OBITUARIES

Estella Moncrief -- Estella M. Moncrief, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett O. Barry, was born November 11, 1911 at La Plata, Missori and died January 16, 1945 at Mt. Vernon, Missouri after a lingering illness. She was married October 11, 1929 to Johnnie Moncrief. To this union were born two daughters, Mary Mae and Ruby Fern, of the home. Besides her husband and daughters, she is survived by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, Clarence Barry of La Plata, Claude R. Barry of Cario, Missouri, Zella of La Plata and Ethel M. Barry of Kansas City, Missouri. She has been a member of the La Plata Baptist Church since girlhood. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Claude Thompson at the La Plata Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 2:00. Interment will be in the La Plata Cemetery. La Plata Home Press, January 18, 1945

James Moody, 79, died at his home in East St. Louis, Ill. 27 September 1927. He was born in Vienna, Macon Co., Mo. He leaves his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Prudence Boyd and three brothers, W.A. Moody of East St. Louis, Stephen D. Moody and Nick Moody of Macon.

Macon Republican Newspaper -- D. A. Moore, 19, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Matkins, west of Macon 5 Feb 1900 from consumption. Interment in Bevier, Mo.

Robert Lee Moore -- Robert L. Moore, well known Haswell farmer, passed away at his home southwest of town at one o'clock Wednesday morning. Mr. Moore has been in poor health for the past three years and his death was not unexpected.

Robert Lee Moore was born at Macon City, MO 30 Sept 1866 and died at his home near Haswell, CO 14 March 1928 at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 16 days. Mr. Moore had been a sufferer from tuberculosis for a number of years. Twelve years ago, he with his family, filed on the homestead eleven miles southwest of Haswell where he has lived ever since. Mr. & Mrs. Moore celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on the 21st day of last August. Thirteen children were born to them. Eight children, six girls and two boys and his wife Minnie survive him. The oldest child Mrs. Lena Sackett lives at Pittsburg, KS. Five of their children Shirley and Willie Moore, Helen Moore, Mrs. Katie Lockhart and Mrs. Jennie Lockhart all live at Fort Lyon, Mary and Wilma Moore the two youngest, live at home. Funeral services will be held in Las Animas at 2:00 p.m. Thursday with Rev. R. I. Webster in charge. Interment will be made in the Las Animas (Colorado) Cemetery.

Mr. Amos Morris died 2 September 1887, aged 80 years, 2 months and 25 days. He was born in Barren County, Kentucky. In 1837 he was married to Icy Crabtree, who died four years ago. They raised a family of 13 children, (nine living at present). He moved to Illinois in 1828 where he resided 13 years. He made the shingles that was put on the first house that was ever built in Jacksonville, Ill. He moved to Macon County in 1841, where he resided until 1873, moving then to Cass County, Mo., residing there until 1881. In 1881 he moved back to Macon County where he resided until his death.

Ben Morris Dies Passed Away This Morning at Home of Daughter, Mrs. Guy Norton Ben Morris passed away this morning at 10:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Guy Norton, near Axtel. Mrs. George Carey of this city and Ben Norton are grandchildren of Mr. Morris. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Mary Elizabeth Morris was born at Bevier, Macon County, Mo., January 10, 1863. She was united in marriage to Lan A. Morris in the year 1888. To this union nine children were born, of whom only four are living. She passed away from this life at the Butler hospital February 8, 1934, at the age of 71 years and 29 days. Her husband preceded her in death by 8 months and 21 days. She leaves one brother, Dan Moore of Chicago, three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Lewis of Independence, Mrs. Russie Huddleston of Sedalia, and Mrs. Tamer Grass, of Rockville, MO., and one son, Tobe Morris, of Monegaw, twelve grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Mary E. Morrison*, 59, wife of Ben T. Morrison* died at her home near Bloomignton January 20, 1918. She was born in Liberty Township September 5, 1858. Funeral at Union Church near Bloomington and interment in the cemetery there.

Mrs. G.W. Newkirk died 13 April 1928. She was only a little past thirty-two years of age. She leaves a husband, and five children. The oldest child is eleven, the youngest little Miss Bertha Raverne Newkirk, only three weeks and one day old.

Joseph Oliver, 39, died 10 Nov 1908 in Mohall, N. Dakota. He was born at Macon, MO 24 Nov 1868. His father died when he was three years old. On 5 Sept 1897 he was married to Maggie Fulmer. To this union one child was born, a little boy ten years old , who with his mother survive, together with two sisters and two brothers, one brother being permitted to minister at his bedside. Five years ago he and his family moved to N. Dakota where he died.

Rev. Joseph Oliver, 75, died 4 Aug 1877. He was born in Clark Co, Ky. in 1804, emigrated to Mo. in 1825 and was ordained a preacher of the Missionary Baptist Church in the year 1829. He was buried by the Masons at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

Leroy Oliver died at Ten Mile 21 Aug 1886. He was the only child of Edward and Ida E. Oliver, aged 14 months.

John Larkin Peaslee, 34, died at his home in Macon 20 April 1928. He was born in Brainerd, Minn. 18 February 1894. He is survived by his wife and two children, Kenneth Peaslee, aged six, and Leila Peaslee, aged five, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Peaslee of Brainerd, two brothers, Owen Peaslee of Brainerd and Ed. Peaslee of Euclaire, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. William Sims of Brainerd and Mrs. V.A. Witte of Detroit, Mich. Funeral at the Home for Funerals in Macon.

Miss Sarah Pollard, 81, died 16 May 1926 at her home in Macon. She was born in Port Hole, Canada. She was about 20 years old when she came to Missouri with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip A. Pollard. She is survived by four nieces, two of whom, Mrs. P.A. McQuire of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Lulu Sandy of near Kansas City and a grand-niece, Mrs. Essid Smith. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.

Ada V. Ralston -- Ada V. Ralston, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Carter Magers was born June 16, 1884 in Adair County, MO and passed away in Macon, January 17, 1967 at the age of 82 years and 7 months. She was married to Willie Bragg, March 21, 1906. After his death she was married to Elbert Ralston December 9, 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Elvin Bragg, her parents and one sister. Survivors are three step-daughters, Mrs. Etta Hazen of Hammond, IN; Mrs. Ralph (Ruby) Moore of Moorehead, MN; Mrs. George (Alice) Begole of La Plata; one step-son, Manford Ralston of Marshall, MI; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and twelve step great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ralston was a member of the La Plata Baptist Church. Services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home in La Plata, Friday, January 20, 1967 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Edward Saunders of La Plata was the minister. Burial is in the La Plata Cemetery. La Plata Home Press, January 26, 1967

Mrs. Martha M. Rutledge died 22 Sept 1927 at her home in Macon. She was the daughter of Daniel and Martha Malkin was born in Tennessee 4 September 1839. She was married to Wiley Rutledge in August 1857 and to this union seven children were born, three daughters having died some years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Eda Rutledge, Macon; Mrs. Annie Pharris, Licking, MO and two sons, John Rutledge of Kirksville, MO and Arthur Rutledge of Moberly, MO. Two brothers, William Malkin of Macon and Leroy Malkin of Bevier and one sister, Mrs. Amanda Simons of Macon also survive.

Wylie Rutledge died in February 1888. He lived in Round Grove Township.
