John Jasper CAMPBELL Buried at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Mountain View,  (1838 - 1882) Served  in the Confederate Army, Co C,8th MO infantry. Private until Aug 4 1862.Last appears on a list of men who were with the Cavalry without authority on 26 Jan 1864, Cap Bragg, ARK.Enlisted in TX Co, MO (see file document from Headquarters MO National Guard.)  Joel Franklin DeBoard  buried at Center Hill Cemetery, south of Mountain View on Highway 17.(1836 - 1919) He was a Private in Co. G, 29th Regiment, IL, Union Army. He enlisted in White County, Illinois on 28 Aug 1861  and was discharged 27 Aug 1864. We have an 1864 segment of the diary that he kept during the war...Submitted by: Janis Walker Gilmore
Bluford A. CROWDER  He is buried at Walker's Chapel Cemetery outside of Mountain View(1825 - 1879) Enlisted for Confederate Service in Giles County, Tennessee. Served in the 11th Cavalry, Co. K, 11thRegiment of the Tennessee Volunteers. Submitted by: Janis Walker Gilmore
 Helton Rutherford WALKER buried at Walker's Chapel Cemetery outside of Mountain View, (1828 - 1901) Enlisted in CSA in Centerville TN on 17 Dec 1861 and was mustered out on 20 Feb 1865. He was in Regiment 48, Tennessee Volunteers, Companies B & G. He was a captain, and was captured by the northern forces in the battle of Fort Donelson, in TN on 16 Feb 1862. A prisoner exchange subsequently returned him to duty. He was the founder of the church.Submitted by: Janis Walker Gilmore
Vernon Monroe Dodson  b. 14 Jan 1838 in Rhea Co., TN d. 15 Dec 1905 in Howell Co. TN  buried in
Bakersfield Cemetery. He enlisted 20 Sep 1861 in Knoxvillle, TN in Co. L, 8th TN Cavalry an is on muster rolls until his capture at McLeans Gap, (Ringold) GA on 10 Apr 1864. As a prisoner of war was sent first to
Nashville, TN, then to Louisville, KY and from there to Camp Morton, IN where he was held as a prisoner unitl he was paroled for exchange at Point Lookout, MD on 15 Mar 1865. Buried with him is his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Dodson (she was a Dodson m. a Dodson) b. 30 July 1845 in Rhea Co., TN d. 24 Oct 1926 in Howell Co., MO

JAMES PATRICK WILEY CUNNINGHAM.  born 22 February 1830, Shelby County, Alabama, diet 27 July 1907, Bakersfield, Howell County, Missouri. He entered the service about the 8th day of December 1863, as a Private in Company F, 1st Regiment of the Alabama Cavalry, commanded by Lt. William Cheney and was honorably discharged at Savanah, Georgis on about the 17th day of December 1864 for expiration of term of service.  My great grandfather Evangeline Cunningham Webster
Thomas Hopkins b-1804 Adair co Ky Bible Son Joseph B Hopkins b- May 11 1835 Mo. was shot and Killed returning home on furlough He owned farm in Howell Co., Mo wife two Children.. He was 500 feet from Ark /Mo border Just East of Mammoth Spring...a fellow soldier went on to His brother John's farm and told of his death Joe's wife Elizabeth "Paliza " and Sister in law Betty went to the Springs and buried him Just East of the Springs.. Isom Walker ( b-May 20,1848 in Ashe Co.,N.C.,d-Nov.20,1925 in Ozark Co.,Mo.) served with the 3rd North Carolina Mounted Infantry,Company G.,from Oct.1,1864 to Aug.8,1865.He is buried in Cureall Cemetery,Howell Co.,Mo.along with his wife Elizabeth Waggoner,bSept.14,1836,d-July 29,1930 My g-Grandfather

The Rev. John Gale Wade Richardson, 80, a well known veteran of the Civil War, minister, farmer, auctioneer, and pioneer resident of West Plains died at his home this morning, Jan 27 1925. He was born in Tennessee on Sept. 22, 1844. Fifty-seven years ago he moved to Melbourne, Ark., where he married Mary Dixon. Following her death 30 years ago he married Mary Ann Ellis, who died 3 years ago. For many years he was associated with the Congregational Methodist Church and was widely known throughout Howell County and adjoining counties. He is survived by two sons and five daughters. Funeral services will be held at the family residence by Rev. J. D. Boles and burial will be at the Lone Pine cemetery, 7 miles northwest of West Plains." Audrey Bennett
