confirmed
at Faith Lutheran Church, formerly known as English Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; a son, Curtis; daughter-in-law, Laura Olson; sister, Margie
Krug and brother, Clarence Krogh. She is survived by her children Richard Olson and
wife Julie, Lochbuie, CO; Wes Olson, Summersville, MO; and Charlene
Lantz and husband Richard Bergerson, Mott, ND; seven grandchildren:
Robbie Olson, Ricky Olson and wife Karen, Dion Olson and wife
Rachel, Alicia Osei and husband Damien, Kristi Olson, Michael Lantz,
Anthony Lantz and wife Janice; great granddaughter Arian Olson and
expected great granddaughter in September; two sisters, Orlean
Rysavy, Portland, OR, and Joyce Gatzke and husband Herb, Regent, ND,
and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held at Mott; North Dakota,
Monday August 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Interment was in Regent Cemetery
in Regent, North Dakota. Local arrangements were under the care of
Bradford Funeral Home.
WILLARD RAYMOND OLSEN - Born March 9, 1909 in St. Louis, MO to William OLSEN
and Mabel ADAMSON. He passed away April 9, 1992 at Willow Care Nursing Home in
Willow Springs, MO at the age of 83 years. Willard was united in marriage to
Ella SAMPLE on September 25, 1959 in Wheaton, IL. He owned a small variety store
on the west side of Chicago, IL for some years and also worked for Kroehler
Furniture Co. He was an inspector at Reynolds Aluminum before retiring early to
live in the Ozarks at Eminence, MO since 1963. Willard had a special talent with
wood and enjoyed making a wide variety of crafts. He also refinished and
restored furniture for about 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents
and his brother, Donald OLSEN. He is survived by his wife, Ella, his
sister-in-law, Eileen OLSEN, and two nieces, Joan ASPHEY and Janis OLSEN, and
great niece, Jennifer ASPHEY, all of Wheaton, IL; cousins, Marian HOLLOWED of
Naperville, IL; and Raymond STANGE of Westchester, IL; and many friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, April 11, 1992 at Munsell Cemetery at
Eminence with Bro. Harold DEWEESE officiating. Arrangements were under the

LOUISE M. MCCLELLAN OLSHEWSKY - Age 80, died Friday,
May 11, at her home in Belleair Bluffs, Florida. Born in Eminence,
Missouri, December 11, 1903, she moved to Florida from South Bend, Indiana in
1971. Mrs. Olshewsky was the third child of John W. McClellan and Helene
Rachell Courtney McClellan. She graduated an honor student from Eminence
High School in 1924 and from the University of Missouri in 1927, with a B.S.
degree in education. Survivors include three sons, Val J. Olshewsky of Oak Park,
IL; Thomas M. Olshewsky of Lexington, KY; and James C. Olshewsky of Golden,
Colorado, a sister, Marguerite Hixson of Belleair Bluffs, FL; 13 grandchildren
and two great grandchildren. Services were held at St. Paul Methodist
Church in Largo, FL where Mrs. Olshewsky was a member. The National Cremation
Society was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Verne Orchard was born August 17, 1913 at
Eminence, Mo. to Arthur E. and Mattie Orchard. He departed this life at
his home in Eminence, Mo., May 26, 1984 at the age of 70 years, nine months and
nine days. Although attending several country schools, he received the major
part of his education at Eminence, graduating from high school in 1933. He was
united in marriage to Dana Elizabeth Bales on June 25, 1937 at Bald Knob on
Jacks Fork River. To this union two children were born; Noel Verne Orchard
of Eminence, Mo., and Janis Alene Happy of Mountain View, Mo. He is survived by
his loving wife, Dana Elizabeth (Peggy) of the home, and his two children.
Also left to mourn his passing are his mother, Mattie Orchard and one brother,
Noel Clinton of Eminence; two sisters, Lura Orr of Eminence and Wilda
Wadlow of West Plains, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Ingrid Orchard; one
sister-in-law, Bonnie Jane Adams of Nixa, Mo.; one son-in-law, Austin Happy;
three brothers-in-law, Hal Orr, Bernis Wadlow and Paul Adams; five
grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded
in death by his father. During World War II, Verne answered the call to serve
his country, entering the service April 26, 1944, and was honorably discharged
January 19, 1946. He received service stars for the Southern Philippines,
Luzon and New Guinea campaigns. He also received the Good Conduct medal
and Meritorious Service plaque. For many years, Verne was employed by Bales
Mercantile & Boating Company. He later worked as a carpenter and an
electrician. For some time, he also worked with his son doing construction
work. For several years prior to retirement, he was employed by the City
of Eminence. Verne accepted Christ at the age of 15, joining the First Baptist
Church of Eminence. Brother J.H.C. Sconce baptized him on September 18,
1928, and Verne was true to this faith but had a wonderful renewing of the joy
of his salvation during his illness, and witnessed his love, trust and faith in
his Savior time after time. Gardening was a favorite pastime of Verne's, but
hunting or just walking in God's woods and by His rivers brought him the most
satisfaction. Verne was a devoted family man who loved quietly, but strongly.
He also valued friendships and was loyal to his commitments. Not only did
Verne love his family and friends, he love his country. Verne's walk on earth is
over and he completed it with God's promise that He would go with him all the
way. Services were conducted on May 29 in the Duncan Funeral Chapel with Bro.
Raymond Sconce giving the funeral sermon, assisted by Bro. Bob Schneider. Bro.
Rodney Brown and his wife, Freida, organist, sang two beautiful songs:
"It Is No Secret" and "Beyond The Sunset". Bro. Sconce
gave a cheerful outlook for every Christian who has victory over sin,
victory over disappointment, victory over pain, and complete satisfaction in
Heaven. Bro. Bob read from a New Testament owned by Verne's grandfather, Nelson
T. Smith, who was a Baptist minister. Grandpa Smith carried this Book in
his saddlebags and preached from it until he passed away August 26, 1916.
A favorite passage was found in II Timothy, Chapter IV, verses 6-8. Interment
was in the New Eminence Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral
Services.

CHARLES
LEONARD 'JUDGE' ORCHARD - Son of Charles and
Frances (Orchard) Orchard arrived in this world December 19, 1915 on his
father's birthday. He had two hairs that stood straight up and his Uncle
"Tot" promptly gave him the nickname that has stuck with him for a
lifetime - "Judge". Uncle Tot said that he looked just like one
of our County judges, Judge Pyrtle, who was probably almost bald. He attended
all of his schooling in the Eminence school, graduated in 1934. He played
baseball and basketball, especially loved the basketball. He was always
hot tempered on the baseball field - Bill Nicholson, who played on the Birch
Tree team will verify that Judge always got mad and threw his bat. During the
first two years after graduating, he worked for George and Clara Selch, who had
a restaurant and liquor store; and for Bales Mercantile Co. owned by Walter
Bales. On March 19, 1936 he married Marjory, the daughter of Walter and
Floriece (Going) Bales. Judge and Marjory had three children: Mary Frances
Craig who lives in Valley Park, MO., Leonard Leroy and Jane Anne Smith, who both
live in Eminence. During the six years following Mary's birth, Judge did a
variety of jobs (whatever he could get to do during those depression
years). This included two winters near Dove Creek, Colo. During the
second trip, he helped to open a couple of uranium mines. The family lived
in two tents with snow falling almost every day on the top of the mountain -
quite an experience. In 1942, Judge finally landed a good job at Commonwealth
Steel in Granite City, IL. Later he worked in St. Louis for McQuay Norris,
making bullets. Leroy arrived Feb. 10, 1943 - the same year that Mary started to
school at the Shaw School in St. Louis. Judge and Marjory both worked in
defense plants for more than a year. Judge then went to Pasco, Washington
to work for DuPont in the bomb plant there. He came back home in 1944 and
was drafted in November of that year - the day he was leaving, Williams Store
burned. In March 1945, he was sent to the Philippines and served there
until the war was over. Jane was born July 9, 1945, so her Dad did not get to
see her until he arrived back home in January 1946. He had suffered with Malaria
most of the time that he was overseas and it was years before he was completely
free from it. Judge went into the store business with his brother-in-law, Bob
Carr and his father-in-law, Walter Bales. Judge and Marjory and Bob and
Kathryn ran the store until they sold in 1975. During Judge's early years
in business he was very active in community affairs. Helped to raise money
to build the VFW Hall and served as the Commander. He was active in the
Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, served on the School Board in a very crucial
time and due to the friendship of Willard Levy and Walter Bales, the factory
board on which Judge was serving, was influenced to bring the factory to
Eminence. This was the one thing that has helped our economy more than
anything else through the years. Judge drove about 5 years for United Van Lines,
leaving Bob, Kathryn and Marjory to run the store. This was an experience
that he enjoyed but not one that he cared to repeat. Judge and Marjory are
proud that their son chose to buy the store and live and raise his family
here. Leroy was the fourth generation to operate a store in
Eminence. Bales Mercantile was started by Leroy's Great-Grandfather, David
L. Bales, about 1900. Judge's favorite past time after retirement were spending
time with his grandchildren, playing cards with his buddies, watching baseball
on T.V., driving his car and helping out at the trail ride. He and Marjory
also spent several years traveling all over the United States collecting data
and writing the Chilton Family history. Judge passed away Wednesday, November
13, 1996 at St. Francis Hospital in Mountain. View, Missouri. His death was due
to injuries received in a car accident the same day. He was 80 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances Elsie (Orchard)
Orchard, his brothers Francis Marion, James Woodrow, William Lynn, and Shannon
Leroy, and a granddaughter, Sarah Jane Smith. He is survived by his wife,
Marjory, three children and their spouses, Frank and Mary Frances (Orchard)
Craig, Leonard Leroy and Susan (Taylor) Orchard, and James D. and Jane Anne
(Orchard) Smith, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. Services
were held at Duncan Funeral Home, Eminence, Missouri, Monday, November 18, 1996
at 1:00 pm. Burial followed at the Chilton Cemetery, Eminence,
Missouri.

Elizabeth Bales was born November 1,
1919 at Flip, Missouri on Rocky near Eminence, and died May 20, 1998 at the age
of 78 years, six months and 20 days. Peggy's education started in Fullerton,
California where her parents, Powell and Jessie (Hudson) Bales lived for two
years. They had moved to California in 1923 after a year's residence in El
Dorado, Kansas, where Peggy was struck down by a car and suffered head and chest
injuries which troubled her the rest of her life. After two months of
Kindergarten, Peggy moved back to Missouri with her family and completed the
first grade and two months of the second grade. Then in 1926 there was a move to
Augusta, Kansas which was to remain her home for nine years. In 1935 the
family returned to Missouri where Peggy graduated from Eminence High School in
1937. On June 25, 1937 Peggy was married to Arthur Verne Orchard at Journey's
End on The Powell Spring Farm, or often called Sweet Place. There were two
children born to this union, Noel Verne of Eminence and Janis Alene Happy of
Birch Tree. Peggy expressed her belief in Jesus at the age of seven, but was not
baptized until September 1935, by Brother Jadwin in Jack's Fork, into the
Christian Church. She later joined the Baptist Church to unite her family,
but returned to the Christian Church where she served for several years. Peggy
had a great love for these two churches and the people belonging to them, but
she also felt a fellowship with all Christians and a concern for lost souls. One
of the heartaches of her life was the loss of her brother, Powell Hudson Bales
in 1935. She lost her mother in 1973, her father in 1974 and her beloved
husband May 26, 1984. Working for the "Current Wave" in the 1960's
while the Chilton's were owners was a highlight in Peggy's life. She leaves to
mourn her passing her two children; a daughter-in-law, Ingrid; five
grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; her sister, Bonnie Jane Adams and
her husband, Paul; a niece, Dana Bales and nephew, Dan Deatherage; and many other
relatives and friends dear to her. "O how blessed is the promise when our
spirit is set free: To be absent from the body means to live, O Lord, with Thee!
Graveside Memorial services were held at 10:00 am Friday, May 22, 1998 at the
New Eminence Cemetery with Rev. David Binkley officiating. Arrangements were
made by Duncan Funeral Home.

JAMES EDWIN ORCHARD - Of Ava, MO passed away at 7:35 pm
April 20, 1997 at Cox South at the age of 65 years, 28 days. He was born
March 22, 1932 in Eminence, MO to Glen S. and Hazel Naney Orchard. He was
married April 9, 1971 in St. Louis, MO to Nina Parks. To this union 4 sons
and 2 daughters were born: Steven Battles, Charles Battles, Michael
Orchard, James Orchard, Jr., Lisa Ryan and Vanessa Roberts. He is survived
by two brothers, William Orchard, and Richard Orchard. He was preceded in
death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. He was a member of Full Gospel Church of
Ava, and a retired construction worker. Visitation was Wednesday, April 23, with
services at Clinkingbeard Chapel of Ava, MO at 10:00 am. Graveside services were
held April 24, 1997 at 2:00 o'clock with burial in Pine Lawn Cemetery, Winona,
MO, Rev. Butch McCleary and Rev. Leroy Barks officiating.
Jesse Dale
Orchard, Sr. - Born October 20, 1939 in Teresita, MO the son of James
Otto and Sybil Juanita Cochran Orchard. He passed away on January 3, 2007 in
Springfield, MO at the age of 67 years. He was a dairy farmer for over 40 years
and was also a custodian at Liberty High School. Jesse attended Pleasant Grove
Church.
Jesse loved to go golfing and fishing and hanging out with his very good friends
Bob Acklin and Jim Daniels. He really enjoyed the time he spent with all of his
grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents. Jesse is survived
by the mother of his sons, Carol Orchard of Mountain View, MO; three sons, Dale
Orchard and Sheri of Mountain View, MO, Duane Orchard and wife Marie of
Springfield, MO and Doug Orchard and wife Sheila of Mountain View, MO; three
brothers, Kenneth Weaver and wife Faye of Granite City, IL, Jim Orchard and wife
Donna of West Plains, MO and Clark Orchard and wife Wanda of Mountain View, MO;
two sisters, Ella Margaret Orchard and Ruby Smith and husband Dennis all of
Mountain View, MO; grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron Orchard of Springfield, MO,
Meagan Fiedler and husband Aaron of Peace Valley, MO and Toby, Randa and Koel
Orchard all of Mountain View, MO; one great-grandson, Jesse James Fiedler of

NOEL CLINTON ORCHARD - Born Feb. 26, 1922 at
Summersville to Arthur Edgar 'Tot' Orchard & Mattie Mae Smith. He passed away
Jan. 28, 2007 at the age of 84. His parents, three siblings, Arthur Verne, Lura
Mae and Mary Wilda, two brothers-in-law, Bernis Wadlow & Hal Orr, one
sister-in-law, Peggy Orchard, and a great nephew, Michael Wadlow, passed away
before him. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, John A. Wadlow, Sr. and
wife Priscilla; Noel Verne Orchard and wife Ingrid; Jacquelyn S. Dixon and
husband Gene; Janis A. Happy and James D. Wadlow & wife Dollie, along with
several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Clinton graduated from
Eminence High School and Draughons Business College in Springfield. In 1942 he
enlisted in the Army Air Force and was an airplane mechanic with the 671 Bomber
Squadron. Clinton was in battles and campaigns including Air off Europe,
Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France in World War
II. He was awarded 6 Bronze Stars for these campaigns, a Good Conduct Medal and
a District Unit Badge. He also was entitled to wear the European African, Middle
Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and 3 Overseas Bars. Clinton was honorably
discharged on October 19, 1945 as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force. His working
years included 2 terms as the Shannon County Assessor. He owned and operated
Shannon County Abstract, which he and his father (Tot) started together. Prior
to his coming home to Eminence, Clinton worked in a factory as a foreman in St
Louis MO. Clinton was saved and baptized at a young age and was of the Baptist
faith. He had a great love of the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed being with his
buddies, brother Verne, and nephew Noel Verne, and a great nephew, Rich Orchard,
at his hunting cabin. He also was so glad to be with all of his family for any
kind of gathering. Clinton loved his family very much and that love was mutual.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at 10 am at the Duncan
Funeral Chapel at Eminence with Alan Stringer officiating. Interment was in New
Eminence Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence MO.
PAUL DAVID ORCHARD - Age 49, of Arago, Oregon, was born May
12, 1945 at Eminence, MO and passed away Nov. 17, 1994 at Coos Bay, OR.
Cause of death was lung cancer. Funeral service was at 2:00 pm Monday,
Nov. 21, 1994 in Amling/Schroeder Myrtle Point Chapel with Pastor Jim Foster of
the Arago Community church officating. Burial was in Myrtle Crest Memorial
Gardens, with Military honors. David, was a resident of both Coos County, OR and
Shannon County, Mo. most of his life. He entered Officer's Training School
with the US Army in 1966. While training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina he met
Angela Sharon Hilton and upon his return from Vietnam they were married in the
family home at Arago, OR January 18, 1969. David served with the Special
Forces/Green Berets in Vietnam and was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant Dec. 5,
1968. He was a member of the American Legion and the Southwestern Oregon Hound
Association and he enjoyed hunting and fishing with the "boys".
Survivors are: his wife, Sharon, Arago, OR; daughters Angie Orchard, Madres,
OR.; Paula Orchard and Samantha Orchard, Arago, OR; brothers James Orchard, Ava,
MO; Richard Orchard, Juneau, Alaska; William Orchard, Longview, TX; Gary
Orchard, Coquille, OR; brother-in-law L.G. Sanders, Fairview, OR.; several
nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents
Glen and Hazel Orchard, a brother Gene, and a sister Glenna. Memorial
contributions to Coos County Veterans c/o Fran Capehart, Nursing Home Fund.
Vera Lucille Cochran Orchard - Born April 5, 1913, in Shannon County MO, to
Otis and Leolah Johnson Cochran. She passed away on April 29, 2009, at the age
of 96 years. Lucille was married to Winston 'Wink' Orchard in December of 1932.
She is survived by two sons, Earl Marshall Chowning and wife, Doreene, of Birch
Tree MO, and Jack Orchard and wife, Desiree, of Rowlett TX; son-in-law, Gerry
Brown of Mountain View MO; 10 grandchildren, Terry Orchard, Jerry Orchard,
Marsha Cafourek, Debbie McClendon, Laura Bear, Marshall Chowning, Mike Chowning,
Donna Whiteside, Robert Orchard and Stephanie Roach; 17 great-grandchildren and
17 great-great-grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; her daughter, Vivian Brown; and her brother, Earl Cochran. She was a
member of the First Assembly of God and loved going to church with her lifetime
friend, Margaret. In her earlier years, she was a mail carrier, and in 1956, she
and Wink bought the Teresita General Store and operated it for approximately 25
years. In the store, they made many friends throughout the community. Lucille
loved making quilts and sewing. She also enjoyed ceramics and other crafts. She
will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. Funeral services were
held Saturday, May 2, 2009, in Yarber Chapel with Rev. Ross Marshall
officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Teresita MO, under the
direction of Yarber Mortuary of Mountain View.

'Marjory' Bales was born October 12, 1917 in
Eminence, Missouri to Walter F. and Floriece Going Bales. She was the eldest
of four daughters. Marjory attended school at Eminence and graduated as one
of the top students in her class in 1936. She very proudly remembered to her
grandchildren earning a medal for academic achievement. At a young age, she
began keeping books for her father at Bales Boating Company. She had a mind
for numbers and her books always came out to the penny. She was married to Charles Leonard 'Judge' Orchard at her
home in Eminence on March 19, 1936. To this union, three children were born;
Mary Frances, Leonard Leroy, and Jane Anne. The six years following Mary’s
birth were difficult times for this young family. There was no work due to
the Depression, which forced them to spend two winters living in tents near
Dove Creek, Colorado where Judge found work. During World War II, she worked
on an assembly line at a factory in St. Louis before returning home to be
with her family. Most of her adult life was spent in Eminence. She and Judge
bought Bales AG Grocery from her parents in 1950. They worked in the store
until 1996, when the business was sold to her son, Leroy. Marjory continued
to work for Leroy several years after he purchased the business. She also
worked for her daughter, Jane, at Cross Country Trail Ride beginning in
1980. It was her job to make sure that each guest was paid as they went
through the chow line. Many guests fondly remember her from their years of
visiting with her as they waited in line. She helped Jane in this capacity
until 2003 when her health began to deteriorate and would no longer allow
her to. She and Judge also spent many years traveling as they researched
their family histories. They authored the now famous two volume set entitled
Chilton Family History. Marjory has also done much research into the
Orchard, Bales, Norton and Whitworth families, although she never had any of
this information published. She was a very hard-working person and never had
idle time. She very much enjoyed yard work and gardening, needlepoint, and
her most loved time was spent with her grandchildren of whom she was
extraordinarily proud and who will fondly remember her as 'Great Mom'. Her religious beliefs were based on the teaching of the
United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of the Eminence United
Methodist Church from her childhood and raised her family there as well. She
served on the board of directors, taught Sunday school and helped with
Vacation Bible School. For many years, she was the church’s
secretary/treasurer and recorder. She always made notes in her Sunday
bulletins regarding the attendance in church that week, the sermon, and any
baptisms or christenings that may have taken place. Her church family will
miss her deeply. Marjory very peacefully left this world behind on
Tuesday, October 10, 2007 at 6:15 a.m. after a brief stay at Ozarks Medical
Center in West Plains, Missouri. At the time of her death, she was 89 years
old, just two days short of her birthday. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Judge; her daughter, Mary Frances; her parents, Walter and Floriece
Bales; and one granddaughter, Sarah Jane Smith. She is survived by a son,
Leonard Leroy and his wife, Susan Taylor Orchard of Eminence; a daughter,
Jane Anne and her husband, James David Smith of Eminence; a son-in-law,
Franklin James Craig of Valley Park, Missouri; three sisters, Kathryn Bales
Carr and Shannon Bales Reary of Eminence and Elizabeth Bales Faulkenberry of
Eureka, Missouri; an uncle, James Houston and his wife, Gloria, of Aliso
Viejo, California; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3
great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and an untold
numbers of friends. She lived a long, fulfilling life and has left behind
many ways by which she will be remembered. She considered her family to be
her most treasured gift as they did her. Services were held Monday, October 15, 2007 and her
interment was in the Chilton Cemetery north of Eminence with Duncan Funeral
Home officiating.

Lucille Ann Wilkerson was born Sept 3, 1935 at Livingston Park Co MT, the
daughter of Glenn and Lessie Wilkerson. Lucille left us to be with her Savior,
On Aug. 25, 1984 at the Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Mo. Lucille
was 48 years, 11 months, and 22 Days old when she went to sing with the angels.
Lucille was preceded in death by her Father, Glenn Rome of Livingston, Montana
and her sister Jean Roberts of Seattle, Wash. Lucille is survived by her mother
and Step, father, Lessie and Alvin Rome of Livingston, Montana. Six wonderful
children, Shelia Ann Faulkner of Birch Tree, Mo., John Harve Jr., of Alaska,
Silas Elexious Counts, Steven James Counts, Alan Curtis Counts all of
Livingston, Montana, and Diann Lee Faulkner of Clarksville, Tenn. Lucille is
survived by 11 grandchildren and A host of family and friends. The Rev. Fred
Pulliam officiated grave side services on Thursday Aug. 30, 1984 at 3 o’clock in
the afternoon at the Berea-Mennonite Cemetery located north of Birch Tree, Mo.
Pallbearers were Robert Faulkner, Charles A. Faulkner, Edward R. Faulkner, and
Richard D. Arrangements were under Duncan Funeral Home, Birch Tree, Mo.

Margie Louise Ledgerwood
Osborne was born October 23, 1952 at Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of
Clyde Irvin Ledgerwood and Frances Bay Ledgerwood. She passed away November 19,
2014 at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, MO at the age of 62
years and 27 days. She married Joseph Harris in 1969 at Peoria, IL and
to this union two children were born. She later married Freddie Osborn
in 1987 at Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by her father Clyde;
husband Freddie; and one niece Michelle Dawne. Margie is survived by two
daughters Dianna Hogan and husband Bryan of Willow Springs, MO and Sandy
Backus and husband Jim of Peoria, IL; her mother Frances Ledgerwood and
husband Earl of Winona, MO; one brother Danny Dunn and wife Vesta of
Willow Springs, MO; two sisters Kathie Cox of Summersville, MO and Donna
Schweighauser and husband Denver of Walnut Ridge, AR; 5 grandchildren
Bryan David Hogan and wife Ashley of Willow Springs, MO, Chasity Covello

in her life at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Birch Tree. There she
developed friendships with members of her church family that have lasted
the entirety of her life. She loved celebrating her salvation. The
strength she drew on from her faith carried her through the many
hardships of her life. Her commitment to family was evident in
everything she did. Margie found delight in every newborn child and
cared for her nephews and nieces as if they were her own. She was the
first to volunteer a giving hand to every person she knew, with never a
thought of herself. Margie honored both her parents her whole life. With
a bone crushing hug, a kiss and an "I love you" with every meeting and
parting she never grew out of the habit of reminding everyone of the
abundance of love that she had for them. She will be always remembered
for her honest heart, her loving smile, and her unquestionable faith.
Our sorrow will follow us until we are with you again. Every moment of
every day, we will celebrate your sweet spirit until we are with you
again. Every moment of every day, we are so thankful for having you in
our life. We love you.

Ivan Winston Osborne was born April 15, 1934 at Fremont, MO, the eldest son
of Thomas Winston and Beulah Ina (Weaver) Osborne. His earthly life came to
a peaceful end on the evening of July 30, 2012, at his home in the Rocky
Community. At the age of 4, he tagged along with his older sister,
Kay, to the little school on Roger’s Creek, where his grandma Weaver taught.
Later, he attended school at Fremont, where he graduated in 1951. He was
united in marriage to Shirley Norris on March 11, 1955, in St. Louis, MO.
Ivan and his father in law, Richard 'Cub' Norris, helped to build the Church
of Christ in Walden, CO. When it was completed, the pastor invited them to
attend the grand opening. It was here that they both met their Savior, and
were baptized. Ivan’s friendship with Jesus has been a long and lasting one.
They returned to the Ozarks, living in Fremont. When Shirley’s old home
place came up for sale in 1966, they bought it. Ivan built a home there, and
they moved to the Rocky community in 1970. He was a carpenter by trade, and
a farmer. He worked hard, but he always made time for fun! He loved
bluegrass music, and would often join them on the harmonica! He accomplished
many things in his life, but he was most proud of his family. He led by
example, and left some big footprints for us to follow! His faith in Christ
never wavered, and he shared the gospel of grace with many people. He was
quite a story teller, and was known to embellish a little from time to time.
He will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, mischievous grin,
and his twinkling blue eyes. He loved every one, regardless of their stature
in life, and he was much loved in return. We, his family, are so thankful to
all of you for your friendship and kindness to this man that we loved so
much! Ivan was reunited with his parents, and sisters Kay Donley Burns
and JoAnne Billingsley. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, and their
children: Michelle & Sherman Shedd, Craig and Millie (Hunt) Osborne, Kathy &
Gary Banks, Timothy and LaReva (Tweet) Osborne, Darren and Daleah (Pyrtle)
Osborne, Brent and Tammy (Salisbury) Osborne, 19 grandchildren, 28 great
grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, his stepfather, Jacob Muscha (and
wife, Nancy), his brother, Jay (and wife, Alta), brother in law, Harry
Billlingsley, and many nieces and nephews that were very special to him.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at the
Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO. Funeral services will be held Friday,
August 3, 2012 at 10:00am at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO with
Jack Honeycutt officiating. Interment will be in Horner Cemetery in Winona,
MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes.

Margie Louise Osborne was born October 23, 1952 at Peoria, IL the
