Obituary for John T. Wombles (1853-1918)
No. 150 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

John Thomas, son of Henry and Catherine WOMBLES, was born Sept. 14, 1853, and died Nov. 4, 1918, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Eva JANES, after a lingering illness.

He was an honest and upright man and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, Lenora WOMBLES, and one daughter, Dessie Dewelius; four sisters, namely, Mrs. Philip COLBERT, Mrs. Delia HUBBARD, Mrs. Eva JANES, Mrs. Cora CANNON; two brothers Mathias Henry and Charles.

His funeral was preached Nov. 5 by Rev. MCMULLEN at Sulphur Lick cemetery to a large concourse of friends and relatives, after which his body was tenderly laid to rest to await the resurrection. Peace be to his ashes.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
