ZINN, Catherine Prather (1816-1896)

Died - In this city, Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at the residence of William Zinn, Mrs. Catherine Zinn, aged 80 years. "'Grandma" Zinn was born in Kentucky January 1, 1816. She was left a widow about 11 years ago. She moved from Kentucky to Missouri in 1853, where she lived until about one year ago, when she came to visit her sons and daughters who live at this place, some at Elk City and Longton and one son in the Territory; also her nephew, Wm. Martin, who lives on Cheyenne, northeast of town. The remains were shipped yesterday to Butler, Bates county, Mo., for interrment. Her sons, John and George Zinn, and her son-in-law, Samuel Ruble, of Elk City, accompanied the remains to their last resting place.

Katie Zinn-Aunt Katie Zinn died at the home of her son, William Zinn, Indian Territory, on Thursday. The remains were brought home Friday and laid to rest in the Howell graveyard.

ZINN, Frances S. (1857 - 1942)

Life of Mrs. Zinn - Francis Saloma Hare, daughter of P. S. and Susannah Hare, was born in Ross County Ohio June 7, 1857, and departed this life July 17, 1942, having reached the age of 85 years 1 month and 10 days. At the age of 7 years she came to Missouri with her parents and made their home on the state line west of Amoret. She was united in marriage to George W. Zinn. To this union was born twelve children, six of whom preceded her in death. Her husband also preceded her in death. She leaves the following children to mourn the loss of a loving mother; John P. Zinn, Milford, Mo.; Abe Zinn, Olathe, Kan.; Albert Zinn, Foster, Mo.; Susie Bolling, Adrian, Mo.; Alma Norman, Amoret, Mo.; Gladys Jackson, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Also one stepdaughter, Artie B. Noah, and a stepson, James Zinn, both of Sapulpa, Ok. She had forty-six grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and fourteen step grandchildren. She has one sister, Mrs. T. P. Reece of Ontario, Calif., and one brother, J. B. Hare of Deer Lodge, Mont. She was united with the Primitive Baptist church at an early age and remained faithful to her belief until death called her. She was always a loving mother to her children and will be sadly missed by all. Mrs. Gordon Hoffman and son Jimmie, and Misses Opal and Velma Norman of Chicago attended the funeral of their Grandmother Zinn, which was held Sunday  afternoon.

ZINN, George (1846 - 1925)

George Zinn Dead - George Zinn, who was one of the oldest residents of the western part of the county, died at his home near Amsterdam Monday after a protracted illness with Bright’s disease. Funeral services and interment at Adam Howell cemetery. Mr. Zinn was the father of 15 children, ten of whom survive, and has 56 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had been a resident of Bates county since before the Civil War, having settled in Bates county in 1853. He was 78 years and 11 months of age. He had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church for the past 22 years.

ZINN, George Washington (1846 - 1925)

Charlotte Flashes - Two old settlers called to the other shore; George Zinn died Sunday evening. He was 78 years old. The funeral was held at the home at one o’ clock Tuesday. Burial in the Howel cemetery.
