Yearly Events & Activities

MAY

Memorial Day.  Memorial day services are held at many area churches and cemeteries.  Other activities may also be held during this holiday weekend.  Known events and activities are posted above.

SUMMER

Carnival.  Held in Elsberry at the American Legion.

(QUESTION:  Is this the same thing as the annual picnic in Elsberry?)

Annual Picnic in Elsberry.  The annual picnic in Elsberry may be known as the "Homecoming Picnic" or "The Elsberry Picnic" and was (is?) run by the American Legion at its grounds on Highway 79.

AUGUST

Old Threshers Meet.   The "Old Threshers Meet" was (is?) held by the Lincoln County Old Threshers Association, historically in August. It was a multi-day event with attendance in the thousands and included display of old steam-powered threshing machines along with antique cars and other items. Sounds like a big event.  For more information:

Lincoln County Old Threshers
2747 Highway B, Elsberry, MO 63343-3133
Phone: (573) 898-5190

This event had its origins in what appears to have once been a community-wide family reunion. It may have been called something like an "Annual Picnic", was a multi-day event, and people came from all over the county and even out-of-town to visit and stay with relatives and friends. It is now a typical carnival with rides, games, etc.

OCTOBER

Fall Festival.  Held in Elsberry.
(NOTE:  We could use more information about this event.)
