S. R. Major’s sale at Paris Tuesday went over with a
whoop. The weather was ideal and the crowd immense,
bidders being there from several counties. The sale
amounted to about $4,000. A pair of mare mule colts
sold to Mr. Willis of Centralia for $185 just before
the sale started. Henry Wilt paid $96 for a mare mule
colt and Arthur Yager bought 4 for $70 a piece. A pair
of coming 2 yr sold for $292.50 and a yearling mare
mule colt for $135 to Pete Walker. Johnson Bros.
paid $165 for a coming 2 year old, others for $140 and
$126. Wallace Bybee paid $165 for a pair of
smooth-mouth mules, Baker Bros. a pair for $287.50.
Clyde Wainscott a pair for $192.50, Frank Keeler a
mare mule colt for $92. Nealie Greening bought a pair
of dark gray horses for $265. One hundred fifty sheep
averaged $5 apiece. Col. Major talks of holding a
similar sale once a month.
