Power of Attorney, Estate of John Jameson, to Allen Jameson (1820)

Know all men by these presents that I, John Jameson of Montgomery County, Missouri Territory, have made, constituted, and appointed, and by these presents, do make, constitute, and appoint, Allen Jameson of the county of Lincoln, my true and lawfull attorney for me, and in my name, to do and transact all such things as maybe necessary in the management of the Estate of John Jameson Senr. deceased to procure administration of said estate, and for me, and in my name, and for my use and benefit, to ask, demand, sue for, recover and receive of, and from James Snowden living in the county of St. Louis in the aforesaid Territory my proportion of the value of a negro woman slave named Ziphe, together with her children, and which said slave & slaves did belong to the estate of said John Jameson Senr. Deceased, and had never been sold. And for me, and in my name, to make, seal & deliver, and to do all lawfull acts and things fully & in every respect as I myself might or could do were I personally present, and attornies, one or more under him for the purposes aforesaid to make & at his pleasure to revoke, ratifying & confirming and by these presents allowing whatsoever my said attorney shall in my name lawfully do, or cause to be done in, and about the premises, by virtue of these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal at Troy this 3rd day of March 1820.

County of Lincoln } Be it remembered that on this third day of March, one thousand, Eight hundred & twenty, personally appeared before me, John Ruland, clerk of the Circuit court for the county aforesaid, John Jameson who acknowledged to have signed & sealed the within & foregoing power of attorney to Allen Jameson for the purposes therein contained.

Given under my hand & seal of office at Troy this 3rd day of March 1820 and of the Independence of the United States the forty fourth year.
