ARMSTRONG, Delton V. (1923 - 2008)

Delton V. Armstrong, 85, Jefferson City, MO, formerly of Nevada, MO, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Capital Regional Medical Center, Jefferson City, MO. He was born June 9, 1923, in Joplin, MO, to Delton V. Armstrong and Wilma Irene Wood Armstrong. He married Norma Lee Brown on January 3, 1944, in En Cino, CA, and she survives of the home. Delton lived his early years in Nevada where he attended Nevada schools. He was inducted in the U. S. Army on February 5, 1943. He was trained at the War Dog Reception Training School and served as a dog handler in the Office of Strategic Service (OSS). Delton served in the China/Burma/India theatre. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, and China War Memorial Ribbon and Badge. He was honorably discharged on January 7, 1946, at the rank of Tech 4. His occupations included working as a horse trainer with his father, a security guard for Westinghouse in Kansas City, MO, and a police officer for the Nevada Police Department. He retired after 26 years as a sales representative for Kraft Foods in October of 1985. Delton was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Masons. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family. Survivors in addition to his wife Norma include four sons, Lane Armstrong and his wife Lynne Kay, Lake Ozark, MO, Lynn Armstrong and his wife Carla, Jefferson City, MO, Lance Armstrong and his wife Marcella, Jefferson City, MO, and Brad Armstrong, Jefferson City, MO; six grandchildren, Jason Armstrong, Lake Ozark, MO, Claire Armstrong and Chloe Armstrong, Jefferson City, MO, Alicia Armstrong, Jefferson City, MO, Carrie Wilburn and Jill Allen, St. Louis, MO; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Wilburn, Justin Wilburn, Alex Wilburn, and Sarah Wilburn, all of Jefferson City, MO, and Jackson Allen, Jefferson City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO with Pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, Vernon County, MO.

ARMSTRONG, Vickie Lynn  (1958 - 2006)

Vickie Lynn Armstrong, 47, Nevada, Mo., passed away at her home on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Dec. 23, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo., to Byron W. Richards Jr. and Frances Morine Foglesong Richards. She married Donald Lee Armstrong on Dec. 2, 1980, in Walker, Mo., and he survives of the home. Vickie came to Nevada at a young age where she has lived ever since. She was a 1977 graduate of Nevada High School. Vickie worked at Nevada Habilitation Center from 1977 until she retired in 2005 due to her illness. Survivors in addition to her husband Don of the home, include two sons, Christopher Armstrong and James Armstrong, both of Nevada; one daughter, Sarah Armstrong of the home; one grandson; one brother William E. Richards, Kansas City, Mo.; and one sister, Debra M. Harlan, Gardner, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jerry Richards. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Charline Sweet officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8, at the funeral home.
