Reed, Elliott "Elli" -

After her 20 day fight against Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, Elli earned her angel wings in the early morning hours of Monday September 9, 2008. Her strength and fight amazed all those who followed her difficult journey and she has been an inspiration to her family and friends.

Elli is survived by her parents, Brian Emmett and Cassi Erin Reed. Paternal grandparents, David and Shirley Reed. Maternal grandparents, Aaron and Teri Vorthmann. Paternal great-grandparents, Emmett and Phebe Reed and Dale and Darlene Florea. Maternal great-grandparents Dorsey and Patty Pope. Aunts and uncles include: Charles and Heather Linhart, Nathan Reed, Corey and Annie Vorthmann and Staci Vorthmann. Elli is also survived by many extended family members and countless friends.
Elli is proceeded in death by maternal great-grandparents Alfred and Bonny Vorthmann and paternal great-great-aunt and uncle Doyle and Arcile Payton. We are certain that they were all there welcoming Elli into their arms as she joined them in heaven.

We will be celebrating the life and journey of Elli with a visitation which will be held at Price Funeral Home in Maryville Mo on Friday September 12, 2008 from 6-8 pm. Elli will be laid to rest at a graveside service to be held in Treynor Ia at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made in Memorial of Elli or to The Ronald McDonald House in memory of Elli.

Reed, Emmett Francis - Funeral services for Reverend Emmett F. Reed, age 88, Burlington Junction, Missouri, who entered into peace Friday, March 26, 2010 at Bryan East LGH Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Church, Burlington Junction, Missouri with Reverend Larry Brown officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 29 at the Christian Church. Burial with military rites will be in the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, Missouri.

Emmett Francis Reed was born July 9, 1921 to William Jennings Reed and Mabel (Lowe) Reed at the family farm near Quitman, Missouri. He grew up in the Clearmont, Missouri area and attended country school near Clearmont. Emmett was a member of the National Guard and proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, receiving the Bronze Star. He was united in marriage to Phebe M. Shadduck on September 27, 1945 at the Methodist Parsonage, Albany, Missouri.

Following his release from the service, Emmett farmed for twenty five years. Emmett began operating a bulldozer with Harlan Reed, Bill Reed and Vernon Reed in 1960. Reed Brothers Construction was formed in 1963 with Bill and Vernon. Emmett retired in 1983 and returned to work in 1985 and continued to run the dozer until his death.

Reverend Emmett Reed was in the ministry for fifty four years. He started his lay ministry at KNIM Radio Station of Maryville. Emmett served surrounding area churches until the present day. He served Bethany Christian Church of Barnard, Missouri for twenty four years.

Emmett enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He loved his Lord and his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They knew him as “Big Papa”. He loved to eat orange slices, loved to joke and tease his family members.

Emmett was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vernon Reed; one daughter, Martha Ann Reed; one great granddaughter, Elliott Arcile Reed.

Survivors include his wife Phebe of Burlington Junction, Missouri; children, Linda “Sue” Reed Brown and husband Larry of Columbia, Missouri, David Reed and wife Shirley of Burlington Junction, Missouri, Carol Sanders and husband Steve of Maitland, Missouri, Joan Haaga and husband Jack of Douglass, Kansas , grandchildren, Heather and Charles Linhart of Leon, Iowa, Brian and Cassi Reed of Henderson, Iowa, Nathan Reed of Maryville, Missouri, Craig and Andrea Proctor of Rockport, Missouri, Jeremy and Cashie Proctor of Savannah, Missouri, Steven Proctor of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeremy and Dawn Brown of Columbia, Missouri, Angie Rush and Doug Mesko of Columbia, Missouri, Emily Haaga of El Dorado, Kansas, Sabrina Sanders, Kansas City, Missouri; eleven great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ferman and Betty Reed of Maryville, Missouri, Bill and Josephine Reed of Clearmont, Missouri, Kathryn and Ralph Benson of Ft. Reidlinger, Julia Patricia Malone -

Julia Patricia Reidlinger, 86, died Friday, January 25, 2008, at home in Darlington, Missouri.

She was born March 7, 1921, in Glenburn, North Dakota to John and Catherine (Allen) Malone.

She married William C. Reidlinger on December 31, 1945, in Glenburn, North Dakota.

Julia was a retired nurse, homemaker, and member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanberry, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Reidlinger (September 13, 1994), brothers: Lawrence, Robert, and John Malone, sisters: Catherine Kelly, Rita Elm, Dorothy Schieber, Mildred Pedersen, and son-in-law James Nap.

She is survived by: three sons: Steven Reidlinger, Darlington, Missouri, Edward Reidlinger, Allen, Texas, William Reidlinger, Jr, Kansas City, Missouri, two daughters: Mary Nap, Lake Lotawana, Missouri and Arlene Stiles, Federal Way, Washington, Six Grandchildren, Eleven Great-Grandchidren and brother, Leonard Malone, Maryville, Missouri.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanberry, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 29th at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, Missouri, with a Parish Rosary at 7:00p.m.

Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery Conception, Missouri.

Reiff, Nancy Jean Beason -

Nancy Jean Reiff, 70, Maryville, Missouri died on Monday, June 8, 2009, at her home.

Born April 26, 1939 in Hopkins, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Bessie Garner Beason.

She was a graduate of Technical High School in Omaha, Nebraska and was a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Anita Carr, Maryville and Joyce Stone, Atlantic, Iowa, brother, Eddie Beason, Perrysburg, Ohio, sisters, Norma Carr, Papillion, Nebraska, Neva Tadlock, Council Bluffs, Iowa and Carol Sockrider, Gravity, Iowa and five grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents and son, Dennis Reiff.

Visitation will be held from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 10th at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11th, also at Price Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in Workman Chapel Cemetery, Burlington Junction, Missouri..

 

Renfro, Betty Lou Jones -

Betty Lou Renfro, 78, Maryville, Missouri died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville.

She was born November 3, 1931 in Quitman, Missouri, the daughter of Chester and Ada Lee (Harris) Jones. Betty married Joseph Stillman Renfro June 11, 1949 in Skidmore, Missouri.

Betty was a homemaker, she had managed King’s Café for 15 years and worked as a dietician at Maryville Health Care Center, Maryville.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Renfro (February 11, 2007); her parents and sister: Opal Childers.

She is survived by her sons: Mark (Kelley) Renfro, Maryville; Chet (Cindy) Renfro, Pickering, Missouri; four grandchildren: Jared (Stacy), Janae, Bradley (Jody), and Molly Renfro; two great-grandchildren: Ellaina and Olivia Renfro and a brother: Paul Jones, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Visitation is 6-7 pm Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri Graveside Services are 10 am Thursday April 8, 2010, in Quitman Cemetery, Quitman, Missouri.

Rhoades, Ronald Gene -

Ronald Gene Rhoades, 64 of Maryville, Missouri died on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Born October 20, 1944 in Bigelow, Missouri, he was the son of Everett and Kathleen (McKenzie) Rhoades. He was a 1962 graduate of the Mound City High School, Mound City, Missouri and a 1967 graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a degree in Farm Management.

Ron married his wife of forty years, Della Jane Scarbrough, on November 24, 1968 in Fortescue, Missouri.

A farmer and construction inspector, Ron retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation in December of 2008.

He was a member of the Fortescue Methodist Church, a Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association and member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. Ron shot more than 10,000 registered targets during the year he battled cancer.

Surviving are his parents Jack and Kathleen Rhoades, Craig, Missouri, wife, Della of the home; daughters, Stephanie Dolan and her husband Tim, Ashland, Nebraska and Rebecca (Becki) Rhoades, Topeka, Kansas and granddaughter Katie Dolan.

Ron loved his four girls, farming, trapshooting and enjoying life. No one loved a good story more than Ron.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Monday, March 30 at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, also at Price Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City with military services provided by the Story-Hardin American Legion Post #164, Craig, Missouri.

Riley, Malachy Thomas, Father - Fr Malachy Thomas Riley, O S B, 93, of Conception Abbey, Conception, Missouri died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at St Stephen's Infirmary, Conception.

He was born October 5, 1914 in St Louis, Missouri, the son of Edward and Ellen (Bradley) Riley.

Fr Malachy joined the Benedictine Monastery, Conception in 1937 and was ordained a priest on September 19, 1942.

Among his many assignments he served as pastor of the following parishes: Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri (1950-59); St Aloysius, Kansas City, Missouri (1959-63);
St Columba, Conception Junction, Missouri (1964-70) and St Columban, Chillicothe, Missouri (1981-87); He also served as Business Manager of Conception Abbey from 1976-81.

Fr Malachy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Edward Riley.

He is survived by his Monastic Community; a brother, Dr John J Riley, Maryland Heights, Missouri; two sisters: Mrs Mary Catherine Dwyer, St Louis, Missouri and Mrs. Patricia Anne Mehegan, St Charles, Missouri; numerous beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

Visitation is 6pm Thursday, March 27, at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri with Vespers of the Dead at 7:15pm.

Alysia Leeann Roberts 20, Hopkins, Missouri died, August 19, 2009 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

She was born July 31, 1989 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Calvin Lee and Vetra Ann (Hager) Roberts. Alysia was a 2008 graduate of North Nodaway High School in Hopkins. She was working in the bakery at Casey’s North in Maryville, Missouri.

She was a member of the Hopkins Baptist Church, Hopkins, Missouri.

Alysia was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother: Eileen Roberts; maternal great-grandparents: Eva Dulin Swaney; Harley Dulin; Roy Swaney; Virgil Hager and Cora McFarland; paternal great-grandparents: Silas and Millie Roberts and an uncle Steve Leach.

Dorothy Mae Roberts, 98, Maryville, Missouri, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

She was born September 27, 1909, in Barnard, Missouri to Fredrick and Bessie (Wells) Newcomer.

Dorothy married Clyde Roberts on July 16, 1934, in Independence, Missouri.

A homemaker, Dorothy worked from 1964-1974 in food service at Northwest Missouri State University. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Levis and Laces Square Dance Club in Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde Roberts (November 27, 1999) and sisters Elsie Allen, Ruby Thompson, and Susie Merideth and an infant brother and infant sister.

She is survived by her daughter LaVonne Hull, Maryville, two sons Keith Roberts, Gering, Nebraska and Kirby Roberts, Windsor, Colorado, five grandchildren Steven Hull, Maryville, Sheila Nagle, Ames, Iowa, Beth Trahan, Fort Collins, Colorado, Cole Roberts, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Mitchell Roberts, Fort Lewis, Washington, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and sister Belvadine King, Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Donald Lee Robertson, 79, Maryville, Missouri, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Village Care Center, Maryville.

He was born July 14, 1928 in King City, Missouri, the son of Horace and Agnes (Culp) Robertson. Don was a graduate of the Pattonsburg, Missouri High School. He received a BS in Elementary Education from NWMSU, Maryville, his masters from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri and additional education at Colorado State University, Greeley, Colorado.
He married Phyllis Gardner on August 27, 1950 in McFall, Missouri.

An educator, Don was an instructor at Northwest Missouri State University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chairman of the “Tree Planting Committee” of Maryville; a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 75 and he served in the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Edsel Robertson.

Survivors include his wife: Phyllis, of their home; children and their spouses: Danny and Debra Robertson, Clarinda, Iowa; Regina Robertson and Paul Wagner, Charlotte, North Carolina; Kim and Dale Chenoweth, Savannah, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; a brother: Larry Robertson, Kidder, Missouri and sisters: Rose Anna Williams, Liberty, Missouri and Patsy Stonebreaker, Lincoln, Nebraska;

Angelo Richard Rodriguez, 62, Burlington Junction, Missouri died Wednesday, October1, 2008, at Citizens Memorial Nursing Home, Bolivar, Missouri.

He was born January 27, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Patrick Charles and Clara Rodriguez.

Angelo was a US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He married Diana Louise Meggers on
February 14, 1970 in Buffalo, Missouri.

He had been a custodian at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri twelve years.

A member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community in Maryville, Angelo also belonged to the O'Howell-Strader American Legion Post #102, Barnard, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Diana Rodriguez (August 31, 2000); his parents; a brother: Joseph Rodriguez and sister. Alice Pinto.

Survivors include his son: Michael Rodriguez, San Diego, California; daughters and sons-in-law: Denise and Kris Huchteman Bolivar, Missouri and Andrea and Daniel McElroy, Camden Point, Missouri; six grandchildren: Brianna, Ian, Drayton, Matthew, Brett and Kayden; a brother: Patrick Rodriguez, Chicago; sisters: Mary Kray and Joyce Rodriguez, both of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ross, Byron R. - Byron R. Ross, 81 of Iowa City, Iowa, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at his home following a brief illness.
Byron was born September 12, 1928, near Quitman, Mo., the son of Oppie H. and Lois F. (Nicholas) Ross. He graduated from Braddyville, Iowa, High School in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving three years with engineers stationed in Japan, China, and Guam, Manus Island, Guadalcanal and Okinawa. Following this he enrolled and later graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, Mo. He attended graduate school at the University of Iowa College of Business. It was here that he met Rosamond Joy Mills and the couple was married in 1954. A summer position with McGladrey, Hansen, Dunn & Company (now RSM McGladrey) turned into a 31 year career after passing his CPA exam. Retiring in 1984 from McGladrey, he reentered the University of Iowa Graduate program and until the year of 2000 was active in teaching with in the College of Business.
Byron prided himself with his independence, especially following the death of his wife, Rose, in 2004. He maintained living in his home with the assistance of the visiting nurses, his granddaughter Elizabeth Ross, and numerous friends from in town.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City, Iowa.
Left to cherish his memory are three sons, Dr. Kelly D. (Glenda) Ross, Scott A. (Roberta) Ross, and Mitchell W. (Gina) Ross. Also grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin (Stephanie) Ross, Elisabeth Ross, Rebecca Ross (Jonathon Thornton), Kaleb, Jacqueline, Adam, Marcus, and Michael Ross; brother Paul (Barbara) Ross of Clarinda, Iowa; sister-in-law Florence (Mrs. Wm. G. Ross); many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose; brother, William Ross; and sister, Beulah Ross.

Ida Kathleen (Katy) Rowlett, age, 81, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on May 19, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a short period of failing health.

Katy was born in Maryville, Missouri on June, 17, 1927.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Rowlett, a son, Ben Ingels, her parents, two brothers, one grandchild, one stepson and first husband, Sam Ingels.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Connor, Jane Pepper, and Sally Boyce all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sam Ingels, Dana Olson, and Jill Friesen, all of Denver, Colorado, Step-children, Rhonda Dick, St. Peters, Missouri, Jackie Stock, St. Joseph, Missouri and Kevin Rowlett, Skidmore, Missouri, 25 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville followed by a reception, there. A 4:30 pm burial service will be in Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, Missouri.

Burl Jones Ruch, 79, Albany, Missouri, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

He was born December 4, 1927, in Gentry, Missouri to Herschel and Lola (Jones) Ruch.

He married Mary Frances Jennings on September 13, 1958, in Gentry, Missouri.

Mr. Ruch was a construction worker and a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, John Leland, Kenneth, Herschel and Rex Ruch and 1 sister, Gladys Deen.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ruch, Albany, Missouri, sister, Uva Melbourn, Saint Joseph, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Gentry Christian Church, Gentry, Missouri.
There will be no formal visitation, however friends may call anytime at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Genevieve Olivia Russell, 85, Graham, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri.

Mrs. Russell was born on Feb. 8, 1922, in Guilford, Mo., the daughter of Dale and Mattie (Fanning) Goforth.

A 1940 graduate of Graham High School, Genevieve married Gordon Ellsworth Russell on June 1, 1941, in Maryville.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Progressive Club, both in Graham.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon of the home in Graham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenila and Kelly Martin, Cleveland, Tennesee and Marcia and David Leeper, Graham; four grandchildren, Shelley Betsinger, Shawn Leeper, Ben Tunell and Trevor Leeper; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Goforth, Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Vaughncille Johnson, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Shirley Boseck, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Graham, where her body will lie in repose from 10 to 11 a.m. There will be no formal visitation; however, friends may call anytime at the Price Funeral Home chapel, Maryville.
