Joseph Haberstroh; born 03 Mar 1843 in Baden, Germany; died 27 Oct 1927; buried in Bethany 
(Bethania) UCC Cemetery, on  6740 St. Charles Rock Road, Wellston, MO (St. Louis County) 
Section S, Lot 17 
 
Enlisted into the Union Army; on Sept. 1 1861, at the St. Louis Arsenal.
Branch:  enlisted with Captain Welfleys Battery Missouri Volunteers, light artillery then transferred 
to 2nd Battery B, 1st Regiment, Mo. Light Artillery.  Mustered out as a corporal on September 30, 
1864.   Service Number:  1042595 
 
On July 8, 1913 in a affidavit to the Commissioner in regards to a request for an increase in his Civil 
War Pension, Joseph Haberstroh declares: I was born in Baden, Germany on March 3, 1843. I 
came to St. Louis, Mo. with my parents in the year of 1848 and have lived here since except for the 
time I was in the Army.
