Aldridge, Gerald Fritz -

Gerald F. Aldridge, 64, of Graham, MO, passed away December 25, 2019, at the Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville, MO.

Mr. Aldridge was born July 23, 1955 in Mannheim Germany. His parents were Gerald Aldridge and Martha Ida (Auer) Aldridge.

Gerald Aldridge worked as a self- employed electrician.

Mr. Aldridge has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO

 

Allee, Christopher Todd -

Christopher Todd Allee, 57, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.

Chris was born in Mt. Ayr, IA on September 27, 1962. His parents were Bud & Willa Allee of Sheridan, MO, both of whom preceded him in death. Chris attended Worth County R-III High School and was a graduate of the class of 1980. Chris was a member of the Army National Guard with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Sheridan Defiance Masonic Lodge and was a Master Mason.

In October 1994, he married LaRue Boyd Allee and celebrated 25 years of marriage in October of 2019. The two moved to Maryville in 1999. They had two children, Nicholas, who resides in Maryville, and Lindsey, who tragically passed away in June 2019.

Chris was employed by the Maryville School District as a Maintenance worker for 17 years. He loved his job on the “maintenance crew” as he called it. Chris considered them family, along with the rest of the Maryville R-II teachers and staff he would see every day as he worked in the buildings. He knew many students by name and often gave high fives or hugs to them in passing.

Chris enjoyed working on the family farm, even after moving to Maryville. The family farm in Sheridan holds many memories of farming, fishing and family fun. He and his brother Steve have continued the farming tradition for many years even after their parents where in the nursing home.

Chris had many hobbies and loved to build decks and remodel his house. He often drove his wife crazy by tearing apart things inside the house at unexpected times. He also had many funny sayings, and a great sense of humor which kept his family on their toes.

Chris is survived by his wife, LaRue, and son, Nick, both of Maryville, brother Steve Allee, Overland Park, KS, sister, Chandra (Sterling) Hopkins, of Sheridan, MO, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO.

Services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 starting at 2:00 PM at Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville, MO

 

Barrett, Richard M. -

Richard M. Barrett was born in Skidmore, Missouri on April 15, 1924. He was one of a set of twins of four children born to Floyd R. and Okalla (Suttle) Barrett. Richard graduated from Skidmore High School and entered the University of Missouri.

He then was drafted into the U.S. Army and served overseas during WW II. His service record included earning the Silver Star for action in France, Germany, and Austria, with specific action against Germany's Nordwind Campaign; the southern portion of the Battle of the Bulge-Belonging to 3rd Bn, 232 Infantry, 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division Action award; the Combat Infantry Badge; and for serving in major battles of Central Europe, Rhineland, Alsace, and Ardennes. He also was a part of liberating Dachau Concentration Camp, and one of his fondest memories was when a young Jewish man ran down the road to greet Richard with a hug and a “thank you.”

On November 22, 1950, he married Bernice J. Ohlensehlen in Corning, Missouri. They became the parents of five children. Richard and Bernice were married for 52 years before she passed away in 2003.

Richard completed his BS in Agriculture Education and his Master’s Degree in Education at the University of Missouri. He taught high school Vocational Agriculture at Craig, Tarkio, and Mound City, Missouri.

After retiring from teaching he was employed by USDA as Field Man, Holt County Farm Service Agency and Compliance Assistant, Northwest District Farm Service Agency. Richard served as Holt County Missouri Extension representative, Chair of Holt County Extension Council, a County Representative to Northwest Region of Missouri Extension Council, and Ag Chair of Northwest Missouri Extension Council.

He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westboro, Missouri, an active member of the Masonic Lodge, and a life member of the Paul P. Shutts American Legion Post 121.

Richard passed away on January 14, 2020, at a Nevada, Missouri care center.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice in 2003; their son, Richard “Rick” in 1998; brother, James; and sister, Elinor Gurnon.

Survivors include his children, Dianne (Larry) Furbeck, Rob (Susan) Barrett, Cathy (Bob) Summers, and Christie (Randy) Heldstab; daughter-in-law, Nancy Barrett; special, long-time family friend Kevin Livingston; grandchildren, David (Lee) Furbeck, Darren (Wendy) Furbeck, Lori Beth (Tyler) Myers, Travis Barrett, Dallas (Lacey) Barrett, Adam (Angela) Barrett, Seth (Jill) Barrett, Blake (Janna) Robertson, Greta Barrett, Lauren Summers, Meghan (Andrew) Cameron, Jaimie Heldstab, Sarah (Adam) Bettis, and Emily (Mike) Durig; great grandchildren, Cameron Furbeck, Christian Furbeck, Amanda (Corey) Stottlemyre, Claire Furbeck, Carson Myers, Colin Myers, Kainon Barrett, Drycen Barrett, Bronx Barrett, Matthew Barrett, Elizabeth Barrett, Tyne Robertson, Niya Robertson, Henry Cameron, Summer Cameron, Barrett Durig, and Everett Durig; one great-great grandchild, Ryan Stottlemyre; twin brother, Robert Barrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beason, Marjorie Dale Poppa -

Marjorie Dale Poppa-Beason, 85, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at her home in Maryville, with family at her side.

Marjorie was born on August 25, 1934 in Maryville, to Charles Lucas and Mable Esther (Gilbert) Riley.  They preceded her in death.

Marjorie was a Nurse’s Aid in Maryville.  She had worked at Nodaway Nursing Home, and the Younger Group Home.  She was a member of the Hope Fellowship Church, St. Joseph, MO.  She lived for her children and grandchildren.

On January 26, 1973, Marjorie was united in marriage to Clarence Beason.  He passed away on August 18, 2011.  She was also preceded by her brother, Charles Riley.

Her survivors include her children and step-children, Merel Junior Poppa, Kenneth Dale Poppa, Kirby Charles Poppa, Robert Poppa, Sheila Salyer, Linda Casey, Michael Poppa, and Sam Wermelskirchen; the Beason children, Kathy, Ivle, Ronnie, Bob, Randy, Lorie, Jeanie, Angie, and Sandy, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home Maryville.  The burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, also of Maryville

 

Calfee, Virginia Lee Hagey -

Virginia Lee Calfee, 94, of Maryville, MO passed away December 26, 2019 at the Oak Pointe retirement community in Maryville, MO.

Virginia was born on April 11, 1925, East of Elmo, MO. Her parents were John Virgil Hagey and Clella (Headrick) Hagey.

At the age of one she moved to a farm west of Burlington Junction, MO with family.

Virginia attended grade school at the Loraine Country School and graduated from Burlington Junction High School.

On October 27, 1944 she married Donald E. Calfee in Troy Kansas. They lived on a farm west of Burlington Junction and the Elmo area until 1957. They then moved to the East coast, where her husband worked for the U. S. Coast & Geodetic Survey. In March of 1962 they move to Las Vegas, NV where Donald was employed at Mercury Nevada for the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey. While there she worked for the First Interstate Bank of Nevada for 29 years before taking retirement. In the fall of 2003 they returned to Missouri, settling in the Maryville area.

Virginia was a member of the Countryside Christian Church, Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, three brothers, Donald, Bobby, and James Hagey and two sisters, Dorothy Hagey, and Mary Francis Campbell.

Her survivors include her brother Larry Hagey of Kansas City, MO, sisters Geraldine Barclay of Clearmont, MO, and Bonnie Crabtree of Maryville, and two brothers-in-law, Paul Crabtree and Lowell Calfee, three sisters-in-law Delores Hagey, Doris Hagey, and Carol Calfee as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Countryside Christian Church in Maryville. The service time is 10:30 AM.

A visitation will start one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow at the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the Countryside Christian Church of Maryville or to Hospice Partners.

Collins, Edwin Lee - Edwin Lee Collins, 74, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Village Care Center in Maryville.

Edwin was born on December 20, 1944 in Maryville, Missouri to Edward L. and Virginia (Whitehead) Collins. He was a 1963 graduate of the Maryville High School. Edwin served in the United States Air Force and worked as a butcher and meat cutter. He was a member of the Barnard American Legion Post #102.

He married Margie McCormick on June 11, 1997 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents and brother Michael Collins.

Survivors include his brother, Wayne (Bonnie) Collins, Barnard, Missouri; step-daughter, Shon Collins, Pickering, Missouri; step-grandson, Dexter Partridge; niece, Jaime Collins, Maryville, Missouri and great-nephew, Jaren Dombek, Maryville, Missouri.

Cordell, Jeffrey Scott "Jeff" -

Jeffrey Scott “Jeff” Cordell, 50, of Quitman, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Jeff was born on October 12, 1969 in St. Joseph, MO to Donald L. and Margaret A. (Walker) Cordell.

A lifelong resident of Quitman, Jeff graduated from West Nodaway High School in 1988. He was a farmer and friend to all—he never met a stranger.

He was of the Methodist faith, and had been a member of the former United Methodist Church in Quitman, MO. He was a member of the Burlington Junction Kiwanis Club, and the Nodaway County Cattleman’s Association.

Jeff would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Full of personality, he loved telling jokes and making people smile. He had a passion for farming, carpentry, and driving miles out his way to see a tractor pull. He loved his kids and spending time with them, teaching them all he knew.

On August 17, 1991, Jeff married Deanne L. Schieber, and she survives of the home.

He is also survived by his children, Lora (Marcus “Tree”) Johnson, Olathe, KS, Emily (Brandon) Niendick, Wellington, MO, Jakob Cordell, Maryville, MO, and Willy Cordell and Benny Cordell, both of the home. His parents, Don and Margaret Cordell, Maryville, MO; 2 sisters, Glenda (Jeff) Long, Skidmore, MO, and Judy (Randy) Frueh, Pickering, MO; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Celebration of life will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Jeff’s body will be cremated after the service and his cremains will be buried later

 

Eckstein, Gerald M. "Jerry" -

Gerald M. “Jerry” Eckstein, 80, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Clyde, MO, passed from this life on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at this home, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Maryville on January 8, 1940, and spent his life in the area.  His parents were Michael and Gertrude (Eickholt) Eckstein, and preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his siblings, Eva Fimple, Leiva Klaus, Hubert Eckstein, Louis Eckstein, Emelia Myers, Leo Eckstein, Bernard Eckstein and Robert Eckstein; and his granddaughter, Tara Florea.

Jerry had attended the Jefferson School District.  He was a bricklayer and concrete contractor his entire life.  He also had a striking resemblance to President Abraham Lincoln, and would dress as him at area parades and functions.

He was a member and attended the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, MO.  A founding member of the Tri-C Fire Department, member of Tri-C Rescue Squad, he retired in 2016 after 30 years as the Mayor of Clyde, MO, a member of the Jefferson School Board.  He was a proud member of AA.

On September 1, 1962 at the Holy Family Church in Conception Junction, Jerry was united in marriage to Ellen Rosetta “Susie” Sybert.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Kaye (Joe) Brown, Skidmore, MO, Kim (Bill) Florea, Maryville, MO, Kris (Dickie) Henry, Stanberry, MO, and Jerry Joe (Libby) Eckstein, Gower, MO; special niece, Terri (Kim) Carmichael, Maryville, MO; 2 sisters, Eileen (Don, who precedes) Fisher, Maryville, MO, and Clarice Holtman Schuetz, Maryville, MO; 23 Grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. 

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, on Monday, January 20, 2020, at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, MO.  The burial will follow at the St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO.

A parish and family Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, MO.  The visitation will follow from 6-8:00 PM at the church.

Military rites at the cemetery will be conducted by members of the Missouri Military Honors Detail, and members of the Tri-C American Legion Post 464, Conception Junction, MO

 

Emery, Calvin Eugene "John" -

Calvin Eugene “John” Emery, 59, of Maryville, MO passed away unexpectedly January 18, 2020 at the Mosaic Health Care in Maryville, MO.

John was born January 14, 1961 in Maryville, MO.

He was a graduate of Tarkio High School, Tarkio, MO.

He was a man with many disabilities, and in spite of these he was a happy not bitter person.  He would say that his disabilities do not control him, he controlled them.

His hobby was working on the internal works of computers.

He would travel to many different states, living for a time in some.

As per his wishes his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. John was loved by some but will be missed by many

 

Erckenbrack, Jennifer L. - Jennifer L. Erckenbrack, 49, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Nodaway Nursing Home.

Jennifer was born on May 2, 1970 in Lynnwood, Washington to James W. and Linda K. (Bronse) Erckenbrack. She was a graduate of Lake Stevens High School, Lake Stevens, Washington. She was a dietary manager for Village Care Center and Nodaway Nursing Home both of Maryville.

She is survived by her father, James Erckenbrack, Maryville, Missouri; half-brother, George Duke, Jr., Washington State; Aunt, Anita Patterson, Marshall, Arkansas; step-father, Chad Paterson, Lynnwood, Washington; friend, Steve Swaim, Maryville, Missouri and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda K. Paterson.

Garber, Abbot Andrew - Abbot Andrew Garber, O.S.B., 91, of Conception, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at St. Stephen’s Infirmary at Conception Abbey, Conception, Missouri.

Abbot Andrew was born on October 28, 1928 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to the late Ferdinand and Martha (Klinkhamer) Garber. He was a graduate of St. John’s Military Academy, Washington, DC.

He professed as a monk of St. Benedict Abbey, Benet Lake, Wisconsin, on September 8, 1952. He was ordained May 26, 1956, and eventually was elected the second Abbot of St. Benedict Abbey on March 11, 1964. He resigned as Abbot on May 21, 1974. Other assignments include hospital chaplaincies in Illinois and Indiana, and pastor of parishes in Illinois and Wisconsin. He moved to Conception Abbey in 2016, where he resided in the Abbey’s infirmary.

Abbot Andrew is survived by his monastic community; one brother, Raymond Garber, Surprise, Arizona; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm Friday, November 15 with Vespers of the Dead at 7:15 pm at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am Saturday, November 16 at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Abbot Andrew’s mortal remains will be returned to Benet Lake, where a second Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 19, with burial following at St. Benedict Abbey Cemetery, Benet Lake, Wisconsin. Arrangements Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri

 

Gaugh, Kathleen Young -

Kathleen Gaugh, 88, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the Mosaic Health Care, Maryville.

Kathleen was born on April 26, 1931, in Quitman, MO, to Russell Byron and Lula Mae (Parshall) Young.  They preceded her in death.  She was also preceded by her husband, Norman Gaugh, in 1999, and her 12 brothers and sisters.

She lived in the area most all of her life, except for the 4 years her husband Norman served in the US Air Force.  She graduated from Maryville High school, and had worked at Montgomery Wards, and Sears, and later was the co-owner of the Gaugh Drug Store In Maryville for many years.

Kathleen was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church, Maryville.  She was a member and past president of PEO, Chapter K.P., and was a Jaycee Wife. 

She liked antiques, bowling, and was an avid bridge player.  She loved her family, and her 2 beloved pets, Harpo and Bentley.

Her survivors include her 2 sons. David (Jill) Gaugh, Alexandria, VA, and John Gaugh, Chattanooga, TN; 2 granddaughters, Mackenzie Gaugh, Kansas City, MO, and Ashlee (Cary) Bohn, Decator, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Makenna, Parker, and Jaxson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.  The burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, MO

 

Hamilton, Marilyn V. -

Marilyn V. Hamilton, 55, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the Maryville Living Center.

Marilyn was born on November 15, 1964 in Des Moines, IA.  Her parents were Harry and Joan (Browning) Hamilton. She had lived in this area most all her life. 

She graduated from West Nodaway High School, Burlington Junction, MO.  She had worked at NOCOMO Industries, in Maryville., and had baby-sat her niece and nephew. 

Marilyn liked to crochet, to watch NASCAR especially Dale Earnhart, JR., and Princess Diane and the British Royal family.   She was of the Methodist faith.

Her brother Kurt Hamilton preceded her in death in the early 1990’s.

Her survivors include her mother, Joan Hamilton, Maryville, her father, Harry Hamilton, Rulo, NE; 2 sisters, Carolyn Hansen, Maryville, and Nancy (Kenneth) Johnson, Clearmont, MO; her nephew, Michael Johnson, Port Smith, AR, her niece, Cassie (Mark) Lang, Sydney, IA; and 2 great nephews, Max and Cole Lang.

Marilyn's body has been cremated under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, December 15, 2019, at the Maryville Living Center, Maryville, MO.  No formal visitation Is planned.

The burial will be at a later date in the High Prairie Cemetery, Elmo, MO

 

Henderson, Nicholas "Nick" S. -

Nicholas S. “Nick” Henderson, 64, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville.

He was born on February 24, 1955, in Panama City, FL, to Mary Gainer and Franklin Henderson, and was raised by Ike and Mildred Schmidt of Mandan, ND.

On May 14, 2005, he married Karri Genthe in Syracuse, NE.  She survives of the home.

Nick served in the US Navy.  He was a member of the Nodaway Lodge #470, AF & AM, Maryville, the Rosanna Chapter #262, of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Scottish Rite Masons #300, Denver, CO.  He was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church, Maryville.  Nick was a Project Manager in the telecom industry. 

He enjoyed cheering for the Huskers, talking with friends, listening to George Strait, and thinking he could play golf.  He greatest joy was being a Dad and he loved every moment he was able to spend with his children and wife. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and father in law Kenneth Genthe.

His is survived by his wife; two sons, Dayn Kenneth and Logan Ike, and two daughters, Laci Mildred and Malinda Florence, all of the home; his mother in law, Linda Conkel (Mike) of St. Augustine, FL; and many friends.

Nick has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville

 

Henggeler, Cletus Joseph - Cletus J. Henggeler, 87, of Stanberry, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville, Missouri.

Cletus was born on March 18, 1932 near Clyde, Missouri to Joseph C. and Mary C. (Runde) Henggeler. He was a graduate of the Jefferson High School and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and was a farmer in the Clyde and Conception area for 62 years.

He married Lovie Joy Shughart on July 4, 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri at the St. Augusta Catholic Church. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Mary, Catherine, Joseph, Daniel, Karl and Henry; one sister, Bernita Behm and eleven grandchildren.

Cletus was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Francis, Eugene, Vincent, Maurus and Mercedes.

Mass of Christian Burial 10am Monday, November 4th at St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, Missouri under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the St. Columba Cemetery in Conception, Missouri. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, VFW Conception Jct. or the MFA Scholarship. Henggeler, Michael G. -

Michael G. Henggeler, 55, of Ravenwood, MO, passed from this life on November 6, 2019, at his home with his family at his side, after battling a long illness.

Mike was born in Maryville, MO on February 5, 1964, to Vincent W. and Anna A. (McQuinn) Henggeler.  His father preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by 2 brothers, Stephen and Donald; and his mother-in-law, Patsy Mercer.

Mike graduated in 1982 from Conception C-123 High School, Conception Junction, MO.  He liked his building trades courses in school and put them to good use.  He was a lifelong resident of Nodaway County.

He had worked for Woodruff-Arnold in Maryville for 15 years, and the Northeast Nodaway School District in Ravenwood, and was a self-employed farmer.

Mike liked to hunt and fish, and it was never too early to get up to go.  He enjoyed camping, playing in the snow, and cutting firewood.  He was handy; brave enough to take something apart, and patient enough to put it back together. He had trouble telling anyone ‘no’ who needed his help.  He was a jack of all trades, and if he had the parts, he’d fix about anything. His dog ‘Ryder’ is sure gonna miss him. 

Since 1996 Mike was a member of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department, Ravenwood, and its longtime board president.  He was also an amateur radio operator.

On February 27, 1988 in Maryville, MO, Mike was united in marriage to Anita Jo Mercer.  She survives of the home.

He is also survived by his 2 children; daughter, Jessica N. (Anthony) Simpson, Maryville, MO and, son, Jason M. Henggeler, of the home;  his mother, Anna A. Higginbotham, Sybil Ann Sims -

Sybil Ann Higginbotham, 82, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the Mosaic Health Care ER, Maryville.

Sybil was born in Lima, Ohio on December 5, 1937.  Her parents were Earle and Mary Louise Sims.  They preceded her in death. 

She graduated from Fairfax High School, Fairfax, MO in 1955.  She got her teaching degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1959, and had taught home economics.

In 1959, at the Christian Church in Fairfax, Sybil was united in marriage to Harlan Keith Higginbotham.  They had lived in Ames, Iowa from 1959-64.  Then they moved back to Maryville.   

She worked at the Social Security Administration, and then the Farmers Home Administration in Maryville, retiring in 1999 after 35 years.

Sybil was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, and was involved with a bible study group, the Deborah Circle, and the FUMC Church Women’s Group.  She had also been the church funeral coordinator.  She was a PEO member for over 50 years in Maryville.  She was a book club member, and loved to play bridge.

She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority at Northwest; and had remained active with the group over the years. 

Her survivors include her husband, Harlan, of the home; 4 children. Malinda Sue (Brent) Owens, Lexington, KY, Julia Marie (Eric) Horton, Kansas City, MO, Dr. Harlan Keith Higginbotham, Jr., Santa Barbara, CA, and Dr. Mary Lynn (Jonathan) Mahorney, Manhattan, KS; 10 grandchildren.  Jillian (Sam) Liebl, Bradley, and Mason Owens, Curtis, Kyle, and Irene Horton, Zachary and Kayla Higginbotham, Alexander and Emerson Mahorney; 1 great grandson, Adam Liebl; her sister, Susie Dollar, Springfield, MO; as well as cousins and lots of friends.

Sybil has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Jackson, Beverly Sue Crawford - Beverly Sue Jackson, 87, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Oak Pointe of Maryville.

Beverly was born on February 3, 1932 in Barnard, Missouri to Opha M. and Hazel V. (Thompson) Crawford. She attended grade School at Trego and graduated from Graham High School. She was a homemaker and attended Skidmore Christian Church.

She married Doyle E. Jackson on May 11, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2001. She was also preceded by her parents, one son, Rodney Jackson and five brothers, Dale, Forrest, Curtis, Martin and Eldon.

Survivors include her son, Randy (Kara) Jackson, Barnard, Missouri; brother, Jack Crawford; two sisters, Alice Moats, and Frances Coffey; five grandchildren, Keith Jackson, Shanelle Kidd, Sterling Jackson, Emily Manker and Stetson Jackson; seven great-grandchildren, Madysen Jackson, Sailor Kidd, Wyatt Jackson, Morgan Jackson, Gavin Jackson, Aubrey Jackson and Hayden Jackson.

Johnson, Helen R. Elliott -

Helen R Johnson ,79, of Barnard, MO, passed away December 24, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Helen was born January 26, 1940 in Sheridan, MO. Her parents were John Elliott, and Mary (Young) Elliott. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two sisters Rose Allen and Betty Jensen, as well as one son Randy Johnson who died in infancy.
Helen was of the Christian faith.

She was employed at the NEBS plant (now Deluxe) of Maryville, where she worked for 24 years.

Helen loved woodworking; she built furniture and cabinets, and completely remodeled two houses. She loved to garden. She loved going to sporting events which her children and grandchildren were participating in. She was a person who loved to work. Also seeing that her children worked, starting with her sons mowing many lawns during warm months.

On December 13, 1958 in Maryville she married Larry Johnson. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her four children; Robert “Bob” Johnson of Barnard, Rick (Teresa) Johnson also of Barnard, Arlene (Randy) Ward of Maryville, and Janet (Dick Peve) Cacek of Kansas City, MO. Eleven grandchildren; Adam, Abby, & Alex Johnson, Zane Schulte, Rachel & Jacklyn Anderson, Candice Bristow, Whitney Brown, Chelsea Johnson, Jacob & Jennifer Cacek.

A visitation for Helen Johnson will be, Friday December 27, 2019 at the Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, from 6-8 PM.

Johnson, Leann Griffey - Leann Johnson, age 56, of Wyalusing, PA passed away surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the at her home.

Leann was born on February 2, 1963, in Maryville, MO the daughter of Freda Conz Griffey of Maryville, MO and the late Eldon “Laverne” Griffey (d. May 4, 2014).

She was raised in Maryville and was a graduate of Maryville High School. Leann was employed with Northwest Missouri State University, as well as with Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Casey, Pilot, and Break Time Gas Companies in Missouri and Connie’s Market after she moved to Wyalusing.

She enjoyed shopping, watching fireworks, and doing various crafts. She took great pleasure in watching squirrels, butterflies and birds, especially cardinals. Leann looked forward to visiting her family and friends in Missouri after she moved to PA. She loved to spend time with her family including her dogs Macey and Copper.

Leann is survived by Timothy Johnson, whom she married on March 30, 2013; her children, Steven Stuart (Melissa) of Osage City, KS, Joanna Stuart (Mike) of Elmo, MO, Kylie Roediger (Clete) of Windham, PA, Kara Johnson (Dillon Horton) of Waverly, NY; her grandchildren, Raygan Stuart, Kaylie Harris, Carson Harris, Xavier George, Katia Stuart, Jillianne Stuart, Kensley Wagner, Brie Roediger, Kayden Roediger, Leah Roediger, and Braxton Horton; her mother, Freda Conz Griffey of Maryville, MO; her brothers Leslie Griffey (Gloria) of Siloam Springs, AR, Lloyd Griffey of Maryville, MO, and Larry Griffey (Sarah) of Kidder, MO. She is also survived by her father/mother-in-laws, Sheldon and Kay Johnson, Sharon and Leon Vail; her grandmother-in-law Marion Voda; her sister-in-laws Telysa Norman and Tammy Potenzino (Larry); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kelly, Sheila K. Daughton - Sheila Kay Kelly, 79 of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Sheila was born February 1, 1940 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to the late Dwain and Kathryne (Brown) Daughton. She was a graduate of Grand River Iowa High School and received her B.S. degree from Iowa State University. She married Alfred B. Kelly on May 29, 1962 in Grand River, Iowa. Early in their marriage, she worked as a dietitian while Alfred furthered his education. Eventually, she turned all her focus to managing their home and family life.

As a wife, sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother, Sheila's family was her everything. She had a formidable vegetable garden, impressive bridge skills, and a strong interest in current events and women's rights. She enjoyed cooking for loved ones, playing Pitch with family and finding a good bargain wherever possible. All through it all, she gave selflessly to every life she touched.

Her survivors include Alfred and their children, Debbie (Jeff) Kieffer, Lenexa, KS, Doug (Phyllis) Kelly, Lee's Summit, MO, and Diane (Bryan) Kopp, Leawood, KS; two brothers, James (Della) Daughton, Minneapolis, MN and Bruce Daughton Billings, MT; three grandchildren Matthew (Lizzie) Kieffer, Blaine Kelly and Anna Kelly.

Services 2PM, Monday, November 25th at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. A private family burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time on Monday prior to the service.

Landes, Adolf Richard -

Dr. Adolf Richard Landes, 79, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Oak Pointe of Maryville.

Richard was born on March 21, 1940, in Havana Cuba.  His parents were Richard Bender and Luisa (Westpal) Landes.  Richard attended grade school and a private five-year high school where he studied sciences.

He intended to work in his parent’s adhesive factory, however Castro took power and confiscated the business and all his parent’s assets included their bank account.  At that point Richard left Cuba under diplomatic cover.  He arrived in the United States and through his family friends was enrolled as a student at Fort Hays State University, Fort Hayes, KS.  He received his BS and MS in chemistry after 5 years of study.  Although Richard lived in the United States for many years, he remained a German citizen.

Richard was hired as an assistant professor of chemistry at Northwest Missouri State University in 1967.  He was to serve in that capacity for more than 30 years.  During that time Richard served as the foreign student advisor.  Many of the current practices evolved from his work.  As a teacher, chemistry students as juniors and seniors appreciated his academic discipline.  Several large companies sought his students.

He had several hobbies and a passion.  He hobbies were HO scale German electric trains and automobiles.  Over the years he had collected many engines and cars.  He treated his vehicles well including his BMW. 

His passion was cycling.  His dream was to have a cycling path from Maryville to Iowa.  He had led groups to lobby for the path. 

He had he owned a business in Maryville, the Crank and Pedal.  And for several years repaired cycles for the people of Maryville.  His summers were taken up by the many cycling trips with his students to Europe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by an uncle in Germany.

Richard’s wishes were to be cremated and they have been completed under the care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Lewis, Oral "Pete" - Oral D. “Pete” Lewis, 84, of Ravenwood, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at his home.

Pete was born on January 19, 1935 in Isadora, Missouri to Perry L. and Rosella M. (Walker) Lewis.

He was a graduate of the Ravenwood High School and served in the United States Army. He retired from OPPD in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

He married Joan L. Angle on June 8, 1958 in Ravenwood, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 23, 1993. He was also preceded by his parents, two daughters, Cathy Bullock and Janet Carrier, grandson, Joshua Ighoyivwi, two sisters, Phyllis Price and Carolyn Lewis and two brothers, Freddie and Ronnie Lewis.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Robert) Sherman, Hartville, Missouri and Linda (Michael) Ighoyivwi, Oak Grove, Missouri; sister, Colleen Stoll, Maryville, Missouri; two brothers, Donnie (Eloise) Lewis, Parnell, Missouri and Eldon (Nancy) Lewis, Maryville, Missouri; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lincoln, Kathleen Caroline Galusha -

Kathleen Caroline Lincoln, 91, of Bedford, IA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Azria Health in Clarinda, IA.

Kathleen was born on November 11, 1927 in Grand Island, NE, she had formerly lived in western Nebraska until 1961, then in Glenwood, IA until 1971, and then she moved to Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marguerite (Lemke) Galusha, her husband, Ernest “Jack” Lincoln in 2011, they were married on March 1, 1950 in Alliance NE; her siblings Thelma Jean and husband, Hugh Hutchinson, and Earl George and wife, Linda Galusha; her infant sister, Gwendolyn; and her son in law, Thomas Drobny.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Elizabeth Drobny, Hopkins, MO; 2 granddaughters, Frankie (Bryan) Titus, Hopkins, MO, and Kaitlin (Steve) Howdle, Sioux Falls, IA, and great granddaughters, Maulie and Mackenzie Titus, Hopkins, MO, and grandson, Landry Howdle; and several nieces and nephews. 

Kathleen Lincoln went by many names  and titles Teacher, wife, mom, Mrs. Lincoln, Aunt Kathleen, Grandma, and Sis. Kathleen took pride in the rolls she served as she was always willing to help. She was resourceful and a true self starter having grown up in Western Nebraska during the 1930s and 40s. 

Kathleen graduated early from Alliance High School, Alliance NE in the Spring of 1945 and that fall started teaching country school. She attended Chadran State Teachers College and continued at Dana College, Blair NE. Kathleen graduating with a Bachelors in Education in 1970. 
 
Kathleen taught school for 47 years, and in those 47 years she got married, raised a family and was always a constant care giver. In addition to teaching Kathleen enjoyed gardening, cooking, long car rides in the summer and having just a taste of "your" ice cream from the Frosty. 
 
Mrs. Lincoln’s body has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
 
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Hopkins, MO.  The burial will be at a later date.

Lyle, Burton E. - Burton E. Lyle, 87, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on January 10, 2020 at his home.

Burton was born on April 7, 1932 in Maryville, Missouri to W.E. and Nettie L. (Moore) Lyle. He was a graduate 1950 graduate of Horace Mann High School and graduated from the University of Colorado. He served in the Army Reserves and was an assistant manager of Sears Department in Maryville.

Survivors include his sister, Joyce Hornbuckle, Maryville, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Don and Rachael Lyle and brother-in-law, Wilbur Hornbuckle.

Mr. Lyle has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. Graveside Memorial Service and Burial will be held at 11am Tuesday, January 21st at Oak Hill Cemetery in Maryville under the care of Price Funeral Home

 

Markley, Julie Ann Everhart -

Julie Ann Markley, 50, of Hopkins, MO, died on January 17, 2020, at Mosaic Medical Center, Maryville, MO.

She was born on October 26, 1969, in Mt Ayr, IA, and was the daughter of Jesse Everhart Sr., and Lois Carpenter Everhart.  She graduated from North Nodaway High School, class of 1988.  She also attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO.  While there, she met Christopher Dean Markley.  They were married in Hopkins on January 13, 1990.  They became the parents of one son, Justin Dean Markley.

Julie worked at NSK Corp. in Clarinda, IA for nearly 27 years.  She enjoyed crafting, painting windows, cooking and taking care of her family, which included attending activities of her nieces and nephews.  She loved decorating her home both inside and out.  She raised beautiful flowers in her yard and was an excellent gardener.  She loved sports and was an athlete in school and continued that love with coaching and supporting young kids.  She loved the Chiefs, the Royals, the Mizzou Tigers, and the Northwest Bearcats.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Everhart; sister, Jeanne Vorhies; parents Jesse and Lois Everhart; mother in law, Karen Markley; grandparents, Bill and Mary Everhart, Dana and Pearl Carpenter; and many aunts and uncles.

Julie is survived by her husband, Chris; son Justin (Courtney Bishop); brothers, Jess (Linda) Everhart, Jerald (Corey) Everhart; sister Janet (Al) Hoover; brother in law, Larry Vorhies; uncles, Eldon (Barbara) Everhart, Dave Vance; aunts, Phyllis Morrison, Linda Everhart Meier, Marion Everhart, Rosie Carpenter, Bonnie Carpenter, Stella Carpenter; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

McDonald, Doris Dean Pierson -

Doris Dean (Pierson) McDonald, age 92, of Maryville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Nodaway Nursing Home surround by family.

Doris was born November 18, 1927 in rural Taylor County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Stanley and Pearl (Arthur) Pierson.

On January 10, 1946, Doris married Joseph Earl McDonald. Doris and Earl made their home in Quitman, Missouri until Doris’s move to Maryville after Earl’s passing.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, brothers Dennis, Edwin and Howard Pierson and sister Elsie Mae Farrell. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Robbie Lyle, and nephews Scott and Donald Pierson, and son-in-law Ron Yates.

Doris is survived by her daughter Sharon Yates, Granddaughter Brenda Lyle Tamse (Joe), Grandson Jeff Lyle (Tara), sisters Donna Pierson and Helen (Ray) Davison, great-granddaughters, Stevie (Will) Toomey, Heather and Maggie Utterback, Devian (Marcus) Perkins, Haillie Maupin, and great-grandson, Trystan Lyle, and great-great grandchildren Eleanor & Caroline Toomey, Lilly Maupin and Ryder and Riley Perkins, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Mary Ann (Dennis) Pierson.

McGeorge, Philip Eugene - Philip McGeorge, 77, of Barnard, Missouri passed away on November 13, 2019.

Philip was born July 1, 1942 to Eldon and Frances McGeorge. They preceded him in death along with his wife Marlyn McGeorge and grandson Trenton McGeorge.

McPike, Eldon R. - Eldon R. McPike, 83, of Maitland, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 2, 2020 at his home.

Eldon was born on November 5, 1936 in Skidmore, Missouri to Oscar Kenneth and Mildred V. (Larason) McPike.

He was a graduate of the Maitland High School. He was a mechanic for Braniff Airlines and later worked for General Motors at the Fairfax Plant until his retirement. Eldon was a member of the Maitland Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge in Missouri City. He was also a Deputy Marshall for Crystal Lakes, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia McPike, three children, Dianna Lee, Kenneth McPike and Brenda Leonard and one granddaughter, Stephanie McPike.

He married Geniece L. Hansford on March 20, 2010 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include her two daughters, Helen Parkison, Graham, Missouri and Darlene (Adam) Greeley, Los Fresnos, Texas; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons and his dog Sophie.

Meek, Jimmey T. -  Jimmey T. Meek, 57, passed away November 22, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Jimmey was born October 23, 1962 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was the son of the late James Donald Meek and Joyce (Meyer) Meek.

He was employed by Nodaway Nursing Home as maintenance supervisor, for 17 years, before retirement. Jimmey was a member of the Elmo Community Betterment

Jimmey was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jay Meek and granddaughter Dakota Hoyt.

Surviving are sons, Jacob (Tanya) Jones, Braddyville, IA and Jesse Jones, Indianola, IA, daughters,Toni (Kurt) Wildasin, Council Bluffs, IA and Kaley (Buzzy) Foster, Clarinda, IA, sisters, Connie (Jim) Cole , New Market, IA, Kathy (Kenneth) Armstrong of Burlington Junction, MO, Terry Davidson, Elmo, MO, eight grandchildren and one greatgranddaughter, nieces and nephews.

Mowry, Richard R. -

Richard R. Mowry, 84, of Maitland, MO, passed from this life on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

Richard was born in Graham, MO, on November 10, 1935.  His parents were Ray and Roxie I. (Randall) Mowry.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his sister, Deloris Palmer.

He graduated from Graham High School, in 1953.  He worked at the 71 Café in Maryville while attending Northwest Missouri State Teacher College.  He then worked at Ray Riley’s Mobil station, and later worked at the Armour Co., in Omaha, NE for 3 years.  He was drafted into the US Army on October 1, 1958. 

On June 14, 1959, he married Dixie Wiley, after which they drove to Atlanta, GA where Richard was stationed at Ft. McPherson.  They resided there for a year and four months

After Richard’s discharge, they resided in the Skidmore and Maitland communities for four years and he farmed while attending NWMSC.  He graduated in 1964 with a B.A. in Secondary Education, and a double major in Industrial Arts and Agriculture.  The family moved to Iowa upon his graduation where both Richard and Dixie were employed in Education.  During this time Richard continued graduate school and received his M.A. Degree in Guidance Counseling in 1970.  While teaching, he also coached basketball, refereed and umpired ballgames.

His survivors include his wife, Dixie, of the home,  2 daughters, Teri (Paul) Nicholson, Virginia Beach, VA, and Lori (Kent) Geppert, Des Moines, IA; his sister, Anna Lea Lance, Graham, MO, 2 grandchildren, Victoria (Jesse) Schall, and Byron Geppert; 3 great grandchildren, Delilah Schall, Anastasia Schall, and Eyan Geppert; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, on Monday, January 27, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.  The burial will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO

 

New, Robert Lee - Robert Lee New was born May 12, 1933, in Hopkins, Missouri the son of Frank New and Letha (Blake) New. He grew up attending school in Hopkins, graduating with the Class of 1950. Bob was united in marriage to E. Darlene Kight on November 17, 1951. To this union three children were born, Joy, Terry and Joni.

The family lived in rural Page County where Bob worked for the Redfield Sullivan Furniture Company and J.R. Furniture. The family moved into Clarinda in 1969, and Bob went to work for Hygrade Meat Plant. In 1975, he went to work at NSK for 21 years, retiring in 1996. During his working years he also raised horses. Bob’s passion was breaking horses to ride, and he always kept a pony around for the grandchildren to ride. Bob and Darlene enjoyed dancing together whenever possible. In fact, they danced in their living room every Sunday night to ‘Satin Sheets’. In 1980, his wife Darlene passed away. Bob was a member of the Elks and the Masonic Lodge.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his three children, Joy McKinnon of Clarinda, Iowa; Terry New and wife Myra of Clarinda, Iowa; and Joni Andersen and husband Rod of Clarinda, Iowa; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Melba Dawson of Bedford, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Frank and Letha New; his loving wife Darlene New; three sisters, Iola Millen, Viola Pullen and Dorothy Pullen; and one brother, Orville New

Puckett, Danny G. -

Danny G. Puckett, 65, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the Hospice House, at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Danny was born in Bedison, MO, on May 13, 1954, and lived all his life in the area.  His parents were Millard F and Jennie D. (Mozingo) Puckett.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his brother, Frank Puckett, and sister Lana O’Marrah.

He was a member and attended the Barnard Christian Church, Barnard, MO.  He liked to work with wood, to hunt and fish in his younger days.  He enjoyed his grandkids, genealogy, and loved to visit.

On October 14, 1983, in Miami, OK, Danny was united in marriage to Debra J. “Debbie” Caldwell, and she survives of the home.

He is also survived by his 2 children, Heather Wallace, Maryville, and Clint Puckett, of the home; his 4 siblings, Millard (Louise) Puckett, Jr., Merriam Woods, MO, Charles (Rena) Puckett, Barnard, MO, Myrtle Still, Maryville, and Penny (Gary) Emery, Maryville; 2 grandchildren, Emmy Wallace, and Eli Wallace; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Danny has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Barnard Christian Church, Barnard, MO.  The inurnment will be at a later date

 

Reidlinger, Kimberly Kay -  Kimberly Kay Reidlinger, 51, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at her home.

Kimberly was born on March 15, 1968 in Stanberry, Missouri. She was a 1986 graduate of Jefferson High School. She worked as a care giver and was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Amanda Jo Reidlinger (Jason Cacek), Maryville, Missouri, Rachael Ann (Klint) McKee, Maryville, Missouri, Rene Lynn Reidlinger, Ottawa, Kansas; two grandchildren, Marshall Hague and Aiden Cacek; Parents, Jim and Debra Bliley. Conception Junction, Missouri and her grandmother, Betty Bliley, Stanberry, Missouri.

Roberts, Luther D. "Luke" -

Luther D. “Luke” Roberts, 81, of Hopkins, MO, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019, at the Mosaic Health Care ER, in Maryville, MO.

Luke was born in Alta, IA, on October 8, 1938, his parents were Roy Clifton and Helen V. (Leber) Roberts.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his brothers, Rolly, Clovis, Clifford, Leonard, Raymond, and Herbert; and his sisters, Doris Rea, and Darlene Williamson.

Luke had worked in maintenance at the old St. Joseph Hospital, now Mosaic Life Care.  He enjoyed rock hunting and Indian artifacts.  He was of the Christian faith.

His survivors include 2 sisters, Tena Jones, Orlando. FL, and Phyllis F. (Dennis) Guthrie, Clearmont, MO, his brother Guy D. Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Roberts has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.  No services are planned at this time

 

Root, Eldon Leroy -

Eldon Leroy Root, 88 of New Virginia, Iowa, passed on Friday, November 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

Eldon was born on May 30, 1931 in Hopkins, Missouri to Lloyd and Amanda Root. He was in the Korean War, Veteran of the US Army. He worked for Burlington Railroad as a painter of railroad bridges and owned Ace Sandblasting & Painting in Norwalk until he retired.

He is survived by Doris, his wife, of 64 years, half-brother, Kenny Root, of Texas and four daughters – Tana (Rocky) Blackford of New Virginia, Tara (Keith) Webb of Kentucky, Colete Root of Des Moines, Celina (Todd) Buck of Runnells, grandchildren, Amber Roll, Travis Webb, Courtney Tillotson and Chad Buck; great grandchildren, Ethan Webb, Paige and Logan Roll and Chloe Tillotson.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Per Eldon’s wishes he will be cremated, and the family will have a private celebration of his life later.

 

Schreck, Lawrence Albert "Larry" - Lawrence Albert “Larry” Schreck, 80, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville.

Larry was born on August 20, 1939 in Alvin, Texas to Albert Maurice and Anna Mae (Hayden) Schreck. He was a graduate of the Kahoka Missouri High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Kirksville State Teachers College. He was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 35 years, retiring in 1995 as District Manager of the Sedalia, Missouri office. Larry was a proud father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Larry was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. He was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting deer and turkey.

He married Doris Ann Roberts on June 9, 1962 in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Louis (Renee) Schreck of Maryville, Missouri, Phillip (Amy) Schreck of Maryville, Missouri, Laura (Brent) Bostwick of Omaha, Nebraska, Jill (Ron) Zalesny of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Marie Hawthorne (Ken Agey) of Des Moines, Iowa and Michael (Abby) Schreck of Maryville, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, Andy (Rachel) Schreck, John (Jessica) Schreck, Joe Schreck, Lindsey (Tyler) Ingram, Emily Schreck, Blake Schreck, Alex (Laurel) Thomson, Adam (Aimee) Thomson, Rob Crozier, Steve (Casey) Crozier, Jenny (Ryan) Durkin, Hunter Hawthorne, Hannah Hawthorne, Colton (Maranda) Chubick, Connor Chubick and Josie Schreck; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Schreck of Wright City, Missouri and Vince Schreck of Kahoka, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, John Andrew Schreck and one brother, Eddie Schreck.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Monday, January 6th at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Maryville. Scott, Robert F. -

Robert F. Scott, 95, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on November 12, 2019, at the Village Care Center, Maryville.

He was born in Maryville on May 25, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of the area.  His parents were Walter F. and Mary (Fisher) Scott; they preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his wife Phyllis; his sisters, Marjorie Young, and Helen Zimmerman; and his grandson, Jesse Scott.

Robert was a member of the Church of Christ, Maryville.  He was an avid coon- hunter, and loved taking care of his cattle; he was a lifelong farmer.  He also liked going to Gray’s Truck Stop, Maryville, for coffee and visiting with friends, and he enjoyed life. 

On July 20, 1946, in Maryville, MO, Robert was united in marriage to Phyllis P. Thompson.  She passed away on January 20, 2018, after 71 years of marriage.

His survivors include his 2 children, Robbie (Boda) Scott, Maryville, and Ronda (Victor) Krainbill, Bern, KS; his siblings, Sandy Browne, Sarah Sparks, and Bill Scott; 3 grandchildren, Seth (Keegan) Scott, Lauren Kauffman, and Wade Kauffman; 2 great grandchildren, Hayden and Hudson Scott; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. 

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home

 

Scott, William F. "Bill" -

William F. “Bill” Scott, 98, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the Village Care Center, Maryville.

Bill was born on June 5, 1921, in Brush, Colorado, his parents were Walter F. and Mary E. (Fisher) Scott, of Maryville, MO.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his wife; his sisters, Helen Zimmerman, Marjorie Young; and his brother, Robert F. Scott.

He grew up west of Maryville on the family farm and graduated from Maryville High School in 1938.  He spent most of his life as a farmer in the Maryville and Barnard area.

In 1955 at the First Christian Church in Maryville, Bill was united in marriage to Mary I. Kiser.  They resided and raised their children on a farm south of Barnard.  Their life together centered around their family and the life-long friendships maintained though out their lives.  Mary passed away on February 13, 1991.   

Survivors include two sisters; Sandra (Kermit) Browne, Waxahachie, TX, Sarah (Bill) Sparks, Las Vegas, NV; his children, Sam (Shari) Scott, Albany, MO, Jim (Joyce) Scott, Maryville, Jane (Kurt) Wolmart, Boynton Beach, FL; and grandchildren, Ethan and Jacob Scott, Maryville, and Eric (Nicole) Angle, Albany, MO; great grandchildren, Lukas and Sawyer Angle; sister in law, Macil Laughlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville, MO

 

Sears, Charles W. "Bill" -

Charles William “Bill” Sears, 86, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Mosaic Health Care, Maryville.

Bill was born in Maryville on April 16, 1933.  His parents were Dr. Kirtley and Ann Vivian (Buhler) Sears.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his sister, Vivian Ann Kieser, and his 2 brothers, Buhler and Dick Sears.

He graduated from Maryville High School in 1951.  Then proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  

He was a brick mason his entire life, and owned and operated Sears Masonry, Maryville, MO.   Bill’s job had taken him all-over the US, and he had lived and worked in different areas, but Maryville was always home. 

He had his private pilots license and once landed his plane during an engine failure on the highway near Mount Alverno, east of Maryville. 

He was never without his cigar, and only lit it when he was mad.  He taught many to lay brick and blocks and was once described as a legend.  He also always had a story.  Later he liked working with wood and had made many US burial flag boxes for the Legion and VFW. 

Bill was of the Catholic faith.  And was a member of the VFW, Maryville.

He married the mother of his children, Beverly Karol Buetzer, then later divorced. She passed away in 1993. 

His survivors include his children, Sandra (Eric) Degase, Trimble, MO, Steve (Peggy) Sears, Maryville, MO, and Rob Sears, Maryville; his sister Shirley (John) Zech, Maryville; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville.  Cremation will follow the service

 

Snively, Wilson W. - Wilson Wayne Snively, 74, of Maryville, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville.

Wilson was born on August 4, 1945 in Maryville, Missouri to the late Virgil M. and Bonnie E. (Koger) Snively. He was a graduate of the Skidmore High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. He was a lineman for Nodaway Worth Electric Company and later was the director of Safety and Compliance for United Electric. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Skidmore Saddle Club. Wilson enjoyed fishing, camping, and was a rodeo cowboy and a team roper.

He married Pam Tuggle, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include two daughters, Amy (Josh) Keeton, Leavenworth, Kansas and Stephanie (Jeff) Pedersen, Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Samantha Vinardi, and Breezie and Dane Pedersen, and their special boys, Kolby Jenkins, Trustin and Keaton Allen; two sisters, Rita Keith, Maryville, Missouri and Wanda Kernes, Easton, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Stoll, LaVona "Coline" Lewis

LaVona “Coline” Stoll, 83, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Conception Junction, MO, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, at the Maryville Living Center.

Coline was born on June 1, 1936, in Altheston, IA; her parents were Perry J. and Rosella M. (Walker) Lewis.  They preceded her in death.  She had lived in Maryville the past 25 years.

On October 27, 1956, she married Alfred S. Stoll at the Abbey in Conception and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2004.  She was also preceded by her parents; her brothers, Freddie, Ronnie, and Oral Dean Lewis, and sisters, Phyllis Price, and infant sister, Carolyn Lewis.

Coline was a homemaker.  She had attended St. Columba Catholic Church, later she was a member and attended St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville.  She was a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society, and the Tri-C American Legion Post 464 Auxiliary.

Her survivors include her children, Galen (Kathy) Stoll, Bolckow, MO, Cynthia (Ron) Sullivan, Maryville, MO, Randy (Lori) Stoll, Conception Junction, MO, and Lisa (Keith) Ruehter, Barnard, MO; her 2 brothers, Donald (Eloise) Lewis, Parnell, MO, and Eldon “Red” (Nancy) Lewis, Maryville, MO; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, on Friday, January 31, 2020, at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, MO.  The burial will follow at the St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO.

A parish and family Rosary will be at 5:30 PM, on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at St. Columba Catholic Church, with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM.

Stoll, Theresa Delores -

T. Delores Stoll, 71, of Maryville, MO, passed away, on December 29, 2019 in Maryville.

She was born March 9, 1948 in Clyde, MO. to Francis and Julia (Riley) Stoll. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Julia Frances in 1944, a brother Martin Stoll in 2014, and a sister in law, Teresa Stoll, in 2018.

Delores is survived by her siblings: Johanna Stoll of Papillion, NE, Georgia (Gerald) Eiberger, King City, MO, Melvin (Venieta) Stoll, Maryville, MO, and Rita (Ronnie) Gross, Defiance, IA.

She is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition, Delores is survived by numerous foster children; notably Rick Guyer and foster-grandson, Dakota Guyer.

Delores had a 30-year career with the Missouri Division of Family Services in Buchanan Co. Mo. helping children and families in the areas of child abuse/neglect, foster care, adoption, and some juvenile court actions.

A visitation for family and friends and the community will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, January 6, 2020 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Maryville. A rosary will begin at 7 PM. The visitation will continue until 9:00 PM.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Maryville, MO.

Inurnment will be at St. Columba Cemetery in Conception, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. John the Baptist Parish (specifically for orphanage) Bulindi, c/o Hoima Catholic Diocese, Uganda, East Africa, or Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO, or to St. Gregory’s Church Maintenance Fund.

Swalley, Bonnie Hunt Stein - Bonnie Ray Swalley, 79, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Bonnie was born on May 12, 1940 in Westboro, Missouri to Lester Ray and Alyce Marie (Deaver) Hunt. She was a 1959 graduate of Horace Mann High School and a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. She worked as a shift manager at the Hitching Post Restaurant and worked in home health care, she later was a cook at Energizer Battery for many years.

She married Francis Stiens in January 1960 and later divorced. She later married Francis Swalley and later divorced, but remained close friends until his death. She was also preceded by her parents and one son, Brian Anthony Stiens.

Survivors include her children, Clinton Francis (Linda) Stiens, Conception Junction, Missouri, Nathan Patrick (Jill) Stiens, Hopkins, Missouri, Troy Ray (Martha) Stiens, St. Joseph, Missouri, Tyler Shon Stiens (Nikki DeJulis), Coalville, Utah and Shannon (Angela) Stiens, Shawnee, Kansas; six sisters, Tanis Colwell, St. Joseph, Missouri, Connie Wilmes, Maryville, Missouri, Jeanne Jackson, Independence, Missouri, Gayla Reeves, Bonner Springs, Kansas, Carole Middleton, Maryville, Missouri and Joy Harms, Spring Hill, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Troy Stiens, Peter Gonzales, Marie (Drew) Guntert, Olivia Stiens, Brian Stiens, Ben Stiens and Lucy Stiens; two great-grandchildren Ella and Evelyn Guntert and many nieces and nephews.

Teaney, Agnes Addie Belle Berg - Agnes Addie Belle Teaney of Ravenwood, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville, Missouri.

Agnes was born on February 17, 1932 in Parnell, Missouri to Clarence and Dollie (Hawk) Berg. She was a 1950 graduate of Parnell High School, a homemaker and member of the Ravenwood Christian Church.

She married Harold J. “Rusty” Teaney, Sr. on June 4, 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2009. She was also preceded by her parents, son, Harold J. Teaney, Jr.; two brothers, Alfred and Phillip Berg; sister-in-laws, Erma Berg and Clarice Berg.

Survivors include two sons, James H. (Connie) Teaney, Ravenwood, Missouri and John S. (Jeannie) Teaney, Humphrey, Arkansas; brother, Francis Berg, Maryville, Missouri; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services 10am Monday, November 25th at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ravenwood, Missouri under the care of Price Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Oak Lawn Cemetery Association.

 

Thompson, Edna Ruth Davison -

Edna Ruth Thompson, 93, of Bedford, IA, and formerly of Hopkins, MO, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Bedford Specialty Care.

She was born on May 19, 1926, in Braddyville, IA, to Homer and Maggie (Dunn) Davison.  They preceded her in death.  She was also preceded by her husband, Marion Jean Thompson in 2000, her son, Charles in 2014, her 3 brothers, Arnold, Irvin and Kenneth, her son in law Carl Thompson, her granddaughter Marci Ann Thompson, and her great grandson Logan Scott Thornton.

Ruth was self employed and did house cleaning, she painted and was a wall-paper hanger.  She attended the First Christian Church, Hopkins, MO.  Ruth liked to garden and embroidery.

On January 6, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage to Marion Jean Thompson, and they shared 58 years before his death in 2000.

She is survived by her 4 children, Jim (Marcia) Thompson, Republic, MO, Shirley (Mike) Warner, Altoona, IA, Ron (Theresa) Thompson, Hopkins, MO, and Rinda (Kenny) Gladman, Bedford, IA; her brother, Gary Davison, Braddyville, IA; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Vulgamott, Dorothy Evelyn Porter - Dorothy Evelyn Vulgamott, 91, died December 2, 2019, at Parkdale Manor, Maryville. She was born to Everett and Marie Lewis Porter on February 8, 1928, on a farm northeast of Maryville. She graduated from Ravenwood High School in 1944 and graduated from Hagee Beauty School. She was employed for a year at Select Beauty Salon, Maryville.

She married Verlin Dean Vulgamott on February 28, 1946, at the parsonage of the First Baptist Church, Maryville. To this union were born four children: Laverna Kay (Surinder) Sahai, Cypress,Texas; Russell Dean (Janice), Boerne, Texas; Roger Dale (Susan), Topeka, Kansas; and Richard Lee (Anita), Spirit Lake, Iowa. They farmed their entire married life northwest of Maryville. They were married 67 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verlin, on May 12, 2013; two brothers, Lewis Laverne killed on Okinawa April 1,1945, and Wayne Weston Porter in November 2005; her mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Vesta Vulgamott, and brother-in-law, Carrol Vulgamott.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville

 

Wake, Forrest James - Forrest James “Frosty” Wake, 80, of Pickering, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Forrest battled lengthy illnesses of COPD, emphysema, diabetes and cancer and was placed on hospice at the end of his illnesses.

He was born at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri on March 22, 1939 to Donald and Thelma (McKee) Wake, who preceded him in death.

Forrest attended schools at Sheridan, Hopkins and graduated as the Vice-President from Pickering High School in 1957.

Forrest served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1963 as a sheet metal worker on aircrafts. After his honorable discharge, he worked at MFA Elevator at Sheridan. He also worked at Townsend Tree Service, Martin Marietta Concrete Materials. He retired from LMP Steel and Wire after 27 years and was a farmer all his life.

On December 31, 1965, Forrest married Ruth Schimming and unto this union was born a daughter, Melody (Wake) Wilcoxson and son, Jimmy (James) Wake. Forrest and Ruth were married almost 54 years. They lived at Pickering, Missouri most of their married life on a farm, where he raised hogs and cattle and farmed the land in addition to holding down a full-time job.

Forrest was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church. He was a hard worker, great storyteller, an avid coon hunter, fisherman, and competitive card player with his family and friends. He loved reading westerns, particularly by Louis L’Amour, and watching old westerns, his favorite being John Wayne. He was naturally a prankster and loved to play practical, harmless jokes on family and friends. He also loved spoiling and teasing his grandkids.

Forrest is survived by his wife Ruth, of the home; daughter, Melody Wilcoxson, Union Star, Missouri; son, Jimmy (Dawn) Wake, College Springs, Iowa; two sisters, Willa (Meryl) Short, Des Moines, Iowa and Betty Wake, Hopkins, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jamie (Joe) Harness, Nicholas Palmer, Mackenzie Wilcoxson, Carson Wake, Riley Wake and Layne Wake; step-granddaughter, Morgan (Eli) Pulliam Esque; great-grandchild, Jace Harness; step-great-grandchild, Holdyn Esque and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ramona Rinehart of Moravia, Iowa and Donna Campbell of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 2pm at the Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville, Missouri under the direction of Price Funeral Home. West, James Richley - James Richley West I, of Shell Knob, MO, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 6:30-7:00 pm at Price Funeral Home, 120 E. 1st Street, Maryville, MO. Celebration of life will follow from 7:00 to 7:30 pm.
James “Jim” was born in Dayton, OH on September 21, 1945 the son of James Robert West and Anna Laura (Fella) West, who preceded him in death. He was married on October 29, 1966, to Judith Ann Edwards in Columbus, OH.
He was a man of great honor and served this country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
He began his career in the late 1960s at Columbus Auto Parts, until moving to Missouri in 1986 to accept a position as plant manager of Federal Mogul Corporation in Maryville, MO, where he served the company in that capacity until his retirement in 2009. Throughout his career, he served on and was active in many organizations, including Rotary Club, Airport Board, and the Industrial Development Board.
Jim is survived by his wife, Judy, his 4 children: Gina Ann Barger of Maryville, MO, Wendy Renee Froncek (James) of Springfield, MO, James Richley West II (Leslie) of Kansas City, MO, and Natalie Sue Bettger (Jeff) of Grand Prairie, TX, along with his grandchildren: Brandon Thomas Rollins, Maggie Ann Barger, Hannah Nicole Froncek, Sarah Michelle Froncek, James Richley West III, Christian Ross West, Lydia Ann Bettger, Austin Thomas Bettger, Hagan Alexander West, and Mary Elizabeth Froncek, and his one great-grandchild, Bentley Eugene Rollins.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Kay Glasener of New Carlisle, OH.

Wiederholt, Carmelita Mary Kelmel - Carmelita Mary Wiederholt, 78, of Ravenwood, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019 at her home.

Carmelita was born on April 25, 1941 in Maryville, Missouri to Lester C. and Mary M. (Bailey) Kelmel. She was a 1959 graduate of Horace Mann High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Parnell, St. Ann’s Altar Society, Tri-C American Legion Post Auxiliary and worked as a receptionist for Energizer.

She married Marvin A. Wiederholt on January 4, 1964 in Maryville, Missouri. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Christopher Wiederholt, Conception Junction, Missouri, Regina Wiederholt, Crystal Lake, Illinois, Ronald (Diane) Wiederholt, Ravenwood, Missouri and Eddie (Tiffany) Wiederholt, Ravenwood, Missouri; sister, Izana Beffa, Osage Beach, Missouri; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Terry Kelmel, great-grandson, Korbyn and great-granddaughter, Enzley.

Mrs. Wiederholt has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10AM Wednesday, November 27th at St. Joseph’s Parish in Parnell. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri. Rosary 5pm Tuesday November 26th at St. Joseph’s Parish. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 7PM. Williams, Harvey Jr -

On Wednesday January 22, 2020 Harvey “Bud” Williams Jr. passed away at the age of 94.  He was born on the Williams family homestead in Clark Township, rural Atchison County, Missouri to Harvey Lee and Pearl Marie (Harbison) Williams on September 18th, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his twin sister Margery Katherine (Williams) Goodall of Shenandoah, Iowa.

He graduated from Tarkio High School, and in December 1943, at the age of 18, Harvey enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving his country during WWII on the USS General ET Collins (AP 147). Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, he went into the family trucking and farming business alongside his father, mother and sister.

Harvey married Donna Leigh (Miller) on May 11th, 1947 in St. Joseph, Mo. From this union, four daughters and a son were born. Donna Leigh preceded Harvey in death on August 22nd, 1995.

On January 9th, 2005, Harvey married Betty David.

Harvey is survived by his five children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and Betty David.

Harvey’s wishes were to have a private family ceremony without a public visitation or servic

 

Wilmes, Frances "Fran" Jean Brown - Frances Jean “Fran” Wilmes, 79, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Fran was born on January 22, 1940 in Albany, California to Floyd and Louinda Brown.

Fran began working with her parents at the Brown Shoe Repair. She was a homemaker and was a cashier in the finance department at St. Francis Hospital and was a volunteer at the gift shop. She delivered meals on wheels and enjoyed playing Bridge. She was a member of St. Gregorys Barbarigo Catholic Church where she was very active.

She married Marvin A. Auffert on May 10, 1959. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1984. She was also preceded by her parents. She later married Alfred Wilmes on November 30, 1985 in Parnell, Missouri, He survives of the home. Additional survivors include her children, Bob (Kim) Auffert, Greg (Stephanie) Auffert, Tim (Tonia) Auffert, Rosalee (Terry) Strom, Marvin (Lori) Wilmes, Vince (Joan) Wilmes, David (Kelly) Wilmes, Dean (Tara) Wilmes, Norbert (Tammy) Wilmes, Linda Noble, Nancy Wilmes, Roland (Chantel) Wilmes, Karl (Stephanie) Wilmes; brother, Richard Brown; forty-seven-grandchildren and forty-eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass 10:30am Monday, December 23rd at St. Gregorys Barbarigo Catholic Church under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, Missouri. Rosary 5pm Sunday, December 22nd at St. Gregorys Barbarigo Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 7pm.

Wilson, LaVera Rose Wilmes -

LaVera Rose (Wilmes) Wilson, 95, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, with family at her side.

LaVera was born in Lawrence, NE, on January 2, 1924.  Her parents were Herman Henry and Agnes Catherine (Kohmetscher) Wilmes.  She grew up in the Bedison, MO area, and lived many years in Maryville. 

On February 16, 1953, LaVera was united in marriage to Norris W. “Doc” Wilson, in Harrison, AR; he passed away on November 2, 2013 after 60 years of marriage.

For 15 years LaVera was the head cook at the Maryville High School.  She was a member and attended St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville, and was a former member of the Ladies Guild of the Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Doc; her 6 brothers, Gene, Clyde, Donald, Victor, Vernon, and LeRoy Wilmes; and her 2 sisters, Eileen Linneman, and Lucille Manning.

Her survivors include her children, Jan (Ed) Barber, Urbandale, IA, Linda Mercer, Clearfield, IA, Ron (Elaine) Wilson, Maryville, MO, and Karen (Brian) Clark, Springfield, MO; her brother, Paul (JoAnn) Wilmes, Altus, OK; sister in law, Jean Walker, Ravenwood, MO, her brother in law, Burton (Betty) Wilson, Stanberry, MO, and her former sister in law, Ada Mae Wilmes, Maryville, MO; 10 grandchildren, Kim Victor, Kris Brashear, Keri (Billy) Rietz, Todd (Brenda) Poppa, Tim (Michelle) Poppa, Nathan (Anne) Wilson, Tyler (Anna) Wilson, Katie (Tanner) Walter, Brice Clark, and Bailey Clark; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville, MO.  The burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, also of Maryville. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass at the Church.

Wilson, Robert L. "Bob" - Robert L. “Bob” Wilson, 84, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Oak Pointe of Maryville.

Bob was born on July 7, 1935 in Hopkins, Missouri to the late Orville and Opal (Riley) Wilson.
He was salutatorian of his 1953 class of Hopkins High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. He was a member of Wray Memorial United Methodist Church in Hopkins.

In 1955 he worked for Burlington Railroad in Kansas City. In 1956 he moved to Los Angeles, California. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years until his retirement in 1997.

He is survived by many cousins and friends in Northwest Missouri, California, and Arizona.

Graveside Services and burial 3pm Friday, December 13th under the care of Price Funeral Home at the Hopkins Cemetery in Hopkins, Missouri.
