I am searching for my PRICE ancestors who sent from Pulaski Co., KY to Polk Co., Mo. about 1840. I know that one of them, Reece Price, was in Polk Co. and I would like to find out which others also were there. I am particulary interested in finding James, who may have been a brother to Reece, and James' son, Henry H. PRICE (1830-1913). Henry returned to Ky in the early 1850s and died there. Thank you if you can help.

ADAMS, HANCOCK, RUYLE posted by Kay Gunn on Friday, June 19, 1998

Am seeking information on Frances (ADAMS) HANCOCK, particularly her whereabouts in 1850-1853-1858 in Missouri. Frances was the wife of Lewis HANCOCK of Cannon Co., TN, but entered divorce plea to the Chancery Court in Cannon Co.,TN, and by family manuscript, left TN in 1853 (poss. earlier?) for Missouri with several of her children. The departure date from TN is not secured, so she may have been in MO as early as 1850. Frances's son, Benjamin Timothy Hancock (b. 1814) m. Elizabeth RUYLE, 1834, in Greene Co., MO. Also, Frances's son, John Hancock, b. 1821 d. in MO, and her son Bluford Jordan Hancock, b. 1833, m. Olivia Adamson, 1855 in Springfield (Greene Co.), MO. I am drawn to Polk Co., Mo by the fact that the only members of a RUYLE family shown on the 1850 U.S. Census Index for MO, were in Polk Co. (drawn from Greene Co., 1835): Elizabeth RUYLE, Peter RUYLE, Phebe A. RUYLE. My interest in these families lies in the fact that Matilda (b. 1817, or 1811), dau/o Frances & Lewis Hancock, m. Zachariah Thomason, brother of my antecedant, Lavinia Arline (Thomason) Gunter (gravestone: b. 1795, d. 1849). Two of Lavinia's brothers, Zachariah who m. Matilda Hancock & John French Thomason m. Mary Elizabeth Hammock, were living in DeKalb Co., AL, and on the 1840 and 1860 Censuses these men had older women in their homes we are trying to identify and establish their dates of birth. For this search, we badly need the 1850 Census reading for Frances (Adams) Hancock who more than likely was living with kinsmen in Missouri. Frances was not in DeKalb Co., AL 1850 Census, and not in Cannon Co., TN on the 1850 Census with Lewis Hancock (64 VA) and their son, Bleuford Jordan Hancock (16 TN). Frances Hancock was alive in 1858 when she removed to Springfield P.O., Limestone Co., TX where in 1860 her daughter, Matilda (Hancock) Thomason was living in Frances's home. If you know anything about these people that would help our search, I'd be most grateful to hear from you.

CREED, EASTON, FARMER, FARRAR, LAWRENCE, MOORE, WILLIAMS posted by Clint Moore on Thursday, July 16, 1998

Looking for information on the Ewell & Nancy CREED MOORE Family, and the Gallahue & Rhoda LAWRENCE Moore Family. Both were two of the eight children of Rodeham (1744-1811) & Elizabeth Gallahue Moore (1752-1825) of Henry/Patrick Co., Va .& Surry Co., N.C.. that migrated to Polk Co. around 1835-40. Two other children of Rodeham & Elizabeth migrated to Tri-County MO area as well - son John Moore and daughter Sallie Moore WILLIAMS. Many Moore families in area descend from John & Sallie. Ewell Moore was born in Henry-Patrick Co. VA. in 1791, married Nancy CREED in 1812, and moved to Hawkins Co. TN by the 1830 census. In 1840 census, he and wife are in Polk Co. MO. with 6 female and 3 male children. Only child names known to us are Eliza (b. 1815?) and Matilda (b. 1820?), probably all born in Hawkins Co. Tennessee. These two daughters married William & Abner Nall (brothers). No descendants, cemetery, or other info. known to us. Gallahue MOORE was born in Henry-Patrick Co. Va. in 1787, married Rhoda LAWRENCE in 1816, and moved to Hawkins Co., TN by the 1830 census. In 1840 & 1850 census, he and wife are in Polk and then Dade Co. MO. with 3 female and 5 male children. Children names in birth order are: Juliana-1817, Samuel P.-1819 (m. Susan FARRAR), William C.-1821 (m. Harriet ?), Benjamin F.-1823, Elizabeth G.-1826 (m. Wash. FARMER), Stokely H.-1828, Hugh G.-1829, and Sarah-1832 (m. ? EASTON). Gallahue MOORE bought land in Dade Co. from 1845-54, where his will was also filed in 1854. He received first land grants in T33, R25 - 1845, now Dade Co.. No descendants, cemetery, or other info. known to us. If anyone reading this message knows of these two families and their descendants, please contact me at clint_moore@anadarko.com and dcmoore2@prodigy.net. I am President of the 200+ member Rodeham & Elizabeth Moore Descendants Association, and we would like to know more about, and make contact with descendants of,these two sons of Rodeham & Elizabeth. Many descendants of two other Rodeham children, John Moore and Sarah Moore Williams, live in this Tri-County Area, but very little is known of the Ewell & Gallahue Moore lineage. Thank you! Clint
