James W. WOODS

"James W. WOODS, 53, a guard at the state penitentiary in Jefferson City, Mo. was killed March 29, 1906. He was born near Holiday, Monroe county, Mo., in 1853. In 1875 he was married to Miss Anabel CUMLEY, daughter of Hiram CUMLEY, of Monroe county. He had a long and successful career as a police officer.

He leaves a wife, mother and four boys, Edward WOODS, Arthur WOODS, Ray WOODS, and Harve WOODS.

Funeral at C. P. church and interment in Oakwood cemetery with Woodmen taking charge of the services."

Anna Belle (Cumley) WOODS

"Mrs. James W. WOODS, 74, of Kansas City, who formerly lived in Macon died November 25, 1933. She was 74 years old November 18, 1933. She is survived by three sons, Harve WOODS, Arthur WOODS of Kansas City and Ed WOODS of Sturgis, Mich. Three children, a daughter and two sons died when quite young and a son Roy WOODS died 14 years ago.

Her husband died 29 years ago. He was stabbed by a prisoner at state penitentiary.

Besides her children, a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth GARNETT of Albrata, Calif., and two brothers, William CUMLEY of Grandville and Robert CUMLEY of Collinsville also survive.

Funeral in Macon."

Ray WOODS

"Ray WOODS died September 2, 1919 after appendicitis surgery, at the home of his mother, Mrs. James WOODS in Macon. A wife and five year old daughter, Dorothy WOODS, a mother, Mrs. J. W. WOODS, three brothers, Ed WOODS of Sturgis, Michigan, Arthur WOODS of Kansas City and Harve WOODS of Macon survive."

I realize there is a discrepancy about Ray's name - From all records obtained so far - he is Ray not Roy.
