Contributed by: G. & L.M Vanwijnsberghe-Hunt My ggrandfather was Larkin Wesley Hunt, he was born at Louisiana, Mo Oct. 18, 1836, the son of Melissa Callaway and Wesley Hunt. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted as a surgeon in the Confederate Army and served with Cap. Dave Craig of Callaway Co., Mo., under the command of Gen. John B. Clark. Dr. Hunt was in the Battle of Moore's Mill, Callaway Co., Mo., on Aug. 28, 1862, and attended the wounded for four days and nights without sleep or rest. On Nov. 4, 1862, he was wounded and relieved of his duties by Gen. Clark.". Following the 1860 census, Larkin lived in Callaway County Mo. in 1860 in Calwood, the site of the Moore's Mill battle. Maybe he took care of the wounded there near his house. I found this information in "Some Kindred of Daniel Boone of St-Charles Co" by Lilian Oliver-Hays, page 185 Does anyone have further information on him? |
