Irene Ann LANGFORD, 89, of Moscow Mills died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy.

She was born Jan. 10, 1907, in Moscow Mills, the daughter of William and Emma STEINMESCH DEPPING. She married A.C. LANGFORD on Dec. 7, 1958.

Mrs. LANGSFORD was a school teacher in Warren, Lincoln, and St. Louis counties. She taught elementary school in the Wright City R-2 School District for several years. She also assisted her father and her brother, the late Wesley "Pete" DEPPING, in the operation of the family’s general store in Moscow Mills.

Mrs. LANGFORD and her sister, Mildred DEPPING, restored the Shapley Ross Home in Moscow Mills. They were awarded the Lincoln County Historical Society Preservation Award for their work on the house, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

She is survived by one sister, Mildred DEPPING, of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Hazel SCHMIDT; and two brothers, Wesley and Henry DEPPING.

Services were held Jan. 4 at the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Eugene Rahmier officiating. Interment was in Friedens-Anderson Hill Cemetery in Moscow Mills.

Memorial donations may be made to the Moscow Mills Friedens United Church of Christ Building Fund.
