Obituary for Emma Riemeier (1865-1914)
No. 124 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Mrs. Emma RIEMEIER, nee COCHRAN, beloved wife of George W. RIEMEIER, and devoted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. COCHRAN, was born in Lincoln county, Missouri, on December 11th, 1865. In the family home she grew up into womanhood. On the 17th day of June, 1881, she was married to her now distressed husband, George RIEMEIER, by Elder D.M. GRANDFIELD and has ever since made her home in Foristell, Mo., where she was loved and highly esteemed by all who made her acquaintance. She united with the Christian Church in Foristell, November 23rd, 1893, and has always lived a true and simple Christian life, devoted to her home duties and being [sic] her afflictions with Christian fortitude. When it became imperative to seek surgical aid in her late ailment, she consented to go to the Baptist hospital in St. Louis, where she was operated on for the second time, Monday, June 8th. She died in the institution the following Wednesday, June 10th, aged 48 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Beside her husband and daughter, who has only too soon lost the counsel and guiding care of a mother, and the aged parents, there remains to mourn her departure two brothers and three sisters: Vernie, wife of James RICHARDS; Oma; Henry COCHRAN of Windsor; Charles COCHRAN of St. Louis and Lannie, wife of D.A. LANIER of Moscow Mills.

Mrs. RIEMEIER is the first of the six children of the COCHRAN family departing this life. Both of her parents are near or past the "four score years." The circle is now broken, but only to be again united in the better beyond, where we hope to meet all our dear ones, who have gone before. May this dispensation of Divine Providence prove a blessing in a spiritual way to the husband and daughter, to the parents, sisters and brothers, and to all of us, teaching us to seek after things celestial. Our time is limited may it prove to be a period of probation, in which we seek our soul's salvation by faith in Christ Jesus.

--A Friend.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
