WILLIAMS, Dawson Jimmy (1942 - 2007)

Dawson Jimmy Williams, 64, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Metz, Mo., to Dawson Roy Williams and Hazel Lucille Kleitz Williams. Mr. Williams was born and reared in this area and spent most all of his life here. He made his living as a mechanic primarily in the heavy equipment and agricultural area. Survivors include two sons, Dawson Williams, Nevada, and Slade Williams, Nevada; one daughter, Yvonne Scott, Olathe, Kan., nine grandchildren; mother, Lucille Jay, Altoona, Kan.; seven brothers, Mike Williams, Nevada, John Williams, Liberal, Mo., Bill Williams, Nevada, Butch Pilcher, Elgin, Okla., David Williams, Nevada, Ronnie Williams, of Florida, and Jeff Williams, Liberal; five sisters, Shirley Sumner, Lamar, Maggie Stout, Lenexa, Kan., Kathy Louvier, Nevada, Sarah Fay, Topeka, Kan., and Mary Holland, Nashville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Hampton and one brother, Steve Williams. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, June 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Ray Dean Scism officiating. Interment will follow in Underwood Cemetery, Hume. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends on Monday from 1-2 p.m., preceding the service at the funeral home.

WILLIAMS, Georgia N. (1923  - 2008)

Georgia N. Williams of Eugene, Oregon, formerly of Rich Hill, passed away March 1, 2008 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Georgia was born Jan. 24, 1923 in Papinsville, to the late Otto and Icie Williams. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Williams and John "Allie" Williams and three sisters, Virginia Fritts, Betty Murphy and Rosella Bise. She is survived by one brother, Billy Williams, Pinetops, NC and two sisters, Marjorie Smallwood, Osceola and Patsy Reed, Shawnee, KS. She is also survived by Marla and Troy Prentice, Eugene, OR and many nieces and nephews. Georgia graduated from the Rich Hill High School and worked at many restaurants before moving to Sterling, IL and then to Eugene OR. Georgia was a caring, gentle and compassionate lady who wanted to help and please everyone she met. She asked very little in return, just to be loved. She endured terrible pain but never complained. Memorial services will be held on March 22, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, Eugene, Oregon and at a later date Memorial services will be in Rich Hill, with burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.

WILLIAMS, Wanda Hackworth (1916 - 2006)

Wanda Hackworth Williams, 89, of Nevada, Mo., died peacefully, with her sons at her side, on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, in Nevada. She was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Valiant, Okla., to Henry Payne and Betty Stone Hackworth. She married Marion Jay (M.J.) Williams on Sept. 16, 1935, in Hot Springs, Ark. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1999. Wanda was also preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Wanda and M.J. came to Vernon County from Little Rock, Ark., in 1936 and lived here for most of their 63 years of marriage. Wanda was a devout Christian from an early age, a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, and active in Baptist Association work and teaching Sunday school. She was a 60 year member of Westminster Community Club. Her life's work included many years as a devoted mother and farmer's wife, plus employment at Montgomery Ward in Kansas City and at the old Nevada City Hospital. Survivors include four sons, Rex Williams and Byron Williams of Nevada, Dennis Williams of rural Nevada, and Larry Williams of rural Bates City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and their families, Eugene Williams of Rutland, Vt., Suzanne Reese of North Liberty, Iowa, Ronnie and Thad Williams, Melissa Scott, and Debbie O'Hora of rural Bates City, Michael Williams of rural Nevada, Mark Carmen, and Nathan Williams of the Kansas City area; two daughters-in-law, Kay and Gayla; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by John Nichols at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. A visitation will precede the service from Noon at the funeral home. Internment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.
