01 Jan 1880 In Memoriam - Mrs. Hattie Patton departed this life of Tuesday, December 
            30th, and was buried yesterday.  A teacher in Public Schools.  She died of 
            consumption.

            Died on Thursday last, a little child of James Wilson.

22 Jan 1880 Mrs. Matilda Howe, wife of J.D. Howe, left last Tuesday night for Bloom-
            field, Missouri to attend the funeral of her mother.

29 Jan 1880 The Drinkard murder case was continued on application of defendant.  
            There were about eighty witnesses in attendance.

            Young King, who shot at his school master for whipping his brother, pled
            guilty and was fined $100 and costs.  He was also fined $25 for carrying a
            concealed weapon.
