KENNEY, Gladys Delma (1910 - 2007)

Gladys Delma Kenney passed away May 25, 2007, at Bates County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Nov. 15, 1910, in Rich Hill, to Claude McQuitty and Hilda Schultz McQuitty. Gladys graduated Rich Hill High School in 1929. She was united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1936, to Marvin Kenney in Stockton, Mo., and to this union three children were born. Marvin and Gladys were farmers west of Rich Hill for many years. During this time, she raised chickens, took care of her family and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She moved to Rich Hill in the late 1970s. During retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and games with her grandchildren and doing crossword puzzles. She was full of knowledge and history and many enjoyed listening to her stories. She was very independent and was still living on her own and cooking for her grandchildren several times a week. She was known for her famous cherry pies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her parents, one sister, Naomi, and one daughter, Lois. She is survived one son, Wayne, and one daughter, Dixie and husband Terry Hoeper, all of Rich Hill; seven grandchildren, Wendy Kenney, Lisa Sumner, Larry McCoy Jr.; Lori McCoy, Lynn Gronniger, Chris Beshore and Natalen Westerhold; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 29, at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, with Bill Perkey officiating. Musical selections included "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace." Casketbearers were Craig Sumner, Justin Sumner, Justin Westerhold, Ronnie Shutters, David Rogers and Terry Hoeper. Interment was in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill.

KENNEY, Wayne Allen  (1940 - 2008)

Wayne Allen Kenney was born May 16, 1940, the son of Marvin and Gladys (McQuitty) Kenney, at the family home west of Rich Hill. He passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at his home of pancreatic cancer. Wayne attended school and was a graduate of Rich Hill High School, class of 1958.
He was united in marriage to Raymona Irene Luther, on Nov. 20, 1960, at the Methodist Church, in Rich Hill; to this union two daughters were born. Wayne was a self employed truck driver and retired from trucking in May 2008. He enjoyed tractors as a hobby. Wayne attended church at Double Branch Christian Church. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Raymona on Nov. 10, 1976; his parents; and sister Lois McCoy. He is survived by his two daughters, Wendy and her husband Ron Morton, of Joplin, and Lisa and her husband Craig Sumner, of Rich Hill; three grandchildren, Roxie Jennings, of Joplin, Jamie Sumner, of Rich Hill, and Justin Sumner, of Leavenworth, Kan.; one sister, Dixie and her husband Terry Hoeper, of Rich Hill, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today, July 2, at 10 a.m., at Heuser Funeral Home, in Rich Hill, with Rhonda Headley officiating. Interment will follow at Balltown Cemetery, in Horton, Mo. Pallbearers are: Jim Entrikin, Ralph Hood, Ronnie Shutters, Larry McCoy Sr., David Rogers and Dylann Tourtillott.
