Obituary for Prudence Bradley (1930-1910)
No. 010 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Mrs. Prudence BRADLEY, mother of Oscar D. BRADLEY of Troy, died at her home in Elsberry Sunday morning, after an illness of about 24 hours, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 28 days. Mrs. BRADLEY had been a sufferer from asthma for many years, but was only taken critically ill Saturday and died Sunday morning. She was the wife of Augustine BRADLEY, who preceded her to the grave four years ago, and was born near Auburn July 14, 1830. Her entire life, with the exception of two years' residence in Pike county, was spent in the Elsberry neighborhood. Mr. BRADLEY went to Elsberry Saturday evening to visit his mother, not knowing that she was sick. While he found her critically ill she was conscious to the last and readily recognized him. She leaves five children, Mrs. Jas. A. BRADLEY of Wichita Falls, Tex.; J.C. BRADLEY of Pomona, Cal., Mrs. B.F. GREEN and O.W. BRADLEY of Elsberry and Oscar D. BRADLEY of Troy. Besides the above she leaves 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist church at Elsberry, conducted by Rev. W.H. RICHESON and the remains interred in the Elsberry cemetey.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
