Lora Mildred Floyd - Lora Mildred Floyd, 91, Greenwood, IN, formerly of Vernon County, MO, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood, IN following a brief illness. She was born January 14, 1917 in Clear Creek Township, Vernon County, MO to Walter Tyree Newland and Neva Ellen Flagg Newland. She was married March 26, 1945 in Ft. Scott, KS to Norman William Floyd and he preceded her in death March 9, 2006. Mrs. Floyd was born and raised in Vernon County, MO. She spent most of her adult life in Booneville, MO and has resided in Greenwood, IN since 1990. She worked as a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses. She was a member of the United Methodist church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Gilmore, Greenwood, IN; one granddaughter, Christina Webster, O’Fallon, MO; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Webster and Adam Webster, both of O’ Fallon, MO one sister, Vivian Burris, Nevada, MO. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Walker, MO with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. The family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
