RICH, Mildred Lucille (1915 - 2008)

Mildred Lucille Rich, 92, of Butler, Mo., formerly of Leawood, Kan., passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008, at her home in Butler, Mo. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Butler. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Oak Hill Cemetery of Butler. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Bates County Historical Society. Mildred was born on December 9, 1915, to Jesse and Mamie (Green) Burns in Butler, Mo. She taught in the Kansas City School District from 1945-1973, and was a member of the Leawood Baptist Church. Since living back in Butler, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Stuart Rich; two sons: Thomas L. Rich and William K Rich; one brother, Robert Burns, and one brother-in-law, Charles Sutton. She is survived by her two daughters: Patricia Van Tuyl (Larry) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kerry Johnson of Irving, Texas; two sisters: Mary Rood (Jim) of Brownsville, Texas, and Aline Sutton of Lebanon, Mo., and five grandchildren. Thomas Laurence Rich 1941- 2005 -- Thomas Laurence Rich, 63, of East Haddam, CT, passed away July 5, 2005 at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. His sisters, Patricia and Kerry were with him at the time of his death and throughout his battle with cancer. According to his wishes, Mr. Rich's body was donated for science and educational purposes. A memorial service was held July 16, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the Underwood-Steinbeck-Brandtonies Funeral Home in Butler.

Funeral services for Hazel Rich will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2009 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Dr. Terry Davis officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Butler First Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association. Verlinda Hazel Rich, age 97 of Lexington, Missouri formerly of Butler, Missouri died Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Lexington Care Center in Lexington. She was born June 19, 1912 to Hiram George and Gertie Cecil Moore Cummings in Butler. Hazel is survived by three sons, Ron Rich and wife Joyce of Lakewood, Colorado, David Rich and wife Brenda of Lexington, Missouri and Douglas Rich and wife Barbara of Lawrence, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Diana Rich of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Glenn Cummings and wife Ruby of Butler, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Joanna Milewski and husband John, Allen Rich and wife Kathleen, Brianne Rich and fiance` Jeremy Glasbrenner, Adam Rich and wife Mary Beth, Simon Rich, and Darcie Osgood and husband Chad and Lindsey Rich; five great-grandchildren, Gregory, Tyler, Ethan, Alysa and Tyler; and three step great-grandchildren, Alex, Jacob and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Rich in 1964; one son, Harold Rich in 1998; three brothers, Roger, Allen and Clifford; one sister, Annie Cummings; and a grandson, William Brandon Rich
