To the Home-Folks.

New York, N. Y.
January 15, 1919.

Dear Home Folks,

Will now write you a few lines. I am all O.K. and hope you are all the same. It was a mistake about me being wounded. I was hurt on the night of the 11th of Sept., we were going up the lines, a truck ran over my foot and mashed it up a little and hurt my hip, but I am all right now. I suppose you read about the St. Mihiel drive that’s where we were headed for. Believe me, the Americans put over a barrage: the sky was light for miles and it sounded like the world was coming to an end. My company never saw much service as were in reserve most all the time. They didn’t fire over a dozen short from the big guns. There was only one casualty, the fellow that worked on the gun with me was killed. I haven’t been with my company since September. I was in Paris six weeks and was over most all the city. It sure is some city. Was in Tours, France, a month, at the prison camp chasing German prisoners. We came across on the George Washington; were eight days coming over; we had a fine trip. Was in Brest when the President came in. I don’t know how long I will be here as they are sending them out every day. It may be a couple of months before I get out of service as they seems to be in no hurry. I wrote home several times since I have been in the hospital The last letter I received from home was in September. They sure are treating us fine in New York. We have a chance every day to go out for dinner and shows. I have been around the city some.

Well, this is all this time, as ever,

1 Class Private Edgar Crumbe, 110 T. M. B., 35th Div.
