James Columbus Alexander He is buried in White's cemetery near Richard's MO - Vernon County. He was in the 6th Kansas Cavalry, Co L.  My great great grandfather Thanks - Greg
James W. B. Scott, enlisted at Columbia as a private in Co. A of the 61st Regiment of the Enrolled Missouri Militia on Sept. 22, 1862, at age 23.  The only available Muster Roll shows he was relieved from duty as a corporal April 30, 1864, but does not show where he musted out. James W. B. Scott was born April 27, 1838.  We don't know yet exactly where but it may have been PA or MD.  He died on September 15, 1915, while living with his daughter in OK.  However, he is buried in the Green Mound Cemetery near Harwood, Vernon County, Missouri, along with his wife and two daughters all who predeceased him. Valentine Alexander BOLSER, Buried at Carbon Center Cemetery, Vernon Co. Missouri. B.20 Feb. 1819 D. 18 Nov 1895.  Valentine served as a Private in Company G 76 Illinois Infantry Volunteers.  He enlisted on 6 August
1862 at Urbana, Ill. and was mustered out on 22 July 1865 at Galveston, Texas.  You will note that Valentine was not a young man at his enlistment, being 43, and 46 upon discharge. Two of the battles he participated in were the Seige of Vicksburg and Blakely, Ala.  Valentine has a host of great grandchildren and great great's etc. living in Missouri, Kansas, and many other states. JOHN EDWARD BANKS JAN 15/1843 TO NOV 21/1922 BURIED AT CALLAWAY CEMETERY, NEVADA MISSOURI HE WAS A UNION SOLDIER. HE WAS WITH COMPANY K 11TH REG. INFANTRY, WEST VIRGINIA. HE WAS ENLISTED IN 1861 AND DISCHARGED AFTER THE WAR ENDED. MELISSA MUSICK
Kenneth Monroe, a native of Scotland, fought for the noble South in Jackman's Brigade, CSA, in Louisiana and
was one of the last to surrender at the end of the war.  He and his wife Isabella McArthur Monroe are buried in Deepwood cemetery.  My great great great grandfather, Terri Pendleton Sanday
Herod T. Frasier is a civil war veteran buried in Vernon County at the Bethany Cemetery about 3 miles north of
Walker. He served in the Loudoun Dragoons, Co. A, 6th Virginia Calvary in 1861 and 1862. My great grandfather, Donald Frasier

William B. Hyder Sheldon, Mo. Cemetery born 12/14/1837 died 10/30/1917 4th Regiment of Tenn.Mtd.Infantry Volunteers, in the Army of the United States. Hyder served as a Pilot(scout),to Col.W.B.Stokes, being a native of that part of White County, now Putnam County he knew the terrain.  Hyder helped in the search of and surrender of a confederate Capt., turned renegade, Champ Ferguson.  Furguson later stood trial and was hung in Nashville.  Hyder served from 1st day of January 1862 until 25 August 1865 when he was mustered out and paid off at the rate of $16.00 per month.  He was not given a hero's welcome in Putnam County, being called
a Lincolnite and Home made Yankee, having fear for his family, he moved to Vernon County, Mo., arriving the last day of October 1868. Hand written by Wm. B. Hyder and submitted his great grandson, Thomas Talley
George Henry Norvell (1845 - 1923) and his wife, Mary Norvell (1852 - 1927) are buried in the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, Vernon County, Missouri. George Henry Norvell served in Company C, Shank's Regiment, 2nd Missouri Cavalry, Shelby's Brigade. He was in battles at Independence, Lone Jack, Helena, Springfield, Prairie Grove, Cane Hill, Marshall, Lexington and Carthage.  He enlisted in June 1861, at Jefferson City, in the State Militia  for a year and re-enlisted in 1862.  He was taken  prisoner at Boonville after being wounded at or near Jefferson City while crossing the Osage River.  As a prisoner he was first sent to St. Louis and then to Alton, Illinois.He was released at the close of the war.    William J.
