Indenture - Lewis G. Martin and wife Alice to Thomas G. Martin
For Sum of $50

Property Description:  the East Fourth of the North Half of the NorthEast Quarter of Section 27, Twp. 50, Range 1 East, forty acres.

This indenture made and entered into this 20th Day of July AD one thousand eight hundred and forty six between Lewis G. Martin and Alice his wife of Lincoln County and State of Missouri of one part and Thomas G. Martin of the same County and State of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Lewis G. Martin and Alice his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Dollars in hand paid the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained and sold unto the said Thomas G. Martin a certain tract or parcel of land lying inside the County of Lincoln it being the east fourth of the north half of the north east quarter of section twenty seven in Township No 50 of Range No 1 East containing forty acres. To have and to hold the said above described land with all its appertainances thereunto belonging to him the said Thomas G. Martin and his heirs forever and we the said Lewis Graves Martin and Alice my wife for ourselves our heirs or assigns we do covenant with the said Thomas G. Martin his heirs (re?) to warrant and defend the title of said land against the claims of ourselves our heirs and all persons claiming through or in any wise under us unto him the said Thomas G. Martin his heirs forever. In February whereof the said Lewis G. Martin and Alice his wife hereunto set our hands and seals this day and year first above written this 20th day of July AD 1846.

The condition of the above indenture is such that if the said Lewis G. Martin shall pay to the said Thomas G. Martin the above sum of fifty dollars on or before the 29th day of November next then the indenture to be void otherwise remain in full force and virtue. This 20th day of July AD 1846.

State of Missouri County of Lincoln:

Be it remembered that on the 20th day of July in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty six before me John Reid a Justice of the Peace within and for the county aforesaid personally came Lewis G. Martin and Alice his wife both personally known to me to be the persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as having executed the same and severally acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. She the said Alice being by me first made acquainted with the contents thereof and examined separate and apart from her husband acknowledged and declared that she executed the within deed and relinquishes her dower to the lands and tenements therein mentioned voluntarily and freely without compulsion or undue influence of her said husband. Taken as certified the day and year aforesaid.
