Julius Max Scott,  Buried:  Hildebrand Cemetery, Windyville, Dallas Co MO JAN 9 1837/38 Jefferson Co MO - NOV 3 1925 Dallas Co MO. Julius served from 1861-1865 in the Civil War for the Union Army.  His Civil War service included 6 months in the Osage Home Guards; then Company B 8th MO SM Calvary; then Company K 12th MO Volunteer Calvary (he was a sergeant). Edward Edwin Oursbourn, Private Co.E. 14 Regiment, Missouri State Militia Volunteer Cavalry. Believed buried in Buffalo, Missouri My GG Grandfather  Curtis Acree
John A. Lopeman was a private in Company D of the 129th Volunteer Army (Union) of Illinois.  He served from August 13th, 1862 to June 8th, 1865.  He enrolled at Winchester, Illinois.  He was wounded below the elbow of his left arm about July 1st, 1864 in northern Georgia.  He lived all but the 3 years that he lived in Illinois, at Long Lane, Dallas County and is buried in the Buffalo City Cemetery. David James Morrow; "Corp. Co. G Dallas Co. MO Home Guards 45 days" He died Jun 11, 1882 and is buried in Dallas Co in the Macedonia Cemetery.  My ancestoral grandfather. Cindy Casey
Samuel Ulysses Jones, husband of Rachel Morrow, was part of the 8th Reg't MO Cav Civil War.  He died Jan 1, 1915 in Dallas Co and is buried in the Macedonia Cemetery.   Cindy Casey
Willis Harlan Swift, b. 12 Sep 1844, d. 21 Dec 1933. lived in Dallas County all his life.  Served in Capt. Lemon's Co. C, Dallas County Home Guards, 24 Jun 1861 to 24 Sep 1861. Enlisted in 24th Missouri Infantry, Co. G, at Rolla, MO, on 14 Nov. 1861, mustered into service, 20 Nov, transferred to Co. B, 2 Dec, 1861.  Pvt. Willis was never wounded or in the hospital for illness during the war, although briefly relieved from duty several times about 23 Dec, 1863.  Therefore it is assumed that he fought in every skirmish and battle in which his unit was engaged for the duration of his service.  He was transferred to Co. H, 2 Oct, 1864 and mustered out 28 Nov 1864 in St. Louis.  Willis was Chaplin of the Gen. Frank J. Herron Post, No. 161, of the G.A.R. when it was organized in 1884, and attended G.A.R. reunions in Buffalo in 1904, 1905, and 1906. In occupation he was a farmer, wagonwright, Methodist minister and circuit rider, and Justice of the Peace.  He married Eliza Jane Rakestraw in Buffalo on 25 may 1865. They had seven children, four of whom survived him.  Eliza passed away in 1929 and Willis died at age 89 on 21 Dec, 1933; they are buried together at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, MO. Gary Swift
Benjamin Franklin Dooley. My g.g.grandfather was a Corp. from Dallas Co., enlisted in Rolla Aug. 20, 1861 and died April 26, 1863 in the Ironton Hospital in Ironton.  He is buried in the Ironton Cemetary.  He was a volunteer and was serving with Company B, 24th Missoui Infantry.   His brother,
Francis M. Dooley also served with the 24th and is buried in the Jones-Cannon Cemetary in Washington Township, Dallas Co. I would like to see their names included on your website. Wanda Oliver
Silas Phillips was a member of Company I, 8th Regiment of the Missouri Cavalry. He was severely wounded in his right leg in action near Cache River, Arkansas. He lived near Windyville, MO in Dallas county. He is buried in Scrivner Cemetery.  My great grand father

JAMES RUSSELL ADAMS, born 03/25/1836, at Crossroads in Warren Co., TN. His family is listed in the 1880  MO Dallas Co., Lincoln Township census. He was 44 yrs. old and a farmer. He served in the Union Army. He joined as a Private at St. Louis, MO Co. I.  4th Reg't Mo. State Militia Cav.  He also served in the Co. B  14th Reg't Militia Cav. The enemy took out a lock of his hair, is the only incident recorded. James was honorably discharged at St. Louis, Mo on 2/7/1865. He applied for a pension on 5/18/1912 lhile living in Tribby, OK. He received $30.00 a month until he died 12/30/1915 at Chism, OK. He was 79 yrs. old He is buried in Bagwell Cemetery N. E. of Chism, OK. SUE GILLEY,NOBLE,OK.
William M. Bennett, born Clark County, Illinois, December 14, 1838. Died September 23, 1898, buried at the George Bennett Farm - Bennett Cemetery, 1-1/2 miles south of Buffalo, Missouri.  William fought for the Union, was shot in the stomach with a minnie ball which passed through him.  The wound never healed.  Norman Hall
John Calhoun Bennett, born Clark County, Illinois, December 26, 1842. Died May 1912.  Was in the battles of Pea Ridge, Neosho, Newtonia, Crane Hill and Praire Grove.  First was in the Dallas County Home Guards for 3 months. In 1862 joined the Missouri State Militia Cavalry, Captain Worley's Company of Colonel Richardson's Regiment.  This was consolidated with the 4th Regiment in 1863, Colonel Hall commanding.  He was in Company L.  In the fall of 1864 reenlisted in Company H, 13th Missouri US Cavalry under Colonel Catherwood.
Discharged in May 1866 at Leavenworth, Kansas after fighting Indians in Kansas and Colorado. Norman Hall
Marion Francis Bennett born September 10, 1844 in Clark County, Illinois. Died August 21, 1922.  Buried in cemetery at O'Bannon Praire. First was a private in Captain Eldrige's Cavalry Company G Dallas County
Regiment of the Missouri Home Guards.  Enlisted at age 17 at Buffalo, Missouri June 24, 1861.  Discharged September 24, 1861. Then enlisted in the 6th Regiment Enrolled Missouri Militia August 5, 1863. On muster roll from October 31, 1863 to August 31, 1864.  At this time the unit became part of the Union Army, Company I , 16th Missouri Regiment Volunteer Cavalry.  On muster roll from August 31, 1864 until detached from service at Linn Creek Missouri April 1, 1865. Mustered out July 1, 1865.  Served in the Battles of Westport (Kansas City),
Booneville and Jefferson City.  Was on the way to Wilson's Creek and within sound of the cannon when that battle ended. Thanks, Norman Hall
George Washington Engle, born in Knox Co. KY  6 Aug 1823 lived most of his life in Dallas Co. Mo.   Enrolled 28 Aug 1862 as a Sgt. in Co I, 8th Reg. Mo Cavalry, commanded by Capt. McAdoo.  Died in service 7 Sep 1863. Buried in National Cemetery, Memphis, TN   He left 6 children and his wife Sarah, who received a  veterans widow's pension until her death 5 May 1903.  George W Engle was my g-g-grandfather.
