Obituary for Joseph Waddie Heady (1863-1912)
No. 059 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

We are again called on to chronicle the death of an old neighbor and friend, Joseph
Waddie HEADY, who departed from this life at his late residence in Troy last Saturday, October 9, 1912, at the age of about 49 years. Mr. HEADY had just recently moved to Troy from his farm near Sugar Grove where he and his family
had resided for many years; in fact, Mr. HEADY was a native of Clark Township and spent his entire life there with the exception of the short time he lived in Troy. He had been under the doctor's care for several years, but up to a week before his death was able to be up and around among his friends. He was a good citizen, honest and upright to the letter, and we all can truly say with one accord, a good man has gone to his reward. Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, one son, a brother and
a sister to mourn his untimely demise. The funeral which was one of the largest held in Troy took place Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home, conducted by Rev. Charles LYNCH. The remains were interred in the city cemetery. Our sympathy is extended the bereft family. --J.B.BROWN

On Nov. 8th, 1912, the angel of death came into our home and claimed the soul of our dear husband and father.  All that loving and tender hands of loved ones, friends and physicians could do was done during the sad affliction of over eleven years. All through these years of this affliction he never thought it unjust, bore them with fortitude and patience; always cheerful and hopeful until within the last six weeks of his death, when he hastily arranged his business and himself for his going away, from whence these is no returning. Not grievously but indirectly, he often spoke of death and assured us he was ready and willing to go, as he realized death alone was his
relief. In this we have lost such a dear good papa; but Heaven is his home, where affliction, sorrow and death never come. It was God's will that he should thus suffer and die and we must not rebel. "God's will! He speaks! We must be still!" He loved his home, his family and his friends. Honest, upright in all dealing and truly can it be said, "He had clean hands and a pure heart."

Josephy W. HEADY was born April 5th 1863, spent most of his life on his birthplace. He was married to S___ G. NALLEY, Nov. 5th 1885. To this union God gave six children; all are living, except an infant son. He also leaves one brother and sister and three grand-daughters to mourn his departure.

Dear one, your vacant chair at the table stands in self same place,
While from the one in the family room, we miss thy pleasant face;
And your dear old chair on the porch is there;
With memories of the past.
All those we'll love, cherish and keep 'til at last,
With the blest, on Jesus breast we all shall fall asleep. --S.G.H.
