Will of Andrew Downing
Transcribed from Lincoln County, MO Will Book 3, page 229 and provided by Laurie Downing Wilcox, 2001 .


The last will and testament of Andrew DOWNING of the State of Missouri and
County of Lincoln. I Andrew DOWNING considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my
last will and testament in manor and form following, that is to say

I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Obedience DOWNING all my lands
situated and lying in the State and County aforesaid, together with all my
other estate whatsoever to hold so long as the said Obedience DOWNING
remains my widow, but so soon as the said Obedience DOWNING marries if such
the case may be she the said Obedience DOWNING is to have a childs part, and
lastly as to all the rest and remainder of my personal estate goods and
chattels of what kinds and nature soever I give and bequeath the same to my
wife Obedience DOWNING whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this my last
will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness
whenof [sic] I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the eighth January in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet was now here subscribed by
Andrew DOWNING the testator in the prescence of each of us and was at the
same time declared by him to be his last will and testament and we at his
request sign our names as attesting witness.
