Original Purchase Property Description:  NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 - the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 & the W 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of Sec. 17, Twp 49, Rng 2E in the District of Lands Subject to Sale at Palmyra, Missouri, containing 170 acres.

This Deed Property Description:  NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 & the NW ___ of the NE 1/4 and the NE 1/2 of the W_ 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of Sec. 17, Twp 49, Rng 2E containing 130 acres.

TRANSCRIBER'S NOTE:  This deed was extremely faded and very difficult to read, resulting in some undecipherable portions.


To all to whose their presents shall come I John K, KNOX sheriff of the County of Lincoln State of Missouri send greeting. Whereas the 23 day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and Sixty four a judgment was rendered in the Circuit Court of the County of Lincoln in favor of Edwin HASTINGS against Richard C. DORSEY for the sum of seven hundred and fifty nine and 88/100 dollars for debt and = damages and Eight and 85/100 dollars for costs upon which judgment = a special ?Writ of furs facies? issued from the Clerks of said court in favor of said Edwin HASTINGS against the said Richard C. DORSEY dated the 22 day of February 1865 directed to the sheriff of the County of Lincoln and the same was to me delivered on the 22 day of February 1865 = ordering the said sheriff to sell = all the right title interest and estate of said Richard C. DORSEY of in and to the following described real estate situate in my said Court to wit 
The NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 and the NW __ of the NE quarter and the NE 1/2 of the W? half of the NW quarter of Sec No 17 Township 49N Range 2E containing 130 acres and having previously to the day of sale living (after  mentioned _____ at ___ ___ ___ days notice of the time and place of sale and of the real estate to be sold and where ______ the law directs by __ ______ in the Troy Gazette a newspaper published in Troy in said County by virtue of which said written notice I did on the 22 day of March 1865 between the hours of nine in the fore noon and five in the afternoon _____ day agreeably to said notice at the Court House door in my said County of Lincoln ____ ____ the session of the Circuit Court of my said County at the March time ______ for the year One thousand Eight hundred and sixty five ____ ____ it ____ auction, for ready money all the right title interest in ____ of the said ____ Richard C. DORSEY of in and to the foregoing described Real Estate and Edwin HASTINGS being the highest and last bidder for said real estate ____ for the sum of Two Hundred and fifty dollars the same ___ ___ ___ ___ the said Edwin HASTINGS for that ______.  Now therefore in consideration of the ______ of the said sum Two hundred and fifty dollars to me the said sheriff ____ hand ____ the said Edwin HASTINGS the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and ___ ______ of the authority in me vested by said John K. KNOX sheriff ___ ____ ____ assign transfer and convey to the said Edwin HASTINGS all the right title interest and estate of the said Richard C. DORSEY of ____ to the ____ _____ _____ _____ property that I might sell as sheriff as aforesaid by virtue of the aforesaid ___ ____ ______
To have and to hold the right title interest and estate hereby conveyed unto the Edwin HASTINGS his heirs and assigns forever with all the rights and appurtances therein belonging.  ______ ______ Whereof I John K. KNOX Sheriff of the County of Lincoln ____ thereunto set my hand and affix my seal this the 24 day of March One thousand Eight hundred and Sixty five.

County of Lincoln }  SS  Be it remembered that on the 24 day of March 1865 herewith appeared in open court before the judge of the Circuit Court of the said Court of Lincoln John K. KNOX sheriff of said county who is herewith known to said judge to be the person whose name is subscribed to the foregoing deed as having executed and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes herein contained which said acknowledgement is entered on the records of that date.
