Mrs. Elvira Bailey, 79, died 15 April 1905 at her home near Ethel. She is
survived by three sons and two daughters, one daughter being Mrs. W.S. Hawkins
of Clarence, Mo.
Denzil Bailey, 26, died 13 May 1931, at the home of his parents, Mr. And
Mrs. Charley Bailey. He leaves his wife and little son, James Denzil Bailey,
grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Jeff Helton, Mr. And Mrs. Charles Bailey, two
brothers, Dennis Bailey and Freeman Bailey and two sisters, Mrs. Vernie Labon
of Linneus and Mrs. Freda Smoot.
Joseph Bailey, 70, died at his home in Walnut township 28 January 1895. He
was born in Shenendoah County, Virginia and came to Macon County when but
5 years of age where he has resided ever since. He was married in 1843 to
Elvira Lovern and has lived on the same farm since the year of his marriage.
He was buried by the Masonic order of which he had been a member for 40 years.
He leaves a wife, nine children, one brother and one sister.
Mrs. W.F. Bergmann died at her home near Walnut 3 March 1904. Interment in
Bunce Cemetery.
Donce Brammer, of Bevier, Mo. Died at his brother-in-law's, William Lynch
14 February 1901. Burial in the Bunce graveyard.
Daniel Bunce, 74, for many years a citizen of Macon county died at Eldorado
Springs 2 May 1904. He was born in Crawford county, Ohio 22 December 1828.
His mother died when he was but two years old and his father when he was
14. The poor orphan boy was taken under the fatherly care of Ben Sanford.
He soon went to Michigan where by hard work he earned 80 acres of land. Later
he returned to Ohio. On 1 January 1852 he married to Miss Mary Ann Sanford
and in 1859 they returned to Missouri locating in Russel township, Macon
county. He lived five miles northwest of New Cambria until the spring of
1865 when he located in what is now Walnut township where he resided until
1889. His first wife died 20 February 1882 leaving four sons and two daughters.
In the summer of 1881, he married Miss Annie Herrin, to them was born one
son now 18 year of age. In the spring of 1887 he moved to Cedar county, Mo.
And in 1891 to St. Clair county. He left five sons and one daughter. One
daughter having lost her life in a railroad accident 11 December 1883. The
remains were brought to Macon county and buried in Bunce Cemetery.
John Bunce, 76, died 29 March 1929. He leaves his wife, who was formerly,
Miss Nancy Burns, two daughters, Mrs. John Agee of La Crosse and Miss Mary
Bunce at home, three grandchildren, Wilmer, Eleanor, and Norbert Agee, two
brothers of Colorado and one half-brother of Kansas City. Burial in Bunce
cemetery.
James B. Burns, 87, died at his home near Elmer, Mo. 2 October 1923. He was
married in 1858 to Mary Broyles. She died in 1868. To this union four children
were born, Nancy Bunce of Elmer; Nathanie Burns of California; Fannie of
Oklahoma; Walter Burns of Springfield, Mo. In 1871 he was married to Mary
Elwell and to this union there were five children born, Maud Miller of Oklahoma;
Callie Arisman of Macon' Clinton Burns of LaPlata, Mo.; Arthur Burns of Wyoming;
Fred Burns of Elmer survive along with his wife. Interment in Bunce cemetery,
near his old home.
James Ross Burns, 10, son of Fred and Myrtle Burns died 15 March 1922 of
pneumonia. He was born 28 August 1911.
Mrs. Fred Burns, 43, died 5 October 1926 in the Ethel community. She leaves
her husband, two daughters and two sons. She was buried at the Bunce cemetery.
D.T. Gunnels, son of D.W. Gunnels residing south of Elmer, died 21 January
1906. Intement in the family cemetery.
George Hawkins died at his home north of Ethel, Mo. 21 September 1905 of
typhoid fever.
J.S. Hays, 63, died 2 June 1913 at his home in West Eagle community of heart
failure. He leaves a wife, four sons, and one daughter, Mrs. D.J. Lamberson
and Chas. Hays of Macon, J.E. Hays of North Macon, M.E. Hays of Springfield
and Wm. Hays of Hannibal. Interment in the Bunce cemetery near Elmer, Mo.
Mrs. Sarah M. Kessinger, 37, died at her home in Ethel, Mo. 24 May 1897.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Elvira Bailey and was born 24 March 1861.
She married Jas. S. Kessinger 24 September 1867. She lived in this vicinity
until 1874 when they went to Queen City, Schuyler county, Mo., where they
lived sixteen years. Two years ago they returned to Macon county settling
in Ethel where they have since lived. Funeral in Ethel church with burial
in Bunce cemetery.
Lewis A. Keyte died at his home in Kirksville, Mo. 29 August 1907. He had
been a resident of West Walnut township until about six years ago. Interment
in Bunce cemetery.
Mrs. Katie Kiser died 6 August 1904 at her home near Callao, Mo. From
consumption. She leaves three children, two boys John Kiser and Robert Kiser
and one daughter Amanda Kiser. Interment in Bunce cemetery.
Joseph Lovern, 69, died 17 April 1904. He was born 10 April 1835 in Virginia
and came to Missouri in 1859. He was a veteran of the Civil War. He leaves
a wife and seven children, four sons and three daughters. Interment in the
Bunce cemetery, beside a daughter who was buried there two weeks ago.
Mrs. Lerma Lynch, 62, of Walnut township, Macon county, Missouri died 31
August 1886 of cardiac dropsy. She was born in Kentucky but had been a resident
of Missouri for fifty years. She was a widow. Interment in Bunce cemetery.
Mrs. Wm. Lynch of West Walnut township died 11 February 1901. Mary Ellen
Campbell was born 25 October 1847, was married to Wm. Lynch 13 January 1867.
She was a member of the Baptist church and had been an invalid for the last
thirty years. She leaves a husband, four sons and one daughter, one brother,
and one sister. Interment at Bunce cemetery.
Nona B. Lynch, 23 month old daughter of Lena and Alta Lynch died 15 March
1898. Burial in the Bunce graveyard.
Theodore Moore, 77, died 26 October 1932 at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Al Tate, east of Bevier. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Tate, Mrs. Emma
Mosley, Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and Mrs. Mellie Majors of Lead City,
South Dakota, and two sons Luther Moore and Claude Moore, both of Hot Springs,
South Dakota. His wife died a number of years ago. Burial in Bunce cemetery,
near Elmer.
John Mott, 39, was found dead on the Burlington railroad track west of Bucklin
17 June 1910. He had lived in Elmer for a number of years and was an employee
of Santa Fe. He leaves a wife, Edna and little son, Carl, besides his parents,
Dick and Mary Mott of Nind and a brother, William Mott and sisters, Ada Walker,
Mola Lynch, Susie Pyles. Interment in Bunce cemetery.
William Mott died 3 July 1933. He leaves his wife Forrest of Elmer, and Edwin
at home; five daughters, Mrs. Vilia Mozer of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Welthia
Canterberry of Forrest City, Ark.; and Mrs Juanita Wood of Elmer.
Mrs. Robert Wakely, 83, died 16 July 1925 at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Delila Willet of Elmer, Mo. Survivors include her husband, five daughters,
Mrs. Pleasant Abner of Elmer; Mrs. Delores Wilcoz of Macon; Mrs. Edna Prikett
of Adrain; Mrs. Hallie Reynolds of Barnard, South Dakota; Blanche Wakley
of Allendale, North Dakota; and Delila Willet of Goldsberry, Mo. Burial at
Bunce cemetery.
