Arch Blankenship has moved into one of T.P. Welsh's housed in the western part of town.

F.C. Wilson has bought the interest of his partner, C.E. Hovey, and will continue in the drug business in the Stanley building on the north side of the square.

W.B. Davis is building a new residence two miles north of town.

Arch Blankenship has bought a lot in the northeast part of town from C.S. Finley.

Mr. Sandusky, a new resident of the county, died at his home five miles south of town, last Thursday.

Prairie View

Pete Coble, of Charity, was in this neighborhood last week hunting cattle and succeeded in finding two.

Gabe Johnson returned to Springfield last week accompanied by his brother Stonewall.

Rev. W.E. Hoover, Ben Hembree and S.J. Garrison have returned from White River and report that Bald Knobbers are very numerous in that section.

Joe Bone was asked where he spent Christmas, and refused on the grounds that his wife didn't want him to tell.

Levi Sandusky, who purchased the Thomas Gammen farm recently, died last week of cancer on the neck.

Urbana

Dr. W. D. Leekie, who lived in the northeast part of the county, died very suddenly on Saturday morning last week.

Curtice Montgomery and Miss Augusta Depow were married on December 25th, at the residence of the brides parents.

Obituary

Mrs. Lydia A. Ball died at the residence of her husband John Ball, in this city last Sunday evening, aged 69 years. Ten years ago she moved from Kansas to Dallas county, and had resided here ever since. She leaves a husband and one daughter, Mrs. S.S. Lundy Her funeral took place at the Presbyterian church and she was buried in the Buffalo Cemetery.

E.L. Bentley left this week for Michigan on a visit to relatives and friends.

The dwelling house of J.C. Wall near Tilden, was destroyed by fire last week.

The 13 year old son of Robt. Smith living in Jackson township died last evening of dropsy.

The 12 year old daughter of John Davis, of Jasper township, died the 20th instant of congestive chill.

A.J. Tibbs and wife left Saturday for Ft. Scott where they will make their home.

Obituary

Died at Pattersonville, April 15th, 1888, Mrs. Lizzie Paxton. She has been declining in health almost a year until last Sunday ... she died at 2 o'clock in the morning. She was 16 years old on the 27th of February and was married March 13th, 1887. Her maiden name was Lizzie Evans. She was mostly raised by Franklin & Caroline Stevers, her mother's sister. Her parents are both dead, she leaves one brother, her husband and a 3 month old baby.
