How do you make a library float?

Get a million gallons of root beer, two scoops of ice cream, and add one library!

Our groups this year are as follows: Toddlers to 4 year olds, Kindergarten to First Grade, Second to Third Grade, and Fourth to Sixth Grade.

We will have a registration form to fill out this year. Each child will start off with 2 Laugh Meter Report forms. They may come and get more from the Librarians. Each child that reads and fills out 18 forms will receive a book. Everyone will get something for reading.

This year we are setting goals for each age group. The goal for Toddlers to First Grade is to read a book about a dog at their reading level. The Second to Sixth Grade goal is to read one Hank the Cowdog book. We hope that these goals will get families involved with their children. These are easy goals to reach and each child that finishes the goal will get something.

We will have a container to put doggie treats in for each book a child finishes. This container will go to the Grundy County Animal Shelter for their animals. We have partnered with them to do some presentations for us and this is one way to thank them.

We encourage you to come and enjoy some laughs at the library!

What do you get when you cross a barber with a librarian?

    Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library Services

  • Internet

In response to advances in technology and the changing needs of the community, the library offers access to the Internet via MoreNet. Patrons must have a Grundy County library card and sign an Internet agreement. There is a guest card for a one time use only situation. Children under the age of 14 must have a parent or guardian's written approval and if 10 or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Interlibrary Loan

The library endeavors to purchase a wide range of material. However due to space and budget restrictions, it is impossible to purchase everything. If the book, magazine article or microfilm needed is not available locally, the library will attempt to borrow the item from another library. Patrons must have a Grundy County library card and complete an interlibrary loan form. There is a $2.00 shipping charge per item.

  • Faxing

The library does have a fax machine available for public use. Faxes sent or received are $1.00 per page. If receiving a fax at the library, the name and telephone number of person receiving fax must be included in order to be notified.

  • Equipment Loans

Patrons may borrow slide projectors, overhead projectors and projection screens. A Grundy County library card is required to check out these items for use. It is recommended that advanced reservations be made for all equipment. Computers, microfilm and microfiche readers, opaque projector and an Ellis die cutter are available for use in the library.

  • Hoover Theater

There is a small theater available on the third floor. The theater seats approximately 135 people and can be booked for meetings, plays and other community activities. Advance bookings must be made by contacting the library. A maintenance fee is charged for each use.

  • Meeting Room

The Board Room is available for meetings at no charge to groups of 20 or less if held during library hours. Please call the library to reserve a time.
