A GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. STEPHENSON CELEBRATED THEIR FIFTIETH MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 29, 1907, WILL LONG BE REMEMBERED BY MEMBERS

OF THE FAMILY AND A NUMBER OF FRIENDS.

Mr. and Mrs. John Stephenson celebrated their Golden Wedding on Jan. 29, 1907. Mr. and Mrs.
Stephenson were married in Clay county, Mo., Jan. 29, 1857, and came to Bates county in 1872, at
which time they settled on a farm owned by Sim Gilbreath, in Hudson Township, where they resided for
ten years when they removed to their present home near the Round Prairie Baptist Church.

To the union of Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson seven children were born, all of whom, with the exception of
Prof. N.E. Stephenson, who resides in Grundy county, were present and participated in the pleasures of
the event. They were: Mrs. John Ford, Mrs. Chas. Culver, Frank Stephenson, and Misses Ethel and
Gertie Stephenson. A number of neighbors were also invited in to take part in the excellent feast of good
things that had been prepared for the inner man and the pleasant social features of the day, including
some excellent music.

After wishing Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson many returns of the anniversary of their wedding day all
departed for their respective home, feeling that but few married couples are permitted to enjoy the
pleasure of celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
